Journey: There are a lot of scriptures both "old and new testament" that refer to a group called "the holy ones". This refers to a group of people who are separate from the world. The point of separation is that they are not "friends of the world". Their stance on the nations wars bring these holy ones into conflict so that they are objects of hatred by all nations. The death of Jesus was the result of his alleged Kingship in a kingdom that he declared to Pilate is "not of this world". I don't see any significant candidates for this role other than JW's. All other so-called Christian religions are wrapped up in earthly governments. The faithful slave is not the Watchtower. The faithful slave is the individual/s that remains watchful for his master's return. This neutrality characteristic is too important AND significant to ignore. So if you think the Bible has any prophetic significance you have to eventually point to who you think are the "holy ones".

What will be the reaction in the congregation when...
by JH inwe have many older brothers and sisters in our congregation, and surely the same in many congregations all around the world.. what will be the reaction in the congregations when all these older ones, who were sure they wouldn't die before the end, pass away and leave a vacuum in the congregation.. i don't wish these older brothers and sisters harm, but eventually they will be too old to follow and they will die away.. it won't be the same anymore, when they see these old pillars who stood so faithfully crumble due to old age.. .

OR.... You all may be consigning JW's to the trash can prematurely. Jesus warned against getting complacent. The evil slave gives up waiting for the master's return. Since the past does not necessarily equal the future don't be too quick to place your bets. Could it be that the very fact that the organization can't survive much longer that perhaps it's deliverance scenario is about to unfold. Things can change drastically AND quickly!

Tell Us About Your JW Father If You Had One.
by new boy inwe are great friends now....but he wasn't much of a father growing up.. worked all the time...we went on few vacations....pretty much pussy whipped my my nazis jw mother.. he never did believe in the whole jw thing.
he just when along with it, for my mothers sake.. she never did respect him for not being a "spiritual head" and pretty much let us kids know about it.. i, like my mother became very self rightious and judgmental.. i wished now he had just came to me just once and said "keith maybe the jws are not the people you think they are.
" but he was to afraid of my mother to say that...even though he knew it to be true.i would have never believed him....back then....but it would have planted a seed.... .

My father is dead. He refused to go into military service in WWII even though he wasn't a JW. He was an elder (servant) shortly after baptism in 1950. He never believed the end was going to come in 1975. He used to play devil's advocate when he conducted the book study. He would purposely bring out controversial views to get people riled up. He wanted me to go to college because he felt I wouldn't make a go of it in the trades. I insisted on obeying the Watchtower and pioneered. I used to be mad at him because he offered to support me through college but wouldn't lift a finger to help me pioneer. He used to ask people who they are talking to when they pray. He would then ridicule them if they said Jehovah. Jehovah knows what you need so you must be praying to yourself. Even though he was odd to the point of being irritating people still speak fondly of him.

Is Early Christianity the Basis For JW Practices?
by OldSoul inearly christianity: what was it like?
did the early christians ask the public for donations to fund their ministry or other works?.
did the early christians encourage believers to distribute communications from the apostles and older men in jerusalem to the public as a primary part of their ministry?.

Did the early Christians drive four door cars or two door sporty models? Did the early Christians spread the word using DVDs and Cassette recordings. Did the early Christians use condoms? Did the early Christians listen to rap music? Did the early Christians smoke cigars? I hope nobody asks me to explain myself.

Void: They acknowledge the right of governments to execute criminals. But a lot of witnesses will say that governments "ought" to execute criminals. I always ask these individuals if it would be OK for a Christian to be an executioner. I have always been against capital punishment. The video of the young woman that was stoned by her fellow villagers in norther Iraq was sickening. I don't think most witnesses appreciate the violence of stoning.

If you really believe the Bible is God's Word and you take it literally then at best you are confronted with contradictions that leave you looking like an idiot. Some parts of the life of Christ very likely weren't really true. From a scientific point of view there is no evidence of a soul separate from the body. Can you really take a book seriously that never mentions the fact that you think with your "brain"? Or can you take a book seriously that teaches that semen contains a little person? According to the Bible women were just soil that nourished the little person the male "planted". Don't take this subject too seriously.

I am not defending the "degree" to which JW's demand loyalty. I do believe organizations have the right to expect and control certain behaviors of its members. JW's are way off scale in their use of disfellowshipping. Disfellowshipping should be as rare as life sentences in general society. But equating disfellowshipping with execution is ridiculous. Any organization that is organized hierarchically can be accused of "killing". People on the bottom of a hierarchy experience more serious mental and physical illnesses than people at the top of a hierarchy. Sociologists and anthropologists have documented the serious effects of alienation due to low ranking. In a sense organizations are both useful and deadly.

Most Comprehensive Work on JW in Nazi-Germany now in English
by GermanXJW inthe thesis of german historian detlef garbe on jw in the third reich now becomes also available in english.
to me this is still the best in-depth analysis of the jw history in nazi-germany.
despite the watchtower's attempt to exploit him he remained neutral and also made some critical notes at stand firm-exhibitions.

Hypocricy and Two Most Dangerous Expressions
by Farkel innothing is more duplicitous than two expressions taught by their religious masters and used by dubs when all of their arguments have been demolished.. the first expression is "wait on jehovah.
" the second is "they're just imperfect men.
the first expression is used whenever lives are trashed by gb decisions and elder decisions and it is used when dub leaders are forced to admit that doctrinal garbage and ecclesiastical decisions are undeniably wrong.

The Old Farkel says it well in so few words. You must be really pissed lately. I think the concept of "imperfect men" is stupid because of its very premise. Human's aren't imperfect. Humans are simply human. Humans have limited perception. Humans adjust their conclusions based on new information. This has been institutionalized as "science". Perceptions that have to be altered are clearly human perceptions. And no one has anything but human perceptions because we are all "human". Perfect "anything" is idealistic religious magic. It is Platonism. Where is the perfect circle? It's all infinite decimal places.
