Recently, I have learned that the organization has been reorganized and that the Governing Body is no longer a part of the Watchtower Society. (I can't find the details on this right now. Can anyone help me on this?)
My question is, who really has the final say on matters now? It seems to me that the organization is now more like it's own artificial entity, like Frankenstein's Monster that no one can really control.

I think its important to remember that its not the fault of teejay or anyone else. We are the victims. We were unsuspecting individuals who were lured, or even forced in. Now that we have broken free and realize that what happened to us is wrong, we want to lead everyone out because we care about them.
Unfortunately, there is only so much we can do. No one is going to come out until they are ready. It would be unfair to ourselves to feel that it is our fault. Remember: we are the victims.

I am fluent in Watchtower 'dub talk' and can translate the above statement into English:
No! former members are not shunned. Of course we won't talk to them or engage in any activities with them because we consider them dead, but besides that, nope! not at all. We especially don't shun family members who are ex-JW's. Of course we won't eat a meal with them or allow them into our homes or anything like that, because, well, they're dead! But a phone call is tolerable as long as its short and to the point.
Of course we're not the only ones who will be saved! There are dead people who weren't JW's and that's not their fault as long as they died before Charles T. Russell. There are also those who will be JW's in the future but just don't know it yet. They're OK too. Man! What do you think we are? elitists?

well, um, ya, so i'm just gonna offer some free, unsolicited adive here...... quick aside: for those of you that don't know me, here's a little background (short and sweet version)....raised a jw, baptized at 15, da'd at 17. .
here is a little plh philosophy:.

Many of the books and publications authored by Charles 'Taze' Russell seem to suuggest to us that they were brough on by a bad "acid trip".
Proper attire is a must. You will need a sportscoat and tie or you will stand out like a sore thumb. If you speak to anyone, make sure to avoid phrases like "gosh, golly, and gee". These are considered the same as swearing.
Don't bother raising your hand during the Watchtower Study, you will not be called on. First you must be introduced to the elders by someone who is studying with you, and then you will be monitored for awhile to make sure that when you are allowed to participate, you won't say anything controversial. To put the elders' minds at ease, say things like "what a privledge!" and talk about the "spiritual food" that you "gleaned" from the meeting. When you are allowed to comment at meetings, make sure you stick to answers from the Society's publications only! In no time at all, you'll be "making the truth your own"!

my boyfriend and i live together and have been for about 3 years.. he wants me to convert, after research i will not.
(i was raised bapstist) he hasnt went to the hall in two weeks, last nite he went because a "elder" called him, why did they have him in a meeting till.
11 at nite, he came home and told me he confessed and he is in trouble.
If your boyfriend is baptized he will most likely be disfellowshiped for living with you, unless he proves to the elders he is repentant (which would mean he broke down into tears to them during the meeting and promised not to come home to you that same night). I hope for your sake he isn't baptized. If not, he will still be 'marked' in the congregation as bad association and will experience a moderate shunning. Make no mistake, he will be forced to choose between you and eternal life. His going to the elders to cofess shows he is loyal to them. He may see things differently once people start shunning him, especially if he is disfellowshiped and his family stops seeing him. New guidelines are very clear about shunning relatives. It is now enforced more than ever before.
If you love each other and decide to work through this, you definately have rough roads ahead. Good Luck you will be in my prayers.
some times the inconstancies and contradictions in the watchtower literature seems almost unbelievable.
the double standard of the watchtower writers seems to be without limit.. one of the explanations for this is that some watchtower articles deals with how jehovah's witnesses want to be perceived and how they want to be treated by society in general, and the contradictory articles deals with how the faithful and loyal witnesses should regard their enemies and outsiders.
in psalm 139 this is spoken of as a complete hatred.
