i believe 100% emotional monogamy is obtainable, but i'm not sure about sexual monogamy.

I think if you are emotionally monogamous according to you definition, then being sexually monogamous is natural. If you are in love with that person, that is the only person you want. Period. Well, it has worked for us for 13 years!

i was aware when i da'd myself that i would be shunned.
what i didn't expect was how my children would be treated by brothers and sisters.
no phone calls or anything.
I've wondered about this for awhile. My son was an infant when we left and my daughter wasn't born yet. I have wondered how they would be treated by witnesses as they grew older. My grandpa died last night so this afternoon I took my kids over to visit my grandma who is still a loyal dub. While we were there, two witnesses came to visit and completely ignored my kids and I. It was as if we weren't there. Weird and incredibly rude. We aren't df'd or da'd.

i have just finished making phone calls informing the family of the death of my stepfather.
i was an adult when he married my mother, but i loved him very much.
he was a wonderful man.. although he was a faithful jw, for his entire life (he was born to it) he was a really good man, and a true christian, i believe.
I feel the same way about going back. I know they will say all those phony lines. We miss you, etc. I however will throw it right back at them, memorial or not. "You never called to tell me that and you walk away from me in the stores." I personally think some will come just to see if any of us show up. Grandpa deserves better than that but the Borg is the Borg.
I'm going to see Grandma today too, dubs or not. I hope they don't make it harder for her. She needs her family more than them right now.

Hi Slayer's Brother! Nice to see families on the board. I've read alot of your posts lately.
I don't think excuses are a good idea but I'm really not too familier with your situation. My husband and I just left, walked away. Sounds like that isn't possible for you right now. I don't know exactly what you can say to those who are asking but they probably know you aren't really sick. I think I'd just tell them I'm taking some time off to work through a problem. Probably wouldn't work but you wouldn't be lying.

Steve and I have been talking about whether we will go to the memorial. Steve said months ago that he wanted to go but when you called last night he wasn't sure. I think we will. I personally feel it would be a distraction either way. No need to give anyone more reason to talk about us. I think you are right about you and Dad not going though, especially since Grandma is so understanding about it. I get this queasy feeling just thinking about going back there.
Grandpa is very missed, but we have been missing him for some time now. The last time we went to visit, he didn't know us. He has never remembered my three year old daughter and has been confused when he sees her. We really enjoyed the stories he told and he was a very talented landscaper. Many yards around here will never be quite as pretty.

when various illnesses arise you get out an assortment.
