Opinions on a letter i am sending my family

hey guys.

both my mom, dad and sister have asked me to write them with my reasons and concerns for leaving the wts.

You did the smart thing and used ONLY WTS publications to refute doctrine. There is no where in there they can accuse you of using 'apostate' material.

a jw i have been debating with (who is df'd by the way) gave me the go ahead to send to him what i would consider times where the wt has lied or been totally dishonest with the membership, or just in general.

does anyone have any clear cut quotes from the wt that are obviously deceptive?

i already sent him a lot of info about 1874/1914, and also about some other stuff.

BAPTIZED WITTNESS W/QUESTIONS

i am a 20 year old baptized wittness who for the past year has been trying to do some serious reserach on all the things i have been made to believe in the wt society.it only makes sense that my research should not only include those in the wt publications and so therefore i need some help:

1. what is everyone's thoughts on society not allowing brothers to wear beards?

i read somewhere that russel(society's first prez) had a beard and the second pres( russel) wanted to completely dissassosiate anything having to do with russel and so therefore outlawed against them.

Regarding the president, the WT "society" has broken itself into many different legal corporations, mainly to diffuse liability because of the tons of lawsuits from victims of JW child molesters, tax purposes, and other things. It's mainly run by the lawyers and the writing department now. Ever since ~~crazy~~ Freddie Franz died, there haven't been many original new thoughts, which explains the fact that there is a lot less "new light" than there used to be and the articles are more repetitious and boring than ever.

ok, my parents have pissed me off so much with their denial and their refusal to even acknowledge my complaints against the borg.

they pretend everything is perfect at the kingdom hall and expect me to play nice to their dub friends so as to protect their own reputation.

this weekend in philadelphia, they are going to to their little convention and i have some evil thoughts.

what article was it when you were a witness that was the most complicated for you to understand?

i remember that there were a right few beaut's, dad being the wt conductor, of course we had to go through the finer detail getting to the most indepth meaning and how it linked up.

hmmmmmmm.. what was your worst watchtower study ever then?

I've got lots of gardening books, and my BF took a class at the NY Botanical Gardens and learned a lot. Believe it or not, one of the best gardening books I've got is "Gardening for Dummies," it's great!!

If you want vegetables, start with green beans! They are almost foolproof. They like lots of sun and water, and once you see the little purple flowers, get ready to start picking! I've got about 12 plants and have had six full servings in the last week alone. And I'm growing mine in CONTAINERS!!

It's fun to pick them too, the plants have lots of big leaves and so the beans "hide" -- just when you think you've found them all, you spot four more!

If eight-legged critters get at them, spray the leaves with mild dishwasher soap mixed with water.

Congrats becoming a gardener. I love gardening. I do mostly flowers but I have some herbs. Make sure you don't plant them too close together, especially things like parsley, because they spread out and can get crowded.

Pinch off the heads of herbs like basil and mint so that they branch out instead of getting too tall. Pinching will also make the plant live longer and give you more leaves!

If you're not into compost, it is the greatest thing for growing greener, more luxurious plants. If you've got room, put your kitchen leavings (vegetable only, not animal except for eggshells) in a corner, add a layer of dirt, add more stuff (apple peels, coffee grinds, wilted lettuce, etc.), add a layer of dirt, and turn it with a pitchfork or shovel weekly. Within a few short weeks, you will have rich, fertile compost to put on the topsoil, and the rain will wash the nutrients into the soil.

Done correctly, a compost need not smell, as bacteria start the process and the internal temperature of the compost gets so high that the decomposition is rapid and relatively odor-free. You can buy compost starter (a liquid with the bacteria you need in it) and add it to the pile. I have a barrel composter, which makes it easier to turn over than using a pitchfork

Come to think of it, I don't know why we were given the Family Book

i know it's a jw tradition at worldly weddings to give the stupid family happiness book.

i really don't know why it was given to us, since i told my mother that i have all the publications on the wt cdrom.

i could read it if i wanted to.. i'm guessing it's a way to enforce it, or possibly convert my fiance, which is very doubtful from everything i've told her, and especially after she saw the fifth estate special.

Does Anyone Else Ever Encounter This???

i have been in a relationship for about 2-1/2 years now, and it seems that every time we have an argument or disagreement, it usually turns out to be my fault according to the other person, and my upbringing as a jw is always brought into the light, and also my depressive moods, this person knowing background of my exit from the org.

and the feelings it has caused me.

it feels as though they are using this as a "scapegoat", because even if that person comes home in a bad mood, or has to do something that they don't like, and an argument insues, i automatically am made the "bad guy", even though i was previously in a good mood before things started, and am reminded by this person how i must not be taking my antidepressants, or am thinking too much about my past, etc.

My ex-husband used to do that constantly. He would start s*** and we'd get into a bad fight. It was never ever his fault. That is abusive behavior and I tolerated it for way too long.
