I have been inactive for a few years now.As much as I would like to disassociate myself,it's not worth losing my family over. It's kinda funny though....I haven't been to a meeting in almost 5 years, but I have never been shunned.I ran into an elders wife the other day in a store, and she gave me a big hug! LOL If only she new what I really think about the religion!

Going where the "Need is Great"
by OUTLAW inlets go back in time, back to the late 60`s early 70`s..armagedon is coming and the wbts wants it`s members to sell every thing they got and preach in areas where there are few or no dubs..where did the people you know go?..my parents packed up their belongings and went to..the friggin bible belt of b.c..lol!
a good wind storm would knock a few christians out of trees there were so many..a bloody church on every street corner, and every one of them had the truth..so why the bible belt?..there were`nt many dubs there at the time, but most importantly property was cheap.a smart dub could make a killing at real estate, and they did..more money than you could shake a dead donkey at,lol!....my bud`s dad also went where the need was great.the dumb-ass religion broke his family up,his wife being a none believer and all.so where did my buds anointed dad go?..hawaii,lol!
where else would you go to rough it out till armagedon?

Back in '86 my sister went to County Cork Ireland to serve where the need was great. She met her now husband there. He was from England, and he also was serving where the need was great. As soon as they hooked up, they got out of there, and as far as I know, they've never gone to any other place to serve where the need was great. They are unfortunately still in the org though. Lots of people in my old cong go every summer for a few weeks to serve where the need is great. I never wanted to do that . I had a hard enough time preaching in my own element, never mind an unfamiliar one!!!

hmmmm....yeah, what Xander said ( I sure can't say it any better ). I always wondered that if we were made in the image of god, then how come all this human suffering bothers me, yet doesn't bother him? hmmmmm......maybe because he doesn't exist? I sure don't have the answers, but if there is a god, then who can give me a real answer to why he allows such suffering? The witness answer never washed with me, and neither has any other answer.

LyinEyes, I kinda know what you're talking about. You feel like your heart is going to explode out of your chest, and it's all you can do to tell yourself to breathe! Here's a question ( you'll probably think I'm crazy! ).....have you ever been asleep, and you hear something, and try to wake yourself up, but you can't move? You can see yourself trying to move your body, but no matter how hard you try you can't wake yourself up? And you are trying so hard because something frightening may occur, but you just can't do it? Okay, you'll all think I'm crazy! Just curious if any one else has that happen sometimes. Oh yeah, and back to the subject, when I get panic attacks, I try to breathe deeply, and remind myself that things aren't so bad, and I will get through it.

I have to agree with Xander....being a witness teen sucked! Being a twenty-something witness sucked too! When I turned 30 a few years ago,I said enough is enough! I need some fun in my life!
LisaBobeesa's list pretty much sums it all up.Let me just add college to that list.My mother forced me(against the wishes of my juinor high guidance counselor) to go to a Vocational school so I could learn a trade,so that when I graduated I would be able to support myself so I could regular pioneer. College was out of the question,so I did the normal witness teen girl thing, and got married at 18.
I feel that I missed out on so much, especially socially. When I started a new job 6 years ago,I finally knew what it was like to develop normal relationships with people.I was able to make friends with people that had common interests. It was hard being a teen and having to have friendships forced on you. There was only a couple of kids in my hall that I felt close too.Other than religion,I didn't have much in commen with most of the witness kids.Plus you always had to have your guard up,for fear you would say or do something that they would tell on you about.Because they cared....right.
It would be great to relive being a teen, under normal circumstances. But since that can't happen,we all move on.Sometimes it depresses me,but I try to have fun in my life now.
