We've got a crazy lady who treats me like I'm invisible even though I'm not DF'd or have ever been DF'd. I think she does it because I don't attend meetings.
Worse part is she sometimes comes to my house to see my wife. Never looks at me, walks right by me. Even if I say somthing she won't acknowledge it. I bet if I was naked she wouldn't even notice.
I put her down as crazy because of the amount of medication she's on, and the number of hospital visits for depression and bipolar.

has an entire article about a woman, a molecular biochemist, who became a witness, and yet the watchtower leaders condemn and blacklist any of their members who get a college education.
i couldn't stop thinking about this as i read the article.
I think there's hypocrisy on many levels. For example brothers (and sisters to a lesser extent) who have higher education get treated differently in the congregation.
The literature nearly always praises educated indviduals. They're filled with praise for educated individuals who became JWs. And always like to (mis)quote educated people to further their agenda.

i have had many experiences with god, hearing god's voice, seeing minor miracles, have seen a woman healed instantly through prayer in jesus name.
what is your view on the miraculous.
In over 30 years as a JW I heard of many modern-day miracles from the platform, but never saw one first-hand.
My mum always says Jehovah looks after her financially. I often wonder how much could be attributed to one of the most generous social security/pension systems in the world (in Australia)?
it seems that the views on handgun ownership and weapons are sporatic among jws.
if i understand it correctly, it's generally okay to own guns and knives as long as they aren't to be acquired as weapons...even self defense.
some jws say they have no problems with gun/knife ownership; others say that it's easier not to tell anyone they have them.
Luke 22:36-38 is clearly referring to two literal swords.

Firstly they try to tie self defence in with their "concencious objector" stance. Clearly self defence and going to war are two separate issues.
Then they say Jesus rebuked Peter for using a sword. Saying the disciples took Jesus too literally about swords.
Jesus knew they had swords, he told them get them.
i certainly am , providing their are strong arguments that the perpretrator of the crime is guilty beyond any reasonable doubt of the crime he/she is charged with .. i am not religous ,however i do agree with a life for a life principle ,especially if it involves multiple victims.
somebody killing x amount of people, proven of course , have no right to live.
of course with murders of one victim their can be many scenarios which the courts of law can adjudicate for whatever an outcome.
Only with a fair jury trial. Innocent till proven guilty ...

well i say the same condition for life evolving are relatively repeated over and over again in perhpas billions of solar systems with different combinations of chemical reactions producing all kind of self replicating molecules not just carbon based or dna based.
many stars having a much earlier formation and intelligent life much more before our earth was formed billions of years ago.. .

As a kid I was always curious when out in the field work why the adults would suddenly run/walk away when somone wanted to show them a pamphlet.
Then there were demonstrations at the hall training brothers to treat "Apostate" literature like nuclear waste.

they think that they have the instruments necesary to be capable doing those tests.. 'this is no trivial pursuit: some of the greatest minds in history, from plato, to descartes, have pondered the possibility.
though, none were able to offer proof that such an idea is even possible.

okay, i don't know lots of people that were df'd, but of all the times i've encountered df people when i was a dub, they actually blanked me!
it was always something that i had fixed in my mind that the jws had dead wrong, even when i was an uber dub.
i remember several times when i used to arrive late at meetings, and i'd make a point of getting eye contact with the poor dub at the back sitting on the naughty step.
Never intentinally. When my sister was DF'd I wasn't allowed to attend her wedding, and had no transport (I was 14).
Through the years my brother was DF'd but I never shunned him. When I met DF'd JW's I said hi and had a quick conversation, some of them were shocked that I was talking to them, one even got all emotional.
