Feeling disloyal
by stirred but not shaken ini've been visiting here for about a year or so, but didn't really feel compelled to participate other than reading the various posts that interested me.. there's been that uncomfortable feeling of being disloyal to god, the organization, many friends and relatives.. i've been associated since birth.
after 65 + years of service within this organization and actually enjoying that time, it troubled me to find myself wanting to express feelings that were contrary to all that time of "faithfulness".
those years were filled with progressive "privileges and responsibilities" even at a high level, and there was considerable success in our evangelizing activity.

A farce elder here
by His Excellency injust to share a little about me:.
i was recently appointed an elder, about 6 months ago now, and that is exactly two years after my awakenning, but funny that the appointment came also about 2 years after i had completely lost all faith in god and had been leading a full time anti-jw life .
makes you wonder the role of the holy spirit in the entire nomination or appointment process.. .

Makes no difference, really - except that it will not help the unemployment situation in France. Until Europe realizes that outsourcing is killing the Old Continent, nothing will change.

Help! Am I allowed too.....

I don't believe it is a scam. Without knowing Loubelle personally, she's not shown any tendency to solicit funds for herself - even when times were rough (as per her submissions to this board). Perhaps she could be advised as to how to go about it (have Cansa Care open a paypall account so it looks legit, etc.). I am not speaking for her, but casting aspersion as to her intentions sounds unfair to me.

Books!
by dynamiterose77 ini feel like i wasn't allowed to read a lot of books when i was younger, a lot of which i'm discovering are positivly phenomenal.. i was allowed to read edgar allan poe, who remains my all time favorite writer.
but, i've discovered the joys of stephen king, anne rice, joyce carrol oats, neil gaiman, george r. martin, david sedaris... and so so so many more.. i'm currently getting through "the shining" so i can move on to "doctor sleep".
i'm interested to see if anyone else that discovered the many joys of "worldly" literature, jumped immediately into what they weren't allowed to read... and what was your favorite?.

If you haven't read One Hundred Years of Solitude (Gabriel Garcia Marquez), give it a try.

Why do I bother to wake up in the morning?
by punkofnice ini'm not suicidal just fed up.. i did think of suicide (briefly), but as there is no painless way and it's not something i would willingly do just in case things would have been better the day after.
i do have a slight grain of hope.. money problems.....problems at home (that's another matter with a son up court for something he is adamant he didn't do.
first offence but the pigs police and the cps have got charges made.

by disposable hero of hypocrisy innext week's wt is full of helpful encouragement not to believe satanic propaganda that might tell us that the world is getting to be a better place to live in.. .
well, i stumbled across this article here, that contains lots of so-called 'facts' and 'figures', i'm sure glad i read my wt first so i can recognise that this is nothing but lies, all lies.. .

Horrible, if the document proves to be true!
It is in full support of serving in the military and avows to have given no instructions to the contrary. And this during the WW II!
Incredible...

Jgnat: Comments that usually belittle "learning" among Witnesses - even when the subject does not warrant such references - show a certain degree of preconception and bias. Could some have read a heap of literary works without coming across "Alice in Wonderland"?
In the end, some in the non-JW or ex-JW community do take themselves - or their "education" - too seriously. I know you sought to draw an analogy, but it could still have been done without the allusion to little "learning" among Witnesses.
