One hopeful possibility here amidst all the bad news. Although, it just may be 'a day late and a dollar short.'
I appreciate all the preparation ideas above.
this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.
there are a number of wtb&ts publications that are quite useful in doing research, but would be significantly better if they weren't theologically and self-servingly biased.
i'd like to find more reliable substitutions, especially from scholarly/secular sources, to help me, and others, get a look at the bible from a fresh perspective.
here's a short list of "cool" books i'd like for which id like to find corresponding replacements.. new world translation of the holy scriptures w/references = ?

if this has been posted before, then my apologies..... article in april ‘20 wt changes the view of the locust swarm prophecy...formerly believed to describe the worldwide preaching by anointed.
”simply put, these verses refer, not to our zealous preaching work, but to the activity of the babylonian army that invaded jerusalem in 607 b.c.e.”.
they also tie in the giving of holy spirit to the congregation at pentecost and thereafter.. the article is available to read in full on our least favourite website.. https://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/watchtower-study-april-2020/an-attack-coming-from-the-north/.
adam was told not to eat from the tree of knowledge for upon the very day of eating from it, he would die.
i had someone say that god lied because, adam didn't die that day but, the scriptures say to god a day is as a thousand years so, since adam lived 900+ years after eating , he indeed died within god's view of a day.
methuselah the oldest to ever live 969 years still within god's set time of a day.
please share this question.
why is he spiritual israel not innumerable?.
the literal seed of abraham was innumerable (heb 11:12; gen 22:17; 1ki 4:20).
Salomo, you might find this thread interesting.
i believe when we were in the jw cult, our brains and thoughts were hijacked by the governing body.
i truly believe the gb thinks all members are stupid and they laugh at them in their wednesday morning secret meetings.. one such teaching that i never heard anyone bring out or question yet the absurdity and contradiction is blatantly obvious is: revelation chapter 20 says that christ will reign for 1000 years.
it doesn't say he will reign more than a thousand yrs but only 1000 yrs.
Hi KrisMalone,
Actually, the brainwashing is even deeper than you think. Rev 20:4 does not say that Christ will reign for a thousand years. It says that, 'those beheaded . . . those who had not worshipped the beast or it image . . . and those who did not receive the mark . . . these came to life and ruled with the Christ for a thousand years.
Regarding the Christ, Heb 10:12-13 says that, 'after his sacrifice he went his way to heaven and sat down at the right hand of God until his enemies should be made as his footstool.' The writer is quoting/alluding to Ps 110:1.
1Co 15:25 also alludes to Ps 110:1, but Paul (the writer of 1Co) says 'he (Jesus) must rule until all enemies have been put under his feet.' In other words, Jesus' sitting at God's right hand is referring to his 'reigning.'
Heb 2:5-9 also has Jesus already "crowned" but with 'all his enemies not yet under his under his control.'
The upshot is that, according to these verses, Jesus started ruling after he returned to heaven. It is his faithful followers that 'rule with him for a thousand years.'
The WT has hidden nearly 1900 years of Jesus' rulership. And they have done it so well that one can read Rev 20:4 and still not see thru the WT subterfuge.
we keep seeing posters bringing col. 1.16 and john 1.3 up as proof that christ is excluded from the creative acts.
the proof they submit is that the words "all things [gk., pánta]" appear in these texts.
however, they are missing this important element from the discussion: the word "all" is rarely used in greek, and even in our everyday language to mean literally "everyone" or "everything" under the sky.
Hi Wonderment,
The reverse is true also. For example, WT has taken advantage of the truth of what you said to render 1Tim 2:4 as "all sorts of people . . ."
This rendering is necessary for the NWT since WT holds that only 144,000 are invited into the new covenant. Thus "all sorts of" people can be invited into the covenant, but "all" can't, per the WT. But the passage sets "all men/people" (anarthrous) opposite of "the man" (Christ Jesus, articular) who mediated the covenant, thus, arguing that the invitation is open to "all men/people", that is, all of mankind. (Compare Acts 17:30)
Anyways, thanks for posting the review of pas. (I might repost this elsewhere for easy reference. I'll make sure to credit you.)
can someone please help me with this, if you’ve looked into it before?.
i read somewhere that the witnesses didn’t celebrate the memorial on nisan 14 according to the jewish calendar.
i did a quick google check - seems next years memorial is on tuesday (nisan 13) rather than the wednesday, nisan 14 according to the jewish calendar.

In the 12/15/2013 Study WT, the study article that includes page 18 discusses whether the Memorial should be held on Nisan 14 or Nisan 15. The WT holds out for Nisan 14. But see this write-up that argues that both dates are moot for Christians.
