I would be surprised since WTBTS went on a campaign a number of years back to rid KHs of the WT logo based on copyright infringement. I supposed KHs that are owned by WTBTS could have them with no issue, but ones that are not could be problematic. You never know these days. This org. is getting weirder and weirder.

I have yet to get up the courage to just skip meetings and field service. More power to you, DD, that you can.

I've recently cut right down. If I want a drink, I set myself a limit and stick to it. I am in control of the alcohol not the other way around.

And, the GB gets some free time during theit meetings, no? because currently I believe they have to spend sometime reviewing the applications.
The GB today has NOTHING to do with appointements. It's all handled via the Service Department.
The reality here is that this is a way to speed up appointments. End of the week of the C.O.: appointment made. No muss, no fuss. Probably the C.O. just logs into his account at JW.org, puts in the name of the brother, prints out a form letter and that's the end of it. Just like appointing regular pioneers, but only this time, it's the C.O. who does it instead of the local elders.
I'm curious about those challenging cases where brothers have a "history" that the branch knows about, but the local elders might not and the C.O. might not.
I also wonder, in accordance with Acts 14:23, if the C.O. will be fasting.

The Governing Body told two Elders to call !!!!
by Phizzy ina friend from the other end of the country just 'phoned and told me that a couple of days ago two elders knocked on his door.
he has been out for four or more years.. they told him it was c.o's visit, and the governing body have asked them to call on those whom they no longer see at the k.hall.. i guess this is an easier "field" than knocking on doors that never open, or where they are told "not interested".. my friend bill though, was not such an easy call.
apparently he managed to get in about 1914 being rubbish, the bible not being the word of god, because we cannot trust it, 1919 being rubbish as to the choosing of the fds and several other telling points.. i liked particularly that he said to them they were rather hypocritical asking householders to examine their faith, when jw's were simply not allowed to !.

This is a new program for the C.O. visit... call on all the inactive ones in the congregation. This will happen now twice a year.

Great Crowd is NOT under the New Covenant...Where does it say this?
by Christ Alone ini was wondering if there was anywhere someone could point to in the bible for the watchtower belief that the great crowd is not included in the new covenant.
i know that this is their line of thinking when it comes to jesus being mediator.
they say that jesus is only mediator of the new covenant and since the gc is not under the new covenant, jesus is not specifically a mediator to them.

The old covenant wasn't for all God's people. It was for Israel. That there were others who were God's people is evident in the "stranger" concept found in the law. The alien residents had to keep the law if they lived in Israel, but they were not parties to the covenant and the law made exceptions for them.
True, for the covenant originally made at Horeb. However, that covenant was amended by God at Moab after 40 years in the wilderness. Read Deuteronomy 29. This amended covenant, albeit years later, absolutely included foreigners.
vs 1: These are the words of the covenant that Jehovah commanded Moses to make with the people of Israel in the land of Mo′ab, in addition to the covenant that he made with them at Ho′reb.
vs 2: "Moses then called together all Israel and said to them" (so Israel was the audience)
vs 10-13: “All of you are stationed today before Jehovah your God, the heads of your tribes, your elders, your officers, every man of Israel, your children, your wives, and your foreign resident who is in the midst of your camp, from the one gathering your wood to the one drawing your water. You are here in order to enter into the covenant of Jehovah your God and his oath, which Jehovah your God is making with you today in order that he may establish you today as his people and that he may be your God, just as he has promised you and just as he swore to your forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
vs 14, 15 (remember, the audience is "all Israel"): “Now it is not with you alone that I am making this covenant and this oath, but it is with those standing here with us today before Jehovah our God and with those who are not here with us todayBasically, God made an allowance for these "strangers", "alien residents", "foreigners" in their midst and invited them into the covenant, thus they would become the people of the promise, and could rightly be called God's people.

GB approves entertainment auditioning for international delegates.
by suavojr ini don't know if this was mentioned but i spoke with a jw from atlanta, georgia that informed me that the great gb has approved jw auditions.. yes, you read that right!
now the jw's will have their own jw idol, jw voice, and dancing with jw stars, lol.. they are using an assembly hall in atlanta and jw's from all over are auditioning from 8am till 6pm.. supposedly the idea is to have live entertainment for the delegates traveling from overseas for the international conventions.. he said they have had jw's who can play all the hits from the beatles, play merengue, salsa, sing, dance, etc.. the gb is trying hard to make their cult look normal.. some of the questions this rises are,.
will it work?

This is probably a local thing. The Seattle area has a "Hospitality Committee" for the International Convention, and that committee appointed one elder per congregation to serve as the Hospitality Overseer for that congregation. So, if there's auditions there in Atlanta, it's likely directed from that committee. I can tell you that the whole thing is blown so far out of proportion... in the Seattle area, they want dancers, singers, etc. to provide entertainment. Haven't heard of any "auditioning", so I'm guessing that's local for the Atlanta convention.

The idea first came out in 1952.
w52 9/1 Questions From Readers pp. 542-543:
Your publications point out that the battle of Armageddon will come in this generation, and that this generation began A.D. 1914. Scripturally, how long is a generation?—G. P., Liberia.
Webster’s unabridged dictionary gives, in part, this definition of generation: “The average lifetime of man, or the ordinary period of time at which one rank follows another, or father is succeeded by child; an age. A generation is usually taken to be about 33 years.” But the Bible is not so specific. It gives no number of years for a generation. And in Matthew 24:34, Mark 13:30 and Luke 21:32, the texts mentioning the generation the question refers to, we are not to take generation as meaning the average time for one generation to be succeeded by the next, as Webster’s does in its 33-year approximation; but rather more like Webster’s first-quoted definition, “the average lifetime of man.” Three or even four generations may be living at the same time, their lives overlapping. (Ps. 78:4; 145:4) Before the Noachian flood the life span was hundreds of years. Down through the centuries since, it has varied, and even now is different in different countries. The Bible does speak of a man’s days as being threescore and ten or fourscore years; but it assigns no specific number of years to a generation.—Ps. 90:10.
Even if it did, we could not calculate from such a figure the date of Armageddon, for the texts here under discussion do not say God’s battle comes right at the end of this generation, but before its end. To try to say how many years before its end would be speculative. The texts merely set a limit that is sufficiently definite for all present practical purposes. Some persons living A.D. 1914 when the series of foretold events began will also be living when the series ends with Armageddon. All the events will come within the span of a generation. There are hundreds of millions of persons living now that were living in 1914, and many millions of these persons could yet live a score or more years. Just when the lives of the majority of them will be cut short by Armageddon we cannot say. -

Question about Matthew 26:17 and Leviticus 23:5,6
by label licker inhow could the passover be on the same day as feast of unleaven bread?
matthew 26:17 says it was the first day of unleaven cakes/bread and they were asking where to prepare the passover.
but leviticus says the passover was on the fourteenth and the feast of unleaven bread/cakes was on the fifteenth, next day after passover.

I looked at this very briefly at one point, and if I recall, I think it was because that particular passover when Jesus ate with his apostles was a double passover with that week being a great sabbath (John 19:31) (not only a regular weekly sabbath, but because the passover and the sabbath fell on the same day). I don't recall much else about this one, but this has something to do with it, I think.
