This is an interesting thread. I have not even thought about these things for years. I will add that if you are not a jew, the Mosaic does not apply to you anyway. As has been pointed out by NC, the law was between physical Israel and Jehovah. The dictionary defines fulfilled as "to bring to an end:finish or complete."

Mosaic Law - Can anyone help to explain
by Bells ini'm hoping someone can shed a little light in regards to the witnesses stance around mosaic law?.
as i understand it, they don't follow the law, however do take some principles from it.. .
so - do they think that the mosaic law came directly from god?

JW Study - OUT!!
by uk_ex_jw ina few months ago, i posted about a study who was getting baptised this summer at the upcoming dc.. we discussed a few things on fb.
i showed him evidence that the watchtower does not have the truth.
the last i heard was that he had gone to the elder's with the information i had given him.. i haven't heard from him since.. however, yesterday he contacted a jw, elder's son on fb.

Good job! I tell my friends about how the WTS treats people who disagree them and talk to them about JWs beliefs as often as I can. Most of them want nothing to do with jws.

by JWdaughter inanyone ever read stephen king's book "thinner"?

Yes, get to a doctor ASAP. There are several reasons why you could be loosing weight. One of the things we ask at the hospital when we admit a patient is "Have you lost > 10 pound in the month without trying?"If the answer is yes, the doctor wants to find the reason for the weight loss. Get to the doctor ASAP.

I am a believer. I just cannot believe that there is not intelligence behind everything I see on this earth, including humans. I also believe that the creator could have used evolution to do it all. I think I believe in the Big Bang Theory but I need to read up on it. I don't take everything in the Bible as literal and I don't believe the Bible is inerrant since reading the book "Misquoting Jesus."

WTS website-VNR Explaining Two Witnesses???
by Had Enough inin response to my call about the dateline show tonight, my daughter has just sent me an email to check out the media section of the wts official website....particularly the vnrs...video news releases.
they are all typical pr but...... this one below is the wts's explanation that the "two witnesses" requirement is not true.
maybe i'm just tired out tonight..but can anyone understand or explain what this "councel for the jw's" is trying to say?.

I'm surprised that whoever wrote this does not make himself clear. His writing skills leave much to be desired, imo. I don't believe this statment coincides with what they have said elsewhere but maybe they have received new light and changed their policy.
What does "bump" mean?

June 2012 Our Kingdom Mini$$$try: How Can You Give U$$$ Your Money After You're Dead?
by sd-7 ini noticed the june 2012 our kingdom ministry question box, which asks, "what should be kept in mind if we want some or all of our assets to go to jehovah's organization upon our death?".
the article recommends preparing a will so as to potentially distribute "some or all...to jehovah's organization" and gives this concluding advice to trustees of said will:.
"a trustee or executor should be aware that whether the estate is large or small, liberties should not be taken with the assets.

That does sound crass and it does sound like a veiled threat. They come across as vultures. Do they not realize how this sounds?

Is it slander if what a person says is true? Was this man's name on on the list of pedopliles when he abused Candace?

From what I understand the borg has a policy of advising the elders not to report child abuse to the proper authorities or doing anything about it. This placed Candace, and others, at risk for sexual molestation by this pedophile. The borg's policy is against the law and therefore they are held lible for any sexual abuse that took or has taken place. Someone can correct me if I am wrong. What this man did was not only as sin,but a crime. Also, that 2 witness to a crime or sin is stupid. How many pedophiles abuse a child in front of anyone else, unless that other one is also taking part in the abuse. That is a stupid policy. No court or jury is going to go along with that type of reasoning.

Writing an Op-Ed Post for the New York Times
by Band on the Run ini posted on another thread that the ap report in the nyt was disappinting.
my thought is to write to the ombudsman or at least an editor.
the article was a joke when held against standard nyt reporting.. so many issues are raised that are applicable to all religions and wider societal concerns.
