it appears the man had no connection to the jw's previously, he just considered them an "easy mark".
I'm surprised at the lack of compassion towards these individuals that were in the KH attack. Just because they are JWs doesn't justify the attack. There were children involved in this attack - they have no choice to be JWs, and they would have been even more traumatised than the adults IMO.
If you are going to accuse the JWs of loving only their own, and not caring about the slaughter of non-JWs at Armageddon, then don't be displaying the same kind of inhuman attitudes yourself.

let me go back about six years to the 1997 district convention.
i was an "up and coming" ms at the time (only 20 years old!
) and was asked by my po (a circuit "heavy") to be his assistant (read: gopher) in the chariman's office.
And I bet with some of them, you felt like kicking them in the subordinates!!
the current discussion of an ex-gb member has prompted me to ponder this question:.
just how much of our personal circumstances can/do we take responsibility for, and how much do we blame the wts?
you may have grown up as a jw, coerced into leaving early to pioneer, not go to university, have no kids, even stay single for the pursuit of singleness in the kingdom work to pioneer or go to bethel.
They all survived basically the same trauma.....but each individual was impacted differently.
Excellent point that could be used in relation to our experience with the JW religion. We all had some experience with it, many of us for much of our lives. We each were impacted that pertains to us alone, and we each have a unique reaction from our experience.
It'd be interesting to attend those Steve Hassan seminars, as well as those Ex-JW Conventions, such as the one being held in October. Those that can and do attend, make the most of it. We don't have those sort of things down my way.

Whatever you are going through, I hope you will be strengthened by the fact that you have friends here that care about you.
i took my kids on a vacation to disney world...their dream vacation, actually, although it didn't turn out that way.
midway through we get a call that their grandmother (the real one, who was never a dub and who hasn't ever turned her back on the kids or on me even thru my divorce from her son, unlike my own jw mother) is in serious condition at the hospital.
we spent one of our 'vacation' days sitting in a hospital icu waiting room, timing our 15 minute visits so that we could see her, and throughout it all the kids were troopers.

i experienced a situation not to long ago and was left wondering.
if you that you rathers would you rather have an insincere apology or none at all?
i find myself left with a kinda sick pissed-off feeling when i get a "i'm sorry but....this is why blah blah blah" what do you think??
An apology is recognition of one's actions and the consequences of their actions, and an expression of regret over those actions/consequences.
Anyone can have a bad day and say a cross word or two, but if they refuse to take responsibility for their actions/words, particularly if they have hurt someone then there is a problem.
If someone said to me, "I'm sorry for snapping at you, I wasn't feeling well and I didn't mean it," then I'd take it as a sincere apology, but if they said "I'm sorry that you're upset but if you hadn't looked at me that way....," then it's more of an excuse than a sincere apology. Maybe there might be something that needs to be discussed, but that would still not constitute an apology, it would merely be a discussion of why things were said/done.

i decided that i will attend one this saturday.
i am a little nervous because i am going alone.. i need to make friends and i though this would be a good place to start doing that.

If I saw having a child to give me a hope to live, as the only reason for having a child, then I probably would have let myself fallen pregnant many years ago. However, I'm aware that there is much responsibility in bringing a life into this world, and so I have refrained from doing so, until I am in a position to give that child a stable home with loving parents.
I just know that if I had a child, that would stop me from musing on doing away with myself during my darkness. I've grown up without a mother, and I couldn't do that to my own child if I could possibly prevent that. Having a child would give me a reason to live, whereas when you have no dependants, you can get to the point where you think, "who cares if I go? No one will really miss me. It doesn't matter if I live or die."
