  No mention of DF in new brochure?

  i went on my tablet today and clicked "yes" that i attended the convention (they probably tracked my ip and two elders will show up on my door step).

  i scanned through the new brochure on bringing those who have left back.

  i noticed that not once they mentioned anyone who was df!

  I skimmed it over last night. There is an experience related in the brochure of someone who was gone from the org for 40 years, celebrated holidays and went to another church. I was surprised because this person wasn't DF'd or DA'd.

  My goodness! Most of the artwork is re-used from past books or WTs!!! I'm not sure there's even one original picture in there. I'll have to do a comparison. I'm betting I can find at least 90% of the pictures in previous literature. This is going to be a HUGE letdown for many of the convention attendees.

  i was just curious if anyone has had their "special" convention.

  is it uber-watchtarded or just the normal propaganda, followed by the solicitation of funds??.

  My elder brother-in-law had no clue when I asked him because he didn't go to the elders meeting at lunch time. Ridiculous amount. And, yep, a WT-owned facility.

  When did the WTS begin to require baptismal candidates to answer 2 questions. What were they?

  i need some research done so if anybody has the time, please see what you can find on the subject as stated in the title.. i clearly remember attending my first circuit assembly.

  on october 30, 1956, i definitely answered two questions, along with about ten other people including my mother, not at the assembly, but we were standing at the side of a small baptismal pool that was in the basement of a kingdom hall in ronkonkoma, then a small hamlet on long island in the town of islip, suffolk county, new york, united states.. i know for a certainty that in 1945 candidates for baptism were not asked any questions but they were informed through their congregation that there would be a baptism and told where and when it was to be held.

  usually the baptism was done at a beach and when candidates showed up in bathing attire, they were dunked, no questions asked.. so sometime between 1945 and 1956 two specific questions began to be asked of candidates.

  July Kingdom Ministry

  the july 2015 kingdom ministry says jws can't do international outreach through the internet, but to instead, point someone in the direction of jw.org site.. it's just another form of control.

  the individual publisher is forced to send the interested one to a website fully controlled by the borg.. .

  Speculation: It's probably a legal issue. If authorities in another country gets wind that one of their citizens is getting preached to by a JW and that country happens to ban JWs, the organization could get in legal trouble. I suspect this has happened. I have no proof, of course. Just speculation.

  The work is speeding up

  i don't have a great reference point on my observation other than my local area but i was wondering if this was a widespread thing.

  ... in the last two years in my former congregation there have been 6 people to disassociate for "apostasy," 6 disfellowshipped for various reasons, and numerous ones reproved.

  these are just the ones i have heard about.

  It was reported here on this forum that in the Seattle area a high level elder or CO told the one posting it that in the circuits of that area their loosing half a dozen members per circuit every six months. They also had an international assembly in Seattle last year and reported something like 70K in attendance the first day but by the pics it didn't look like it to me.

  That was the OVERALL attendance of people in Seattle, PLUS the tie in cities. I was there. The thread on it is here.

  Why doe New light tick me off???? Next 2 weeks WT Studies

  if you have been a jw for 20+ years you may remember that the wt went into great detail on different illustrations that jesus used and the "type/anti-type" ridiculous explanations.

  remember the revelation book and how those obscure jw conventions of the past pictured big things in heaven and the opening of seals?

  anyway, the wt lessons for the next two weeks do two big things for me.

  Hmm. Ok. I'll acquiesce. The word "antitype" and anything about Nebuchadnezzar and his tree dream appear together in any of the literature. So, from a purely "technical" perspective, it's not a type/antitype thing. However, the "seven times" vision is considered a "prophectic pattern" as recently as the October 1, 2014 WT on 1914 (chart on page 11).

  It's interesting that the parallel account in Luke didn't mention the three days as the sign of Jonah.

  When the crowds were massing together, he began to say: “This generation is a wicked generation; it looks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Joʹnah. 30 For just as Joʹnah became a sign to the Ninʹe·vites, so will the Son of man be to this generation. 31 The queen of the south will be raised up in the judgment with the men of this generation and will condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solʹo·mon. But look! something more than Solʹo·mon is here. 32 The men of Ninʹe·veh will rise in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it, because they repented at what Joʹnah preached.   I wonder if the Ninevites even knew Jonah was in the fish for three days.
