the bible teach book uses the example of a math teacher who is challenged by a student who disagrees on how to resolve a math problem.
the teacher then lets him attempt to prove his point knowing that he can only fail.
the object of the exercise is to show the rest of the students that the teacher is right - that there is only one way to resolve the math problem....this is likened to jehovah letting satan exercise his power over the world so that the entire universe can witness his failure and that only jehovah's ways lead to happiness.... instead of maths, what if the teacher taught chemistry and a student would want to prove that the teacher is wrong when he says that certains chemicals can't be mixed without causing an explosion that would wipeout the school...would any sane, responsible, loving teacher allow such a student to experiment and wipeout the whole class just so the teacher can prove he was right?

having been out of the loop for a while on here, it dawned on me that the figure of memorial partakers has risen substantially from when i was a jw.. i think i bowed out at around 8500 in 2006.. can anyone briefly explain what the main reasons for this increase are and if it is ever discussed among jw's because if i remember correctly, the figure should be going down, not up.. thanks.. j.
I thought the mentally unbalanced anointed were the faithful and discrete slave class? Don't they provide food that the proper time?

A lot of the JWs I knew were borderline alcoholics. Why do you think a lot of congs use grape juice instead of wine?

What's the difference between an apostate and a partaker? Most R&F JWs view partakers as demented or mentally unstable. That's the reason remaining 144,000 is increasing, not decreasing. The only difference they'll say hello to an 'anonited' person.

my wife brought up the un thing to my parents, much to their horror and despite me advising her not to.
I remember going to an assembly (in Australia 2004 or 2005?) where a member of the GB was speaking. He mentioned WT UN membership in front of 60,000. He said something to the effect of someone had accused the organization of being a UN member, and that it was only to gain access to the UN library resources.
No one seemed to even question it. The only thing I heard was something about apostates creating "these stories".
this is a very concise and i would say accurate history of the wts and given a much more kindly and sympathetic examination than the catholics have ever received from the wts.. i'm impressed.. http://www.catholic.com/tracts/history-of-the-jehovahs-witnesses.
