Any research on Fred Franz?
by Spudinator injust curious if anyone out there has done or knows of an extensive biography of fred franz.
since he was such a pivotal person in the wtbts it would be interesting.
i know that the bible students are writing a biography of charles t. russell and alan f has said that someone is writing a bio of j.f.

I heard him In Montreal in 1985...He quoted Rutherford from 1919 who supposedly said this to Jehovah while giving a prayer in prison...He yelled...If you free me from this prison Jehovah I will drive the sword of truth deep into the belly of the great harlot.
Shotgun: did you used to live in Montreal? I was there also at that talk, but I don't remember anything specific that Freddy said, or yelled. I was, however, sitting behind two elderly sisters who had fallen asleep and, well, you can guess what happened. When Freddy bellowed "JEHOVAH ..." at one point i his talk I thought the two of them were going to drop dead of massive coronaries right then and there.
The following day he gave the public talk at my mother's hall. You should have seen the drove of dubs, you'd have thought it was the second coming. One sister gave him a big kiss on the cheek - he didn't seem to mind.

ANOTHER UN DIRECTORY (97/98) SHOWING WTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE UNITED NATIONS
by hawkaw inyou have observed the scanned copies of the pertinent sections of 1999-00 directory, the 01-02 directory and the 1994 directory published by the united nations department of public information.
the scans show all of the non governmental organizations who were or are associated with the united nations.
it was a lot of scanning but i think it was worth it.

I'll print it off Randy's website and bring it with me, that way the librarian will be able to direct me exactly where.
I'm planning on showing this to a super-dub who works a couple of desks down from me, with the appropriate shock and horror written all over my face at the mere thought of the WTS doing something so underhanded and devious .

Remember Dateline??
by Joyzabel ini'm trying to get some comments that active jehovah's witnesses may have heard after dateline aired back on may 28, 2002.
do you remember any comments made about the dateline program either made from the platform at the kingdom hall, or in private conversations with other jw's?
how were the people who where on dateline viewed in your area, especially at the kingdom hall or by other jws?

This may seem weird but the Dateline program was the "AHA" moment for me to the the Watchtower Society being full of sh&t, and I didn't even see the program.
A dub here at work told me briefly about it; she seemed rather upset by it, but it was more to the effect of "a few elders messed things up and it gave Jehovah's organisation a bad name".
At that moment I knew that the problem was a systemic failure on the part of the WTS, and that they could in no way be serving God.
I knew elders who would have acted the same way, blame the victims and protect the perpetrators of the crimes, even though I knew of no specific cases to which I could point.
And for some reason I knew the program was true, the victims were right, and the WTS was wrong.
I logged onto NBC's website, got the link to the SilentLambs' website, and from there arrived here.
So thanks to the courage of those victims and to the Dateline show, I'm free of the Borg. Without even watching the show.

Personally, I spent 15 years studying the Dub-view of christianity. I then spent the next 8 years searching for a form of christianity I could accept. Finally I decided that its nothing more than a bunch of ancient morals/myths/tales/traditions bound together with the added "bonus" that people believe that god inspires them.
IMO, christianity and the belief in the bible, has pushed us further away from god. Until we move on from these ancient beliefs and start searching for god in our own way, we will forever remain in the darkages
I totally agree. As for the teachings of Christ as described in the Bible, many other religious and non-religious people feel/teach/live that same way.

El Kabong, I'm sorry you had to face that terrible decision about putting your mum in a nursing home. We do everything we can humanly accomplish and yet we still feel guilty. Damn emotions.
I know you'll visit her often, and there will probably be improvement in her speech and mobility. And make some time for yourself every day to unwind, even if it's just 15 minutes or so.
My thoughts are with you.

okie dokie, so I'm not to send this info along to my e-mail contacts so I'll just do a synopsis on an apostate board .
Things are fine at Bethel, they're not in the thick of things. And of course meeting attendance is up which means that "the Devil is jealous and wants to stir up problems to stop the work". Makes me sick just reading that, people are being murdered and terrorized and it's bring up meeting attendance so that must surely prove Jehoover's blessing. What a bunch of twisted minds.
Also mentioned in this e-mail is that because of following the organization's direction to not get involved in politics Jehoover's people are safe and sound. Then again, it also says that Jehoover's people thrive under difficulties and that worldly people may be shaken out of their complacency and realize these are the last days.
So I guess no matter what happens in Haiti or how many people are murdered or children left orphaned it's all good, good, good.
