Should I??
by Mrs Smith ini have been speaking to my mom about the wbts a lot lately.
last night while discussing the fact that 1914 is now missing from the "awake" masthead (something she never noticed .
she thinks if i write to the gb they will send me a nice neat explenation and that it will all be better and she then can go on thinking that the jw have it all!.

She probably wants to remain apostate-free and that's why she can't write to the Faithful Slave asking them to explain anything they do.
Yes because asking the good ole FDS a straight forward question immediately makes you an apostate doesn't it

Did you ACTUALLY do this?
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inas part of your "dedication and baptism" did you actually go to jehovah in prayer and "dedicate" your life to him prior to your baptism?
at the time when the elders were reviewing the "questions" with me, i hadn't a clue that i was supposed to do this until one of them asked directly.
i answered in the affirmative anyway ... wanting the incessant questioning to be over as quickly as possible.

Yes I did.
And in keeping with that I dedication I left in Sept 99. Quite simply because my dedication was to Him not the WT.
Grace, what's so about that? So you've received an amazing revelation about Jehovah since and He's way bigger than you thought but surely you've remained true to your dedication?

ALERT: All Child Abuse Lawsuits have been settled. Millions cashed out???
by What-A-Coincidence inre: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/8/116108/1.ashx.
a bethel insider in the know told me that all of the child abuse lawsuits where the watchtower bible and tract society was one of the defendants were settled back in the beginning of this year.
i questioned it and called napa myself and they were absolutely settled back then.

Wouldn't it be more effective if Bethels around the world were inundated by people calling and asking:
"Can you please confirm that contrary to rumour, you did NOT settle out of court in multiple child abuse cases in the US"

Is a rapid graceful exit possible?
by besty inwe will find out soon.
as a brief update my wife sweet pea and i have 'announced' to a few friends and close family - less than 10 altogether - that we are no longer going to meetings.
some friends have probed for details, others don't want to know.

Hi guys!
You have to do exactly what you've said now cos unfortunately you can't have it both ways either.
So if anyone approaches you asking for info you need to say "sorry but I'm afraid I don't want to discuss it"
If other elders come tell them you've spoken to so and so and you've nothing more to add. Then get rid of them.
They will quiz your friends to see if it's true. We deliberately had to say nothing so for our friends good as well as ours.
I know that this goes against everything that you stand for as decent people but it's the only chance of a graceful exit.
I agree with lots of the other posters. This varies from cong to cong and from one body of elders to another. Fortunately my elders were of the "can't be arsed as long as they don't become a problem" class
If you want the exit to be graceful you have to do just that - exit.
Here's hoping and praying.
You know where I am.
S
PS that applies to family as well. Anything you say can be used - especially if there's 2 witnesses Two of my brother -in-laws tried to gather evidence via conversations with us for a committee.

Me and my brother.
by nicolaou inan earlier discussion has been highlighting the differences between da'ing and df'ing.
xena said:i am sorry qadreena but i have never in the 20 some odd years i have been a jw ever heard of an unbaptised publisher being d/aed...marked as bad association yes..but d/a...no...but i guess stranger things can happen.... well that brought it all back.. actually xena the exact same thing happened to my brother in the early 80's.
he was only 14. he'd carried on associating with a friend of his who'd been disfellowshipped.

Nothing like a good "pebbledashing"

It happens because some elders just can't be bothered to do anything - so there's no consistency.
I know it doesn't help you with the way that you've been treated but try and be happy for them.
At least they haven't had to go through what you have - something you presumably wouldn't wish on anyone.
Hope everything works out for you.
