  help please

  i just wanted to see if anyone out there could help with my situation.

  my husband and i are inactive witnesses very very recently.

  we separated as we are both very unhappy with our lives.. my husband was raised a jw and has gotten flack his whole life by elders.

  Welcome!

  Does your husband still believe it's the truth? Would he read Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz? Or Apocalypse Delayed by James Penton? That may ease the guilt he has, that he's doing the wrong thing by granting himself some happiness. When he realizes how the organization is run he'll probably feel pain and anger, but will be freed from guilt and remorse at not seeming to ever be able to measure up.

  According to the Bible, Jehovah is a happy god, and there is love among his true followers. If a person isn't happy and isn't loved by those members of his religious organization, they cannot have the truth, no matter how many times the WTS says they are God's channel of communication. If the love isn't obvious, then it can't be the right religion. And it is not the individual's fault if they don't feel that love - the Bible says that agape love is extended to all, not a select few within teh congregation.

  Therapy will help - so will this board.

  1 Year anniversary of WT QUOTES

  well it has been one year since i first started promoting the quotes web site, about 15 months ago when quotes and i were reunited i recall looking at the counter at the bottom of the page and he had about 17,000 visitors.

  as i look today there is over 39,000 happy visitors, and what a pleasure it has been spreading the good word!

  when i stopped going to meetings at 16 i had read nothing but knew things didn't add up at the watchtower!

  Congratulations! The Quotes website has certainly helped me see the light! Only a year and already such positive results! Just imagine when the work starts "speeding up"!

  BTW, do you need any of the more current issues? or the latest CD-ROM? I still attend occasionally and much of my stuff ends up in the shredder. If it can help anyone else, then I can mail it to you every so often.

  I'm so sorry (although unfortunately not surprised) to hear of what the elders did to you. Some "refuge" huh? (Isaiah 32).

  For the first time I sent out Valentine's Day e-cards today - though I'm free and single, I sent out friendship ones to several people and also received some cool ones.

  Mac and Bittersweet: yes, school was horrible. That brought back some very unpleasant memories. Being a kid is hard enough without the ostracism and being made to feel mean because of something so silly and innocuous as Valentine's day cards . Oh well, better make up for it now!

  Isaiah's Prophecy- Light for all Mankind??

  i don't know if anyone else has posted this yet, but i must say, that the isaiah's prophecy books are the most boring drivel i have ever had to endure.

  i don't know which member of the writing department or the gb wrote this 2 part set, but i have to say that it is super-duper-dull beyond words.

  perhaps the author suffers from alzheimers and forgot that he wrote the same thing again and again and again... .

  Yeah, Isaiah volume 1 was where I stopped reading WTS publications. It and Volume 2 are horrendous. While on the topic of boring meetings, the Ministry School has certainly dumbed-down lately. I went once since the new year began and almost nodded off in my chair. The brothers don't even need to do intros, conclusions, to the Bible reading, if in fact there is Bible reading. Sometimes it's just droning about a few paragraphs in the Watchtower. Get up, read a few paragraphs, sit down. That's it. No explanation, commentary, nada. AWFUL

  Oh well, on to a better topic. It's lunchtime!

  reading the march 2003 okm brought up a question i've had for a long time....why do christians feel the the death of jesus was this unbelievably loving act by both god and christ?

  i mean, god knew his son would be faithful to death (because of prophecy...not much of a test on j.c.

  SixOfNine: It makes sense with respect to biblical interpretations of the last supper I've been exposed to/believed. Catholicism and the transubstantiation for one. So yeah, it makes sense. And if he made it all up, it still makes sense. More sense than paying a ransom, having Jesus bodily present in the Eucharist, etc., etc.,

  Francois, you must have been posting same time I was!

  This remembrance is the believers symbolic meeting with Him. When you become spirit-conscious, The Master is actually present, and his spirit fraternizes with the spirit of the Father, which indwells us each one: the kingdom of heaven is within you.

  Now that makes sense. As I'm just exiting the JWs at present, I think I'm more agnostic than anything else, you know - all the suffering, why do Ethiopians have to suffer through another horrendous famine like the one in 84-85, when all I'm worried about here is the price of gas? Just because they were born there and I was born in North America? Survivor's guilt, whatever, it doesn't make sense. But at least your explanation is logical, and really very simple. If only I could believe again!

  Wow I love this topic! AlanF and Francois, I really enjoyed reading your posts (AlanF, I've read several of your essays already and they have been very helpful - thank you). Francois, please wake up soon (rested and refreshed). I want to learn more about your philosophy on this and how you came to it. I could never figure out how the WTS culled four basic qualities of God (love, wisdom, power, justice) from the Bible and said in effect: these are it and it explains al-you-need-to-know on the essence of who/what God is. Everything's on a scale, measured exactly and doled out accordingly. Of course, we all know how finicky the WTS about measuring things, they even have to do it with God's qualities. Never made sense to me. I was hobbled by using the Bible, and in particular the JW version and their "infallible" interpretation of it.

  So Francois, please wake up soon. Waiting........
