The Apostasy Within
by Ultimate Axiom inin the latest watchtower (july 15, 2014, page 14, paragraph 10) it says; today, jehovahs people are not often confronted with apostasy within the congregation.
still, when exposed to unscriptural teachings, regardless of the source, we must decisively reject them.. so, not often, but occasionally jws are exposed to apostasy within the congregation, and they are instructed to decisively reject it.
as we all know, the vast majority of the apostasy they are exposed to comes from the governing body.. i am meeting up soon with an old friend from the 1970s who i havent seen for decades, who is still an active jw, and who would really like to hear what i think about things.

1914 C.E. ....the false positive of "1914"
by jjones inin math, a false postive is a number that looks like the correct answer but is not.. .
i have written an article that discusses jehovah's witnesses interpretation of daniels prophecy of the "appointed times of the nations".
the article demonstrates mathematically that, if a person excepts that interpretation, the number "1914" could not possible equal the date 1914 c.e.

Almond:
Having been involved (as an elder) with cases like this, and appeals to cases like this, I can mention a couple of things. (Although, I will mention that there are some details in your post that are not quite clear to me):
If you married a DFed person, you will be DFed yourself. Even if the marriage is legit, your action is seen as a concrete decision to go against the DF arrangement. From my experience, this is an automatic decision from the Society's viewpoint. They won't accept any appeal. You can get reinstated sometime later, a year, maybe several years. But not right away. You sinned against the Society. The worst sin of all.
If you got married again before you were divorced, this is considered an adulterous marriage. And again, DFing is as automatic as it gets. You can appeal, but the appeal committee will turn you down. The logic is that a marriage is permanent and serious. It requires that you do your homework before you sign the papers. In cases of writing a 'pledge of faithfulness,' the Society wants you to get the OK from your elders first. I doubt that the elders' not having informed you first will work, especially if the 'pledge of faithfulness' material was already in print in the WT. JGNAT is right, the WT wants you to get your elders approval first in any areas where there is a question.

he created a nation with millions of citizens,.. he added about 1 million of them every 10 years. He made them stop serving that warmongering satan,.. he made them stop killing people in wars and armed conflicts,.. he made them stop doing things that are considered unhealthy like smoking long before other nations began banning this bad habit out. he managed to overcome racial problems and bounderies that divide the world and gathered a nation that is united from among all over the world.
It is interesting that the Society writes off Colossians 1:13 as evidence that Jesus bagan to rule in the 1st Century by saying that he was only ruling over his congregation. Yet, in the quote above, which is cited as evidence that Jesus has been ruling since 1914, all the things mentioned have to do with ruling over his congregation.
- (Colossians 1:13 rNWT) . . .He rescued us from the authority of the darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son. . .
For additional Scriptural reference concerning when Jesus began to rule (and whether it happened in 1914):
- Compare here (various verses concerning when Jesus began his rule), and here ( for how parousia or "presense" is spoken of in relation to Jesus), here (regarding the phrase "The Kingdom of God/Heaven has drawn near"), and here (regarding Ps 2:7 and its application to Jesus).

Great Crowd is NOT under the New Covenant...Where does it say this?
by Christ Alone ini was wondering if there was anywhere someone could point to in the bible for the watchtower belief that the great crowd is not included in the new covenant.
i know that this is their line of thinking when it comes to jesus being mediator.
they say that jesus is only mediator of the new covenant and since the gc is not under the new covenant, jesus is not specifically a mediator to them.

Peter in Babylon? - 1 Peter 5:13
by Bobcat infor any looking over the wt study article for 3-30-2014, paragraph 9 refers to peter spending time in babylon.
the paragraph speaks of peter living in babylon as if it were a well established fact.
in fact, the only evidence for this idea is 1 peter 5:13.. see here for a writeup that analyzes 1 peter 5:13 and whether "babylon" really means the city of babylon.

Snowbird:
- Also, those "great academies of Babylon" referenced in the Encyclopaedia Britannica seem to have been established after the destruction of Jerusalem, during the Diaspora, at which time Jewish scholars completed the Babylonian Talmud.
Is this referring to a dispersal after the Roman War? When I read it originally from the encyclopedia my first thought was the dispersal from the exile in the 6th century BCE.
