  shunning wrecks families

  thread started to avoid going off topic elsewhere.. this matter of shunning---my story.. i made the decision to resign from the jw religion in my early twenties--i'm 65 now.

  i knew i would never deny any of mine a blood transfusion--just to appease this religion --and its deity.. my jw wife had just had our first child--a girl---and we went on over the next 7 years to have 2 more planned for kids---both boys.

  i like to think i was a good dad--they meant everything to me.. i hold up my hand and admit i caused the break up of that marriage---my wife stayed in the religion--and--apparently it was announced in the kh i couldnt be d/f'd---as i hadnt been a jw for years---so they said i was an apostate.. fast forward a few years--into the mid 80's---i had remarried--and led a relatively normal life.

  Sorry BigMac. I feel for you. This cult is such bullshit. Like clarity said, "the audacity to mess with poeple's family." These sad toads in the GB are not worthy of living among humans let alone leading and controling some. The worst part about it is how they can so slyly shift the guilt from their shoulders to the "Apostates" and those that have been kicked out, and our families take the bait hook line and sinker. Our families feel we are to blame and the GB are near squeaky clean. So sad. At least you have some sort of a relationship with your son... Cherish it. You're valued here.

  today i was doing some research for a new article, and i came across the following quote which succeeded in raising my eyebrows.... "the obligation to hate lawlessness also applies to all activity by apostates.

  our attitude toward apostates should be that of david, who declared: 'do i not hate those who are intensely hating you, o jehovah, and do i not feel a loathing for those revolting against you?

  with a complete hatred i do hate them.

  Impossibility for the Garden of Eden, the rivers do not match up.

  genesis identifies four rivers that went out of eden, pishon,.

  gihon, tigris and euphrates.

  clearly known to us, but the gihon is described as being in.

  Your logic is sound when reasoning with a person who believes the geography from the garden of Eden times was generally the same it is today. For those who believe the flood of Noah's day was a real event, modern geography cannot be used as a judge of what the earth looked like before the flood. Especially for rivers, they would've changed incalcubally with a global flood. Regardless, the garden of Eden myth is still just that, a myth.

  December 2011 was my last meeting. I left laughing under my breath and shaking my head about how ridiculous the meeting was. They were reciting from the young people ask book about how we should act around members of the opposite sex. They said that NEVER under any circumstances should 2 people of the opposite sex who are not married, be alone with each other. Not even in a public place like a park or mall. Haha. Petty crimes and pathetic shit. So glad I have my sundays free now.

  Shunned by ex-jw's

  there seems to be a double standard among ex-jw's who believe and practice christianity.. i have lost 3 subscribers from my youtube channel all because of speaking my mind, it was not invasive or rude, but my last two videos appeared to have offended them.. so what happened?

  as an atheist i raised some issues regarding the mind set of christianity that it borrows from jw's, in other words i was showing christian ex-jw's that they are behaving just like jw's.

  the double standard is simple to grasp:.

  Thats not shunning. Maybe they just dont want to listen to what you have to say and that is everyones right. Its one thing to not want to listen to a persons opinions, its another thing entirely to compleatly ignore and regect a family member even if they are in desperate need of help from someone.

  Ray Comfort makes me fume. But i don't know whether i hate the man or whether to feel sorry for him. When he was on the Atheist Experience he was quick to admit he was wrong almost every time that he was proven to be incorrect, at least on the lesser issues, showing us that he is somewhat honerable. But then he goes on to make absolutely horrendous accusations like these about great men, proving once again that he is a monster.

  Do we have an update on how many NEWBIES have joined in 2012 ?

  i think with every year their are more and more newbies that identify with this site , would you like to say " hi ", if you have joined in the last 12 months ?.

  does anybody have a graph of the numbers of newbies who have joined in say the last 5 years ?.

  i think that would be interesting.
