Imagine a KH with a bar....
by lfcviking init would be great wouldn't it?
if there was a room at the back of the hall that had a bar with a selection a fine handpulled ales & spirits.
the lights were lowered slightly, and some background tunes (not kingdom melodies) were playing, and there were some nice cosy chairs to lounge in.. after the meeting you could and have a few pints and have a laugh about how boring crap someones talk was.

OLD PHOTOGRAPHS FROM JW DAYS
by Dansk ini left the organisation 5 years ago and this morning came across some old photographs from my jw days.
most photographs were taken in the kh, such as marriages, and at assemblies and many are of people once considered close friends - but now i find it hard to look at them.
i asked claire, my wife, if she would like to look at them and she said she couldn't bear to, so they went in the bin.

We have a wedding video.
Still happily married but can't begin to think about watching it because of all the people on it . . .

I have a gift! What's yours?
by Crumpet inotherwise entitled: smoking - a cautionary tale.
i have a gift, a talent for getting myself locked into or out of places.
ever since i was small i have managed to get myself locked in most host's lavatories and unable to quite mistress the ability to unlock the door.. today i surpassed myself.

So how bad is the male STD test???
by bluesbreaker59 ini'm going in for a routine checkup at the behest of my partner.
she was shocked i've never been tested, and i said well i have no symptoms, i wear condoms, and had very few partners, so i didn't think it was necessary.
really how bad is the "q tip"???

she's just a friend
by daytona27 ini was married a long time, divorced and alone for the last couple of years.
i consider myself content.
i've come to terms with being alone and the prospect that i may not be with someone for a good while.

I was in a relationship like that (minus the hot tub!) for about 7 years.
For what it's worth, here's my opinion.
As you are moving away - I'd tell her how you feel.
If that "weird's her out" you COULD always set about regaining her trust by not going weird on her yourself.
If it turns out that she has feelings for you you could take it from there. My experience tho of this sort of a (possibly) onesided relationship is not good.
It eats you up because you want more and it's unrecipricated but you live in hope.I also believe that if it turns out that she definitely doesn't want the friendship to go further YOU should put some boundaries in place.
The hot tub stuff is off limits and if she repeats it again I feel she is not being fair because she's sending out mixed messages.
I HOPE that she wants to develop the relationship.
My gut feeling is that she doesn't.When I look back over my previous relationships I sometimes think about the times I seemed to meet the "right" person at the wrong time, and I wonder what might have been.
But when I think about the person I knew, who sounds alot like this girl, I really don't view it in the same light.
Neither of us were attached, the timing could have been worked out, and the opportunity was there. I told her how I felt.
She didn't want to take it any further than the "shopping" and "dinners" that you're having.
We did continue the friendship but in the end I needed someone who wanted more with meIn the end she didn't WANT it.
Not much you can do about that.

Crackdown on "sisters" volunteering at DCs
by dozy inthe wts has sent a letter to all convention overseers expressing their increasing concern at sisters "directing brothers" at district conventions.. with immediate effect (ie for dc 2008), sisters are no longer to be used as volunteers in parking and security / watchman departments.
any sisters volunteering in other departments (eg toilet cleaning) must be subordinate & follow the direction of appointed brothers.
this move will put a huge burden on the dcs in my area - nearly half the volunteers for parking are sisters and there aren't enough volunteers as it is.

Quite right too . . .
This is great news - it'll just create rifts and hopefully usher people out (as long as the usher isn't a woman)

What are your Guilty Pleasures of a geeky/nerdy variety?
by Crumpet ini don't mean the ones we know about already - things people wouldn't think you did or enjoyed to look at you.. i love watching ray mears extreme survival and learning about how to survive and find food and shelter in extreme climates even though there is a strong possibility that i shall never try and escape naked from a japanese prisoner of war camp, or crash without a flagon of water into the sahara, or come stuck in my ship in a freezing ice plateau in deepest antartica.
.
what's your guilty geeky pleasure?.
