How do we set up a "Used New Bike Fund" for Terry?
by BucketShopBill inis there any way we can try to start a crowd-fund to help terry get some wheels quicker than he currently can?
with craigslist and a couple of bucks from a few members we can help terry get moving.
does anyone have any ideas how we can do a "theists for terry" bike fund raiser and challenge the atheists to a bucket-head challenge?

A rose by any other name..............
by sparrowdown ini'm curious, why and how did you choose your username?.
does it hold any special significance for you, is there a share-able back story?.
for me sparrowdown is a playful reference to matt 10:29 and the title of the movie black hawk down.. matt 10:29 was my go-to scrip to "prove" that god cares about us as individuals.

He made some great points but shut down their minds when he brought up the Flying Spaghetti Monster. He may have actually made them think had they not been given reason to shut down. First part was great but sadly it went downhill...witnesses turn it all off when the mocking begins and their "righteous" indignation makes them dig in harder. I know...I used to do that very thing. They were so not prepared. I am sure all this tract work is dulling the recollection of basic scriptures. Who needs a bible or know what's in it when you just hand out tracts and carry a tablet??

I realize your circumstances are very different than mine but 40's should be the best. At least that's what I heard and am now living........(are there things we 40 year olds should refrain from doing without having our LifeAlerts handy?? Lol)

I do not post very often but I feel compelled to do so at this time. Terry has contributed greatly to this forum and other areas with his research and insight. He has brought out so many points I never thought to research myself and spurred me on to do so. The member causing contention on this thread just saddens me...truly. Please get past your hatred and what I perceive to be a hint of jealousy and find another thread to cause trouble. You obviously have lost sight of the kind motivation behind the start of this thread.
Thank you Terry for all you contribute!!

Do you like the people in the Bible?
by Dis-Member inthe society always speaks about all the wonderful people and characters in the bible.. they always too speak of many of them as being so humble, faithful, loyal, diligent, loving, kind, wise, merciful etc, and worthy of imitation.
also of how god blessed them followed by endless examples and reasons why we today should imitate them.. .
they also speak of how wonderful it would be to meet some of these people in the future 'new system' and have often depicted scenes where the the survivors of armageddon would be gathered around some ancient resurrected faithful asking them questions and listening to their stories of times past.

i honestly havent thought about this in ages since it has absolutely no bearing on how I live my life nor do I really think it will ever happen (I won't know till I die anyway) but...there are few people in the bible I would actually care to meet. Jael, Jonah, Mary Magdalene, Abigail are the few I can think of on the spur of the moment. Abraham just pisses me off for even CONSIDERING killing his son and luring him up on a mountain under false pretenses. The people of today would crucify anyone who did that...

I see nothing JW related to this story at all except that it is the faith they claim to have. I deal with doctors and hospitals daily as a patient right's advocate and so often doctors are just plain wrong. The level of disconnect that so many doctors get to is astounding. It's self preservation most times because of all the terrible things seen but there is no way I relate what this family is going through to being part of the religion. Horrible situation to be in and he and his family are not the first to risk everything to have comfort and peace for their child.

How have you changed since finding TTATT ?
by Phizzy inon coftys thread about his former pastor trying to re-convert him, which is very long but a tremendous discussion of the problem of evil, a poster, sunny23, wrote :.
" having been 7 months since i first posted on the first page of this topic i have just read those posts and acknowledged a huge transfromation in myself for the better."..
i was only thinking the other day how, as i discovered this site and ttatt, i really changed as a person in so many ways, and i think mainly for the better.. i have been "born again" !!.

I have been out mentally for 4 years and out physically for 3. I am, by far, a better, happier person overall with so much less stress. I live in a new town and can even ask the witnesses that come by my house the questions I could never ask since no one knows me. Anonymity has been a great gift. I transitioned from thinking I was a "lover of Jehovah/God", to confused about everything, so I visited some churches to find answers....read lots and lots. Compared bibles and then realized I never believed any of it. I don't want to be a non believer. I still search diligently on a daily basis to believe and find a reason to believe but I just can't. I want there to be some afterlife and maybe there is...no one will know until they die. Having no belief is actually less stressful than believing because now I know I am a good person because I AM a good person, not because I am being blackmailed and guilted into being such. The only drawback is that my parents are getting older and the thought of losing them is utterly terrifying.
