i just got an email from my jw-elder-dad (correspondence is rare).

mom & dad will not be attending my grandfather's funeral because it is a military ceremony.

the response is so borg-conceived i must quote some:.

"...we will do what we know is best, regarding (Grandpa's) funeral. (Son), we learned through many personal experiences & the many experiences of others, that upholding Jehovah's Principles always works out for the better. We have clean consciences, & true joy in knowing that we haven't violated those Principles. Mom & I can only try our best to follow our Bible-trained consciences, despite our imperfections. When we do Jehovah's will, it makes his heart glad, too, & that is even more important than our own feelings of victory. I know that it is hard for you to understand at this stage in your life, but Jehovah has been very good to us, and even promises us a better future, despite the joy we have right now. It is beyond compare."

In other words: "Sorry,I've been brainwashed so long that I no longer have my own opinions. Please accept this prepared response from the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society."

AlanF gave me a virus!

not the one that posts here...but i recently received an email from an 'alanf' saying there was important info inside.

when i opened it, it did nothing.

turns out it was a virus and thankfully i got rid of it.

The latest virus is a worm that also uses addresses in your notebook to send to YOU. Which means the source of the email is not necessarily the person who has the email address. Unfortunately, it is possible for anyone in the world to use any email address. For instance, I could send you an email from your own email address and you would never know it came from me. One of the people I supposedly got the worm email from is my sister from a closed email address. She can no longer use the email account personally because it is closed, yet the worm uses the Internet to send me an email from that address.

If you have WORM_KLEZ.G you will think you are getting the emails from your friends, but it is very possible that they did not nor did their computer send it to you.

This 13.7 MB file works. If you don't use a Mac, you will most likely not be able to view it without the Quicktime player. Realaudio or Windows Media Player will try to open the file with no success.

JW's Sell Kingdom Hall

a while back, i told of my wife going by our old kingdom hall and surprised to see an american flag hanging by the window.

i thought this was picture worthy news, and some of you agreed.. well it turns out the congregation sold the hall to a phillipino church.

The Kingdom Hall I used to attend is now a martial arts studio. One of the pioneer sisters from the congregation works there as a cleaning person.

Letter Fedexed To All Congregations

my brother sent me this email:.

at the kingdom hall last night the po read a letter that the society had fedexed to all congregations debriefing the friends on the dateline program.

basically they said that jehovah's witnesses do not harbor, endorse or support pedophiles and every since 1997 they have instructed the elders to bring to the attention of the local authorities any person who was guilty of child molestation.

Dunno why - they had the time - but this smacks of short notice work.

Maybe they thought Jehovah would send more planes into NY buildings to distract the media and delay the broadcast.

I still can't believe it even though I keep hearing it over and over. My sister is DF'd for smoking a cigarrette and then Prince walks in and can still do his "worldly" music. What the fock? Is he baptized?

Warning Re: fake emails

i must have annoyed someone i guess .

i have seen some emails that have been faked to look as though they came from me (and this site).

they typically have a subject line such as 'a nice game'.. please be careful about opening any emails especially if the have attachments.

Yes. It is WORM_KLEZ.G.

With this one, the rule of only opening attachments from people you know doesn't work because the worm disguises itself as coming from a KNOWN AND TRUSTED EMAIL ADDRESS.

I got it a week ago and had to reformat my hard drive! Don't open any attachments that contain a file with the extension ".scr", even if it seems to be coming from someone you know.

Also don't run any attachements that you receive in an email that claims to be a patch or immunity to WORM_KLEZ.G. It is actually the worm trying to trick you into intalling it. Again this could seem to be coming from a friend. Only run fixes that you have personally downloaded from a trusted website.
