there has been a lot of discussion about the claim that the gb feel they have fullfilled their obligation to preach.. this would be no surprise.

jesus said if you want to really do what is right you need to sell your property and give to the poor.

No witnesses in Afghanistan, North Korea, or Somalia? So I should be able to find a 24 hour short wave radio broadcast aimed at those countries with programming in their languages. Are they doing that? A lot of people in the third world listen to short-wave radio. Where is the Watchtower sattelite beaming the truth everywhere. We're not talking about something 6.5 million people can't afford.

So if community responsibility is in effect then all of JW's deserve to die at armageddon because collectively they didn't do all that was in their power to spread the word.

And why don't they put their whole cd-rom and every watchtower on the internet? Why don't they have their videos on the internet? Why don't they have mp3 recordings of everything? Could 6.5 million people afford to provide that?

Doesn't their God Jehovah care? If Jehovah cares and they obviously don't - then there is a major disconnect. Why should anybody else give a damn. If you have the "truth" are these things too extraordinary to accomplish.

The excuse I've heard for the cd-rom content not being available on the internet: "the apostates would have easy access to it and would twist things".

Another flavor of BS. Are they afraid of apostates? Is their God unable to work around that?

No. Nor do I preach. I pioneered several years until I couldn't pay my bills. Dropped out. I bought into the whole thing. But now I see no one REALLY makes sacrifices. There is NO safety net if you didn't "count the cost".

My dad (JW Elder til he died in his 80's) always said "Shit in one hand and pray in the other and see which one gets filled first".

When Jesus said to seek first the kingdom he didn't say a word about the costs. He said your needs are taken care of just like the birds and the lillies of the field. Jesus said the harvest is great and the workers are few - beg the master of the harvest to send out more workers. So if you work in harmony with that prayer the natural course is to pool resources through communalism (not communism). There WAS a model in the life Jesus led. There was also a model for this after pentecost. There is NO model today for communal sharing to accomplish this so-called life saving work.

This would be no surprise. They never took it seriously.

Think about it. Jesus said if you want to really do what is right you need to sell your property and give to the poor. AND THEN... you could follow Jesus.

Jesus said Seek first the kingdom and all these other things will be added.

If the Watchtower REALLY believed in the life saving nature of the witness work they would be on an emergency basis.

They would encourage communalism. Shared housing for everyone. Anyone who wanted to pioneer would receive provision.

INSTEAD they tell prospective pioneers to "count the costs" which means you are on your own. So many pioneers had to quit because they couldn't afford rent or a reliable automobile. Or they needed to cover medical expenses.

If they took it seriously they would discourage people from spending money on luxuries, - cruises, vacation homes, luxury automobiles, . Everyone would REALLY be content with sustenance and covering.

If they set up a system of shared living for people who wanted to pioneer they could have half of the congregations in the full time work. Not just 90 hours per month, but 200 hours per month or more.

As it is, they have really watered down any sense of urgency. They SAY the preaching is URGENT. But apparently their God doesn't think its really urgent. If lives are really at stake you would expect extraordinary measures to be put into effect. Communal living would be the answer if they really felt it were urgent.

Some might say that communal living is a recipe for dissaster. But shouldn't people who set themselves up as an example of brotherly love be able to make such sacrifices with God's help.

The truth is they never have put their money where their mouth is. Some have. Mostly those who want the reward of higher status in the organization.

excluding minimus, who is not afraid to ask questions.. i want to know what sharp - witted persons have to say, only then can i learn and move out of my box ( so - to speak ) i am an inquisitiive person.

i must admit that sometimes i hold back because, i do get intimidated, because of not knowing how to express myself back to the responses of sharp-witted ones.. blueblades.

Animals have four basic systems:

1. Visceral System for digesting food

2. Muscular System for moving around

3. Nervous System for processing information

4. Sensory System for getting information.

Asking questions is essential for survival. That's why it is evil for an organization to try to control information. That's why Google is the most valuable product in the world. We don't need an organization to act as the sorter for our information. That's why we have nervous systems. Our brain will find the mis-matches. But you have to train the brain in logic to do this right.

The two most important questions:

What do you mean? (Clarifys and puts everyone on same page)

How do you know? (detects the garbage)

remember congregation picnics and other outings?

i remember when i was little, probably only 4 - 5 years old; there was a huge congregation picnic at a park with food, games, etc.

"Where did the universe come from" isn't in the best form for scientific research. The question should be "How did the universe form?"

It IS an important question. Not personally important but collectively important. It becomes personally important at the point where you can confidently claim that the universe was not formed by some entity you call God. It liberates you from enslavement to superstition.

Society's claim of Matt. 24:14 being fulfilled - What it could really mean

i've had this thought for quite a while and wonder if fits with the recent talk about the wts claiming that matt.

24:14 has been fulfilled.

my thought was this --- in the wake of the recent cutbacks at bethel, scaling back of literature, and other cost cutting measures, could the wts be preparing the r&f for the complete or massive reduction of literature that would normally be placed with "householders?

Community responsibility is a cruel invention of Jehovah's Witnesses to explain why God will have to kill the poorest 1/3 of the population without a thorough witness.

The witnesses have flourished in the richest 1/3 of the world. They have stacks of unplaced literature in their garages and basements. They have computers with CD's containing almost all the magazines, books, pamphlets published since 1950. They have the watchtower on MP3 and tapes so they can listen to it and not even have to read their literature. This richest third of the world drive automobiles to conventions and stay in comfortable motels. Why should God give so much to the rich and then write off the poorest 1/3 of the world with "community responsibility". This is pure arrogance.

The Bible teaches the opposite of community responsibility. Concerning the final judgement (which is the only judgement that really counts) Revelation 21:12,13 says " And I saw the dead, the great and the small standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. And the dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds. And the sea gave up those dead in it, and death and Hades gave up those dead in them, and they were JUDGED INDIVIDUALLY according to their deeds."

It doesn't say JUDGED COLLECTIVELY.

It should also be noted that those who are killed at armageddon "the great and the small" are seen standing before the throne to be judged INDIVIDUALLY. And only after they are given a chance to observe the requirements of the "scrolls" do we see that individuals would be thrown into the lake of fire or second death.

The only things thrown into the lake of fire in connection with armageddon are the symbolic Wild Beast and False Prophet. The individual people "were killed off with the long sword." The "long sword" is one of the tools of Death & Hades. "And authority was given them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with a LONG SWORD."

Jehovah's Witnesses HAVE completed their witness work. They have preached to the third of the earth that WILL suffer the direct results of the great tribulation. The richest part of the earth, especially Babylon the Great (USA) have been saturated with warnings of destruction. The fact that they no longer can get significant increases from their extensive efforts means the destruction is near. When JW's see the disgusting thing (nuclear bomb) explode in the USA they will realize it is time to flee from Babylon the Great (USA). JW's will be able to flee the USA to their brothers in Latin America where they will watch from a distance the desolation. At that time people all over the world will realize that these people survived because of their faith.

French pressed African coffees - and without cream & sugar. Occasionally I like the taste of evaporated canned milk - nostalgia thing from early 1950's
