i was amazed how many high school and college aged kids were there....jk rowling certainly has a gift.
My fourteen year old loves the Harry Potter books. He got his in the mail on Saturday. Funny thing is though, at the grocery store where I work, they put the book out at around 10 PM, so I could have just gotten it then.
My son keeps trying to get me to read the books, but I'd just as soon watch the movies as they come out. I prefer a little more grown-up read myself.
Btw, he finished the book the next day!

This is so funny. In Boston the number belongs to a dentist office, and they are getting a little agrivated over it. They had a little blip about it on the news the other night.
Btw, I saw the movie and thought it was hilarious. I loved it when Jim Carreys character was trying to figure out a more organised way of dealing with all the prayers, so he decided to use the internet. Instead of Yahoo, the web page was YAHWEH ( and they sang the little jingle singing YAHWEH instead of Yahoo ), and it said " You have prayers ". Too funny.

those that love music, poetry, literature,etc.......do you feel that if you weren't a witness, that you could have grown in your talent or "gift"?
Most definately. Being artistic, I had dreams of going to an art school, but of course college was a no-no. I dreamed of doing theatre, but that wasn't allowed either. So I would attend play after play, wishing I was the one up on stage. Atleast my mom did let me take dance classes for 6 years ( although my worldly grandparents paid for it.....thanks grammie and grampa ).

through the means of educational tv (such as the simpsons), i have always thought that a sufferer from tourettes syndrome cussed and swore for most of his waking life.. however, just a few moments ago, i encountered this in thursdays the times:.
manchester united expect to complete the acquisition of tim howard, the american goalkeeper who suffers from tourettes syndrome, within a fortnight.
Many people with Tourette don't swear uncontrollably. My brother has Tourette, as does one of my nephews ( and we think his brother may as well, but he isn't old enough to be properly diagnosed ), and neither one of them swears. My brother does make quite a few strange noises though. He has this new tic that makes him make a huge whooping sound ( high pitched mind you ) after he finishes a sentence. He told me he is driving himself crazy! lol It was pretty tough for him growing up. At the hall they would ask my mother to have him sit in the 2nd school. He tried so hard,at meetings he mainly did a lot of throat clearing and facial tics. I thought it was mean of them to single him out. I could understand if he was swearing, but he wasn't, and he wasn't really disturbing anyone. No wonder he doesn't like witnesses.
I went with my sister to an all day seminar on Tourettes. One of the speakers ( she was awesome ) was a French teacher, and she was relating some of her stories. One of her ticks made her wave her left hand in the air and bang on something if there was a suface near by. Any way, she was driving in her car, and she started to have this tic, and a few drivers thought she was sticking up her middle finger at them so they did it back. She had such a good sense of humour, she said she just smiled back at them ( she said "what am I supposed to do, throw some Tourette literature out my window so they could understand?" ).
personally, i find catholicism too weird and if followed properly, just another "cult".
if i was not raised as a witness, i probably would have been a "home baptist" or something like that.
what do you think you would have been, religiously speaking, if you were not first a witness?
Since I grew up in the jw religion, it's hard to venture a guess as to what I would have been. If left to choose for myself, then I would say no religion. But that's after years of being in a cult, which totally made me hate all religions. Maybe if I didn't have the experiences I did, I would feel differently. If my mom hadn't become a witness when I was four, my guess is I would have been raised Catholic ( I was baptised Catholic as a baby ), or I could have been raised a Quaker, because that's how my mom was raised ( she had to convert to Catholicism to marry my dad ). I guess I will never really know the answer to this question.
isaac was still breast-feeding at 5. can you imagine him being old enough to get baptized?.

they will be giving their first assembly parts at the district convetion on 2 days june 8th and august 3rd...their father will also be in the part and he is also participating in the drama.
Sheesh. In my old hall, they really frowned upon baptising anyone younger than 12 ( unless they were super smart and spiritual, then maybe age 11 ). Is this how the society gets their numbers these days? Baptising 1st graders? IMHO, these folks are getting crazier by the minute!
i've been doing some reading on agnostics lately and i've also been doing some thinking of my own.. see, the way i see it is i do believe that there is *a* god or maybe even more than one.
i also don't disbelieve satan or demons but i do think they're way overrated.
i just think that we don't have sufficient information.
I feel pretty much the same way. I believe there's something there, just not quite sure what. I don't really believe in the bible though.Maybe parts are inspired, maybe not. All I know is I read enough of it as a jw to last me a lifetime.
