i said to my husband last night - honestly, its like finding out that the sky is actually green and the grass blue! WTF!! So I understand that feeling of being shattered... sucks to find out youve been brainwashes. I think if Id found out what I know now at 18, I wouldnt have coped very well at all. Lots of supportive people on this site, keep digging.
A very recent WT (the one on what is the right religion i think?) said that no one should feel guilty for fully investigating their religion.... and yet we are expected to have blind faith in the GB and FDS and not look at anything else outside of what they tell us!
The WT are very sneaky, although they say infant baptism is wrong and unscriptual, they make it OK for you to get baptised at 14 (I was much younger!) even though you're not mature enough to make the decision really - it even more of a commitment than getting married! Once baptised, you're subject to DF and shunning. No wonder so many are stuck in the religion. We just didnt question what our parents and the society taught us.
Nice that youve found someone to date, but take it SLOOOOW - i was sure Id met the love of my life at 17, then again at 19. Not saying you havent, but at your age the odds are against it.
Take care of yourself, and be careful who you talk to about your doubts.... until you're ready for the consequences.
And heres a big HUG ((((((())))))))) for you!
Love Notready

CELEBRATE WITH ME!!!
by Notreadytorun inok so if you look at my membership and post history im very much a new member here, but have been researching things for some months on and off, so i have not made any sudden decisions..... i have been reading heaps of reasoning here as to why many of you have left jws, particularly those of you who have left for reasons of conscience.
i have just read crisis of conscience, which has become the proverbial "nail in the coffin" for me.. for many reasons i am no longer one of jehovahs witnesses in my heart, but i still identify myself as a christian, and will continue to uphold bible principles in my life.
the two big realisations for me is that: one: i do not have to compromise my bible trained conscience to make this differentiation, and it does not make me a true apostate, although loyal jws would label me that.

Thanks Gayle :) hubby has had a quick look through CoC, I dont think it has completely sunk in yet... but he said he wants to read it again. We have good discussions most evenings now, his doubts are coming to the fore now, i think he is where i was at maybe a couple of years ago... im just doing my best to "win him without a word" haha! Amazing how much hapier Ive been in the last few days since telling him everything... he notices it too. And we have been getting on really well, our relationship is more about US than Jehovah or the religion. We are enjoying eachothers company again!
As soon as he's ready to leave, we'll make it official. (Yep, Im THAT confident... he just needs tme, like all of us)
Our sons will definitely grow up with free minds and hearts, no doubt about that!
need to change my name to READYWHENHEIS!

Hi - I'm new here!
by Flicka ini have been lurking on this site for the past 2 months.
for the past few years i have been going to the meetings and doing fieldservice out of guilt.. my husband (twisty) told me regularly i only do it out of guilt but i denied it and said it i want to do these things because i love jehovah and it is the right thing to do, but how can it be the right thing if you don't feel welcome and it feels like everyone is judging you the moment you walk into the kingdom hall.. it has taken a few years and a lot of tears to open my eyes.. over the past few years twisty spoke to me about the various things he didn't agree with but it just went over my head.
a few months ago we were lying in bed and he brought up his concerns again, and i'm not sure what was different this time but i understood and agreed with the points he was making.

big hugs to you, so uplifting to read similar experiences, weve all had a rough time of it, but at least we can "meet" here for moral support!

Sooo Armageddon comes....
by MsGrowingGirl20 inso let's say armageddon comes,do you believe that all jw's would be destroyed because jehovah knows it's a false religion...it can't be denied, for the most part, they try to live by the bible...if anybody has to be punished i would say it's the leaders...i know that god wouldn't judge a whole organization but persons individually....so what i'm trying to ask is....do you think you're in a better position right now not for freedom but for salvation than the witnesses??
if by the time you're finished reading this post armageddon is here...would u wish that you still were a witness or are you satisfied that you've made god proud?.

Follow your BIBLE Trained conscience, not wt trained.... It eventually stops being so hard and one day u will just feel free and content and dare I say it.... Truly happy?

Billy you really have that "kingdom smile"! Lol very true...
Had another chat with hubby this morning, which began with him apologizing for being a jerk last night and some awesome morning makeup sex (instead of going to the meeting shock horror! )
So if he has another off day where his wt conscience is bothering him, I won't get into it with him or let it upset me again
Thanks to all who sent hugs last night, I slept really well

My personal feelings on the subject....
Nope, wicked people are the only ones to be destroyed, that doesn't include sincere people Of ANY religion doing their best to be "good". The bible says god is love, iit seems reasonable to me that he wouldn't destroy anyone without very good reason. And if he did, we aren't going to know about it.... What matters it what we r doing right now to make our lives and the lives of others "worth it"
