What do you think about this?
by OneDayillBeFree inthere's so much going on in my life right now but i'll be posting more about that later.. .
to get straight to the point (i'm actually in the meeting right now) my mother has been very depressed about a lot of things lately.
she is a regular pioneer and is a jw who many think is happy but she's a good faker and knows all to well how to put on a fake smile to cover up her true feelings.

What sizemik said (above) sounds spot on to me. Very wise advice. Your mum has a big weight to carry here, and she'll be very afraid. Keep close to her, keep your ears open, think about issues from her position as well, and be slow to speak.
Best wishes from Flossycat, Melbourne, Australia.

Your mum's situation sounds genuine. She probably feels trapped after giving so much of her life to the JWs. No wonder she's depressed. So many JWs put on a happy face when in fact they're not happy - they've been disappointed by failed doctrines and 180degree backflips on teachings, not to mention many other inconsitencies they've 'witnessed' within their melieu. Wouldn't be surprised at all that she's re-thinking life in the org since the change in 'this generation' doctrine. Play it cool for the moment in my humble opinion, and grab that chance for college. With a college education in the making for you, it'll be a great springboard for your future. "Good on you Mum. It's taken you guts to say what you've said." Big hug from me, too.

Yes, I agree with you - it's better to go natural when possible. On my father's side there's a lot of anxiety factors - which I wonder might also be to do with learned reactions and not being educated in the formative years on how to cope with stress?
You might like to take a look at my website: www.jehovahsmysteries.com which introduces my book which was published in the UK couple of years ago. It's called 'A Little Lower Than Angels'. After marrying a psychopath when I was 20, (that's where the prostitution came in), the amount of shock and stress that overtook me went on for years. The adrenaline/cortisol levels in the body can become so depleted, the brain's hormonal triggers don't work properly anymore.
BTW, despite the paroxetine being really good for me - I'm hoping to wean off them eventually. Feal the Fear and Do It Anyway is fabulous.
Lovely 'speaking' with you.
Love from Flossycat.

Isra-el. Beth-el. Many others, all indicating the masculine. (Like the Latin 'testemony' - only men were allowed to give evidence in official/legal disputes.)
The witlesses even agree the Genesis 1 bit, about God/El/Elohim being God, JC, and - who else - angels???

Pioneers Bearing No Fruit
by TOTH inmy father in law's sow has been a pioneer for what...twenty plus years now?
she has yet to see any of her studies progress to baptism.
i know this is an excellent thing but to jw's you would think it would be tragic.

Somehow we've drifted off the subject of pioneers having no fruit salad...

Isn't that how, in recent years, translators have discovered it wasn't the Red Sea the Israelites were meant to have walked on dry land through, but the Reed Sea further along somewhere else - and it does have very low seasons when one can safely walk across?
No one could ever explain to me when I was a witless how come the nephilim/giants/ Og/Rephaim were still around in the 'promised land' when Joshua supposedly led the Israelites there. (written in Joshua and Judges.) If everyone except Noah and his family were drowned, what were the nephilim still doing on earth? Got some lame excuse about 'hybrids'. What the hell that was supposed to mean no one could tell me either.

Good info Witness-my-fury.
Inisc, maybe make a note for when you get to Deurteronomy chapter 32 (if you haven't gotten bored out of your brain by then). If you're using the NW Translation (mine's from the 1970s) you'll see in the Song of Moses where it actually makes it very clear that the Most High gave to Jehovah the Israelite nation. All folklore of course, but how do the JWs explain this obvious tribal/god link?

With the panic attacks; wondering what kinds of therpies you've tried? I used to get reclusive; and during my 40s got panic attacks that would last 2-3 days: My heart wouldn't stop racing, couldn't get a deep breath; thought I'd end up having a heart attack. (you'd know all the symptoms) Tried various natural therapies from hypno, to NLP/tapping - nothing worked. Desperate I ended up going to the doctor. She got me to try paroxetine - 1/2 tablet (10mg) per day. Within 3 days I realized I hadnt felt this 'normal' since I was 19 (a particularly happy time of my life.) I know paroxatine isn't for everybody, but it's worth a try if you haven't already tried it.
