Pregnant by JW
by xhillconnection inhelp--my daughter is pregnant by a disfellowshipped jw.
he has recently been re-attending meetings and has decided to get reinstated.
he told my daughter that the relationship is off because it would be too difficult to have a relationship between a jw and her(holidays, family etc.

It's a blessing in disguise that he doesn't want to marry her. If he goes back to being a JW and she was his wife her life would be a misery. He would not participate in any birthday or holiday celebration; he would be attending 5 hours a week attending indoctrination meetings plus he'd be putting in hours going door-to-door. He would deny the baby a blood transfusion if it was in his custody when it needed one. He would be non-stop trying to get her to become a JW.
JW males have an "obligation" to keep their families "in line" if they want to survive in the religion. They believe they are the head of the family and the woman is to be in subjection. He would be looked down on if he couldn't force your daughter to convert.
Have her go to court and get full custody, and child support. And she should NOT let him take the child to the JW meetings either.
Whew! I'm sorry for the predicament. Best of luck and keep us posted!

WTS and donations
by freedom96 inmany christian type religions, organized or not, believe in giving 10% like was done in the old days in the bible.
you even have the mormons, who must give 10%.. as money hungry as the wts is, why have they not gone for that as well?
they can always justify anything for any reason.

so how are they getting so rich?
They own vast amounts of real estate in Brooklyn and pay no taxes. They have free labor in their factories. They grow their own food at the farm. The jws pay for literature whether they place it or not. Many people put lots of money into the contribution box.
They get their halls built with free labor and donated supplies. They have shrewd investments. They have a worldwide unpaid, uncommissioned sales force of millions. Many people die and leave them their homes and estates. They are encouraged to remember the society in their wills.
They probably also get lots o' money from their celebrity members... the Jacksons and the Williams come to mind.

Did you count a whole hour of time for that one little post? Oh, right, you had to spend some time registering and stuff, and booting up the computer takes time too.

A Question To All You Women Out There
by SpannerintheWorks inyour partner gets home from work, and he's in a shitty mood.
he kicks the cat (twice) and the doors are hanging off their hinges.
1. say: did you have a bad day at the office, dear?.
-
PurpleV
Anybody who would kick a cat is obviously suffering from repressed rage. More than likely this is because he hates his mother, who gave him lots of enemas as a child. Repressed rage can be indicative of a more serious personality disorder, Certified Asshole Syndrome. Valium can make this personality disorder worse. Anyone encountering a man presenting acute CAS symptoms should NOT ignore them, they should grab the cat and go sleep over their mothers house for the night.

Have you joined another religion?
by freedom96 ini don't think i will never join another organized religion.
that being said however, i have enjoyed going on occasion to non-denominational churches, watching the band play music, and the speaker.
if you did or would attend another church regularly, which one would you go to and why?

JW/HLC visit to our hospital
by ScoobySnax inyesterday jehovahs witnesses and the hospital liason committee visited our hospital to donate a blood cell saver machine which had been funded by the local congregations in our county of kent in england.
a buffet lunch was provided, along with 4 talks to a large audience of surgical and medical consultants, anaetheologists, paedatricians, and obstetraticians (sp!
) about the future of blood and the transfusion of such products.

Jehovahs Witnesses may die because of their refusal to accept a blood transfusion, but that is there personal choice, to them they are maintaing there faith and trust in Jehovah, to them that is paramount. I'm not in a position to deny them of that....are you?
No, I'm not, and didn't mean to imply that I was. My only objective was to point out that it's NOT a personal choice, they are obeying the WTS. If the WTS said tomorrow blood was OK they'd accept it. If they changed their minds again a year from now and said it's NOT OK, they'd refuse it. Because they believe if they don't obey the society their everlasting life is in jeapordy.
It's also not much of a personal choice either, if when they DO decide to accept blood (their personal choice, right?) they will be disfellowshipped and shunned and lose family and friends and be told they will die at Armageddon. Some "personal" choice, if an organization is allowed to nose in on it. Do you know, when my father was receiving albumin ("allowed," actually) in the ICU, some JW nurse called the elders to report it? Personal choice indeed.
They're not maintaining faith in trust in Jehovah, but to an organization.
And speaking about being in a position to deny anything... why are JW parents allowed to be in a position to refuse blood for a child and let this child die? That's not the child's personal choice. And I can't imagine God being happy about the deaths of these innocents.
Please, don't take this personally, I'm rather glad you posted this, because it IS interesting. I just can't let the opportunity pass to point out the hypocrisy.
Hugs 2 U,

Going in service on holidays
by dsgal in.
remember how embarrassing it was to show up at someone's door on a holiday?when i was a teenager i went out with a very zealous pioneer sister on christmas day.we worked an upscale neighborhood of town and of course all the servants were off so they would answer the door themselves.i rang one doorbell and a lady came to the door and i could see her family inside sitting in chairs in a circle opening gifts.they all looked at me to see who in the world was calling on christmas,i suppose.i gave my presentation with a red face and she just looked at me and said"don't you know today is christmas?
"how embarrassing is that?so glad i don't have to do that anymore.

I just remember one Halloween, my mother forced me to go, one lady was so kind to me and gave me some candy. I'll never forget her. We were passing trick-or-treaters in costume and there was I in my sensible shoes and knee length skirt carting a bag containing... magazines! Isn't this, like, child abuse? Although in hindsight, I guess my attire WAS a costume of sorts, now wasn't it?
Q: What are you going to go as on Halloween?
A: A JW!
NOT!

while donation and prolonged storage, and then re-infusion of blood by JWs may not be acceptable.....the cell saver machine removes that dilemna. A continous "circuit" is maintained by this machine from extraction to re-infusion allowing witnesses to accept, as the "link" is not broken
Do you really believe God means this to be so complicated? What about all the people who died before this technology became available?
What's the DIFFERENCE if oxygen hits your own blood, or it becomes temporarily separated from you, before it goes back into your body? Is Jehovah really so PICKY? Don't you think He has better things to do than say, "AHA! The continuous circuit was broken! That person is now written out of my book of Life!"
Think about it.

I sincerely cannot see myself ever JOINING another religion. The thought of handing control over to any person or group again literally sickens me.
As it should. One should never hand over control of oneself to ANYONE or ANYTHING else. Easier said than done for all of us who did it once, though, right? [grin]
However, joining a church doesn't mean handing over control.
I CHOOSE to "belong" to the Episcopal church, where their "doctrine" consists of 1/3 Bible, 1/3 tradition, and 1/3 YOUR OWN CONSCIENCE AND BELIEF.
You don't HAVE TO do or believe anything you don't want.
I however, like worshipping GOD during the services (as opposed to bowing down to an organization,) I love the music, the good works (homeless shelter and pantry, community outreach, etc.) and finally learning what some of those complicated Bible passages really could mean.
Met a lot of great people who became lifelong friends, too.
Umm, I also get unconditional love there.
Hugs, V
