It was announced last night. Notably, the visit will always be on a Tuesday night. So, congregations are going to have to keep switching around after all.
All this to protect the precious Family Worship night because some give that up during the CO visit currently? This makes no sense. So what if it's missed two times in a year. Who cares?
well in light of the 17 billion calls i got this week my wife and i decided to attend the meeting.
it was nuts!
we got love bombed right when we got there.
It's a win-win for JWs. According to them, God DOES protect all his loyal ones. Either he saves your life, or He lets you die and then you are safe in his memory awaiting the resurrection! It's a win either way.

Hasn't been announced in our cong, yet. Maybe this week. We'll see. That change is probably quite welcome for COs wives. They haven't had the benefit of only one mid-week meeting like the rest of JWs have. The elder who said this claimed the extra night would be used by the CO, Elders and MSs for visiting inactive ones. Don't know if that was in the letter or not.
anyone else get the distinct impression that jws are being worked up into a frenzy with all the changes and activity nowadays?
by the end of august, there will have been four campaigns inside of a year.
one last november, a memorial campaign, a convention campaign and an advertise jw.org campaign.. then there's the conventions with all the hooplah around that with all the video, and the aggrandizement of synchronized gb talks.
Interesting speculations, Ocean111. There's definitely some brilliant financial moves going on and since most JWs think they're all part of one big organization, there's no issue with these financial moves for most of them. I'm having a bit of fun just watching people's reactions. Only time will tell what will become of all this.

Elders and MSs will visit with inactive ones during the CO vist. There's also a rumor that there will be one less meeting per week for the CO visit. Not sure an official letter is out just yet, but I read it here, and I heard it from another elder (that elder said it's a rumor, so it makes me wonder if he comes here from time to time).
we were in the middle of discussing their use of god's personal name, and miss k was not able to find one place in the bible, where jesus actually said the name out loud (that wasn't a quote from the ot).
we had started out by talking about jesus being "the way, the truth and the life.
" then she stated that one of the purposes of jesus' coming to earth, was "to make god's name known.
Jesus is reigning on his heavenly throne NOW, but will eventually be giving the authority back to his father. (Therefore, we need to keep Jehovah above Jesus).
There is no disagreement the Father is greater than the Son. The issue is that JWs don't do what Jesus said to do.
For example, here's a rare scripture in JW land:
For the Father judges no one at all, but he has entrusted all the judging to the Son, so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. - John 5:22,23
How can one be honoring the Son if they continue to do an end-run around him? And how about this?
Jesus said to him: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6
Ask a JW what that means, and they'll likely say, 'we pray in Jesus name'. Is that what it means? Have you ever been told to go to a particular person for something, but you ignore it and go over his head? How do you think either of those people feel about that? Didn't God give Jesus a covenant for a kingdom? (Luke 22:29) Didn't he give Jesus all authority in heaven and on earth? (Matt 28:18) And especially in relation to the congregation? (Eph 1:22) Didn't God say to listen to his son? (Matt 17:5)
And so if we're doing an end-run around and saying the congregation is directed by God and that this is "God's visible organization", isn't that doing the opposite of what God said and inspired writers to say? Even the apostles had the clear idea that all things belong to us, we belong to Christ, Christ belongs to God. (Eph 3:21-23)
and that jehovah's witnesses are proud to use that name?.
That this could be so in some cases is indicated by the following statement appearing in the Katholische Bildepost (a Catholic magazine of Germany): “The name of God, however, which they [Jehovah’s Witnesses] have changed to ‘Jehovah’ is simply an invention of the sect.” (August 24, 1969) This statement smacks of religious prejudice. i've been reading posts here off and on for years.

I brought up the "strange instructions" thing because my very-much-in JW mother brought it up to me recently. If you think JWs aren't paying attention, think again. The problem is, they can't really see things for what they are. They're too busy being enamored with all the activity that they don't have time to sit down and actually prove everything to themselves. The organization does NOT give them any room to breathe for normal life, let alone actually studying. Since I stepped down as an elder two years ago, I've had that time to study, and it TAKES that much time to study. My elder brother-in-law recently told me he has NO TIME for deep research like me.
nice guy i worked with him for about a year.
he is mormon but every time we were in a place to talk he brought up religion, cult thinking.... he needs to come clean i think.... ripe for the vine of non cult thinking but not an ex-jw so i don't have the upper hand?
is there a coc for mormons?

Like JWs, Latter Day Saints say a lot of things without scriptures to back them up. They say worship means thinking about our Heavenly Father and Jesus and that's what God wanted on the Sabbath. But there is no verse to back that up. That's what THEY say the Sabbath means. But, the Bible says it was a day of "complete rest". Thinking about God on that day is in the original commands as far as I can tell. It was to simply be a day of rest, no work. And to make sure that his people didn't have to work, God provided double the portion of manna the day before and ensured it wouldn't spoil that day. Thus, they really had no reason to work.
Frankly, this was a pretty awesome thing. Could you imagine working for a boss who told you that you absolutely were never to work one day a week, that you were to just rest? Stay home and rest.
I'm already searching and am in 2 Kings, and there is no mention of "thinking about God" on the Sabbath.
