Why would Adam or Eve choose the tree of knowledge instead of the tree of life.
by smiddy inplease help me out here .. in genesis 2:16 it says " and jehovah god also laid this command upon the man: from every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction.
17 but as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it , for in the day you eat from it ,you will positively die.. ok we get that , but what about this ?.
wouldnt it make more sense to forbid the eating of the tree of life first ?

Tree of life it had healing in it! They could have received their curses then went to the tree of life for some ever lasting healing fruit. Darn them! So much for extra knowledge. God gave them more brains and they did not even try to out smart him! Well that is what happens when they depended on a serpent to do their thinking!

Putting Things into Perspective
by startingover13 insome time has passed since my disfellowshipping, and even more time since i've been to a meeting.
with the stress of finally moving out, university, and work issues, i haven't had much time to reflect on my past life as one of jehovah's witnesses and what it really meant.
as i left my hometown on the bus yesterday evening, i finally had some "chill" time.

I did not look at Watchtowers for years! I just started to read them again looking for the basic ending. But it seems the ending is gone. Study with Jehovahs Witnesses.
Anyhow, something is changing about their writing style. It sounds nice and simple until I got to Hail Jesus 100 year anniversary. They are celibrating Jesus kingship staring 1914.
Again one can read several articles then the hook starts! If it looks like an occult it is.
It very hard for exJW to become involved with another religion. But I think it is also a big mistake if they dont.
Dealing with Trinity is the hardest subject once you get past that one another church could keep you from loneliness and fullfill your spirituality.

I doubt that they would ever admit to another of sinning. Have ever notice how fat these guys are that is a sin.
The followers are sinners and are encouraged to confess their sins so they can be disfellowshipped,marked. Supposedly,it places the fear in the younger Jehovahs witnesses to never sin or else look how unhappy that dfd person is!
I do not think the JWs believe in confessing their sins to one another. Sad they could apply a simple bible scripture to help one another instead of hindering.

Who is the faithful and discreet slave?
by wearewatchingyouman inwhen i discuss things with my father regarding whether a governing body is needed for christians one theme that is constant with him is "if it's not the gb who is the faithful and discreet slave - who else is giving food in these days to god's people?".
i've been working on a response to this for the last couple of months and am just curious as to who christians who are ex-witnesses interpret the faithful and discreet slave to be, and the parable in general.. .
i guess i'm just looking to round out my argument and have a few different angles.

My little guy asked me why I don't go to the meetings

he has been asking me why i haven't been going to the meetings recently.
i couldn't avoid it any longer so i sat down with him and told him that mommy has learned some things from the bible that is different from what the meetings teach.
