Seen it all too often. It really doesn't help that most of them don't have a good education.
When the bill is split and they all hand over $13.45, but a quick calculation in my head puts it closer $20, you know something's not quite right.

I didn't expect to be here at age 49. Here as in my employment
by wha happened? init's been a terrible economy these last few years.
i had a very successful loan brokerage and watched that crash and burn in 2011. i went back to my previous firm in the computer industry that was struggling after i left.
it seemed like a good match.

Look at the postitive side of your life. You're 49, and you only have to put up with this shite for another 30 years (40 if you're lucky).

I had two DF'd siblings. I totally ignored it. I often seen people in the street who were DF'd. I always at least said hello, and sometimes had a chat.

Just had an elder drop in for a visit. Asking why I hadn't been to the meetings for over two years. I told him there's a lot of things I don't agree with.
He started talking about how the Organization doesn't have everything correct and they're starting to acknowledge it. How the meeting format has changed, focusing less on 'details' and more on how to live a good life.
He also said it he doesn't like the term 'the truth', and thinks it's a presumptuous term, because they don't have 100% truth.
I kept it very short (because I already had other things planned). -

what is the earliest age you heard someone get Baptised?
by enigma1863 ini was curious what is the youngest age any jw has been baptised.
i thought it was hypocritical for jws to say wait for marriage because its such a big deal but "why wait to get baptised".
i think my step sister was 11 years old.

How long did it take you to prepare for talks or parts in the KM school?
by OneDayillBeFree inseveral years ago, whenever i got a talk slip i would get really nervous but accept it and work on it almost immediately.
of course that was way back when i still believed it all.. now they gave me a #3 talk out of the blue about a month ago and i had forgotten all about it till the meeting night.
i really thought about not showing up at all but at the last minute, i decided to go.. so when i got there the meeting had already started and so i just stayed in the back looked at the info, found 2 scriptures and then without any notes i went up and gave the stupid talk!.

When I was younger the brother I studied with 'helped' me to prepare for talks. He'd make me practice for about two hours, and pick every single fault.
The giving of a talk, and the subsequent public fault finding is nothing more than a power trip.

Martial Arts?
by Godsendconspirator ini have always had a love for martial arts (didn't know how to fight, just admire what the human body can do), but since jdub-land banned it, i just kinda forgot about it.
i admire nate quarry (an 'apostate' mma fighter) and i have been boxing for a year now.
i decided to switch over to muay thai.

I got called into the back room when I was 21 for going to a few martial arts classes. The elders asked a lot of questions on whether anything spiritual was done during training, then, when they got nowhere with that line of questinnig they went on to tell me how violent it is.
Got let off with a warning not to go there again.

The Other Side of the Indian Rape Story
by fulltimestudent ini'm posting this story, not to defend an indefensible act, but to try to provide some balance.
the fact is that so many indians exist in a poverty so deep that it's difficult for westerners to even understand.
the youngest of the rapists in the now world known rape story, according to this uk, independent newspaper story, grew up in that world that seems hopeless.

People like to blame circumstances, other people, ... anything but themselves.
Regardless of whether he's rich, poor, black, white, young, old ... it's no excuse. If this boy played any part he deserves absolutely no sympathy.

Another look at how the WBTS uses half truths to push garbage.
by Defianttruth inhttp://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102013047 .
wow talk about a way to push your garbage.
i can see it now the wbts is going to start taking their web pages down when people with open minds start picking apart what they write and openly publish for all to have this is only going to get better.

I remember reading an Awake years ago (in the 1990s) about how computers have reached certian engineering limits. I guess that didn't turn out to be true, otherwise I'd be posting from a 486 with 128MB.
