DEBRA! That was to be our secret!!
LOL
yesterday jehovahs witnesses and the hospital liason committee visited our hospital to donate a blood cell saver machine which had been funded by the local congregations in our county of kent in england.
a buffet lunch was provided, along with 4 talks to a large audience of surgical and medical consultants, anaetheologists, paedatricians, and obstetraticians (sp!
) about the future of blood and the transfusion of such products.
The HLC and JWs deserve praise for the efforts made.
Hi. It is nice to see the jws do something nice for the community for a change. That is so rare. We don't often see them donating food or shelter or any other essential humanitarian services to anyone but other witnesses, so for them to donate a machine seems out of character, but hey, who's to look a gift horse in the mouth?
However, this act of altruism, for me anyway, is nothing compared to the deaths of all those people who died from not taking blood transfusions (and organ donations too, before there was 'new light' on that. Oh, and 'new light' on vaccinations, too. WAIT, I forgot the 'new light' on blood fractions, like albumin. They were once forbidden, but now they're OK.)
What finally got me was the special WT or Awake mag with all the pictures celebrating the dead children who died not taking blood. Yes, what a loving God is Jah. I got the creeps so bad I'm not over it yet. Can you imagine the look on householder's faces when they found THAT issue shoved under their door? "Oh yeah, I really want to join that religion! Sign me up!"
What WILL the society do with old copies of that magazine when they finally get the inevitable 'new light' on the whole blood issue??
if the governing body of jehovah witnesses suddenly found themselves out of the power seat that they currently refuse to vacate what do you think might be a fitting job for them to fill?.
i vote for the gb to start making fortune cookie predictions.
finally they could put some of that self appointed spiritual powers to some worth while means.
I'd like to see them on a chain gang.
first, thank you, lucy, for replying to my other post regarding my wedding.. it was a very tough and rough to reach "the wedding ceremony".
as my mother-in-law put it, "it was a struggle".
some of you may know my story from my previous posts.
I'm going to pursue the Small Claims Court unless she pays me. I'm going to write a letter to her every month for 3 months, and see what happens
Since it's the society's shunning dictates that caused her to "fire" you and NOT pay you (the nerve!!!), I'd send a letter a WEEK to her and CC the elders, and threaten to take the whole LOT of them to court. You'll get paid, pronto.
after reading many posts on this site, it seems we all share the same types of fears.while witnesses, some were petrified to give a talk in the theocratic ministry school.
others were sick to their stomach to go out in door to door work.
if the elders said that they wanted to talk to you after the meeting, fear would set in throughout the whole night.
I am afraid of CLOWNS
hmmmm.
yes... but would jesus have an "i love me" bumper sticker?.
from the boston channel.... group asks 'what would jesus drive?'.
An Infiniti, of course!
i'm "cleaning house" got a lot of stuff that's just needs to go!
but i came across this newspaper clipping: .
or maybe it isn't coming.
The Watchtower should have excused itself seven fold for all there mistakes. I guess they are not humble enough.
No, no, no! We've NEVER EVER made a mistake. It's all the rank and file's fault for misunderstanding what was implied!
And, and... um... don't forget, we're TACKING into the wind! So reversing ourselves makes PERFECT sense!
Just because we advised on selling your home and full-time ministry in the early 70's, didn't mean we, umm... said we were POSITIVE the Big A was coming in 1975. If you lost your shirt and now have no retirement plan or education, that's your own fault!
Sheesh! You obviously have too much time on your hands if you have doubted The Organization! Get thee out in service more, and study harder!!

Congratulations! May you have many decades of happiness.
And now she fired me without any notice on the day when she was supposed to pay me.
She owes you money? Small claims court! Don't let her get away with that.

question 1: .
Charles T. Russell himself admitted how much the Adventists influenced him:
http://www.geocities.com/ekron35/charles.html
While he was still searching for truth, one evening in 1869, something happened that reestablished Charles' wavering faith. Walking along near the Russells' store on Federal Street, he heard religious singing coming from a basement hall. In his own words, this is what took place:
Seemingly by accident, one evening I dropped into a dusty, dingy hall, where I had heard religious services were held, to see if the handful who met there had anything more sensible to offer than the creeds of the great churches. There, for the first time, I heard something of the views of Second Adventists [Advent Christian Church], the preacher being Mr. Jonas Wendell . . . Thus, I confess indebtedness to Adventists as well as to other denominations. Though his Scripture exposition was not entirely clear, . . . it was sufficient, under God, to re-establish my wavering faith in the divine inspiration of the Bible, and to show that the records of the apostles and prophets are indissolubly linked. What I heard sent me to my Bible to study with more zeal and care than ever before, and I shall ever thank the Lord for that leading; for though Adventism helped me to no single truth, it did help me greatly in the unlearning of errors, and thus prepared me for the Truth.
