i know a lot of christians, not just jws, don't feel comfortable celebrating halloween.
for me, it's just an excuse to have fun.
are there a lot of you out there who have fun on halloween?
Hallowe'en is my favourite holiday! I also host a Hallowe'en party every year and now my relatives and friends expect it of me - they're already giving me suggestions for this year. It's an absolute blast!
Many Europeans I know don't really celebrate it there or do much on Hallowe'en, seems to be more a North American thing.

I guess you've heard by now that it was one gunman, 25 years old. A 20-year old girl died of her wounds; three hospitals had received the wounded: the General, the Royal Victoria and Jean Talon.

My boss' wife works there as a teacher. She saw the gunman, he was firing shots into the air then she (obviously) turned and ran. The metro line is closed, and the whole area is cordoned off, up to the Atwater Club, up the hill past Sherbrooke street. Alexis Nihon Plaza has been evacuated from what my cousin's son told us. He attends Dawson but was in another part of the building when they were told to leave, so he didn't know what was really happening, just turned and ran like a bat out of hell. He's home now and they're watching the news.
It's just horrible.
I guess I should also check my home agenda before replying ! I'm probably free on the evening of the 23rd, and perhaps Friday the 29th, but am waiting for confirmation on another event. Other than that I won't have much time to meet up with everybody.

It'd be cool to see you again, Scully. The weekend of Sept. 23rd/24th is free for me, but not the first weekend of October. I find Gibby's and Moishe's overpriced for what you get. And the last time I was at Moishe's the service wasn't the greatest. Montreal's got tons of restaurants, so finding one shouldn't be a problem.

i am proud to announce the delivery of a bouncing 'baby' girl, 120 or so pounds and about 63 inches long, after an uneventful 11 hour drive.. in other words, i've "imported a daughter" (she's posted a little here under the handle abbadette).
she's sixteen now and has decided to come and live with her dad.
as this involves changing country, leaving her mum, brother, sister and friends behind, and going to school where she doesn't (yet) understand a word of the language it is (in my biased opinion) really rather brave.
What great news Abaddon! That's absolutely fantastic - tell Abadette on our behalf that she's one smart 16-year old to make a decision like that (we know you already know that ).
I would guess that one thing to help her ease into the sudden changes in her world would be for her dad to make up for all those missed birthday and Christmas parties and presents .
