  can someone provide me some insight or past experience with the pros and cons to disassociating oneself versus getting disfellowshipped?

  besides the obvious of not having to deal with the lynch squad.

  Gopher, they dont say a word, theres one nice elder who has said hi but he was from a different congregation, the others including (ex) best friend, aunty, uncle (ex-elder, DF'd for aldultery and now divorced) and two cousins have been known to literally cross the street when they saw me coming.
  once my aunty was with my gran and i wanted to say hi but she whisked my gran quickly onto a bus, my gran isnt and has never been a witness and a couple of hours later, there they were in town shopping again so there was obviously no need for a bus ride, my aunty has a car!!!
  my gran didnt see me so id love to know what excuse she was told!!!

  Pagan & Wiccan, Ancient Wisdom

  being a christian pagan i though i'd ask of others here, what ancient wisdom do you know of, that really helps you to understand the world around us, our inter-relationships amongst kindred spirits?.

  would you like to share?.

  yes its odd, was odd enough to make 2 of my friends leave the religion, odd enough to make one of them have a full blown argument (swearing included) at the back of the kingdom hall after a meeting!

  which is the reason why ive been reluctant to come on here - even people from my old congregation who were not there for the announcement have not believed me, which dpoesnt really suprise me, hardly anyone who werent there belive me, and some on here too by the looks of it

  i was in a very bad congregation who did things the way they saw fit, i was DA'd but never baptised, i had elders knocking my door constantly - some from my cong to counsel me and some from another cong trying to grasp my story - they told me i shouldnt have been but if the elders in my cong had decided to do that, it must have been jehovahs will
  after i refused to talk to anyone else about it (and ran away from home) my brother told me it was announced on the platform i was DA'd and should be left to my own devices, they said on platform, i have chose to take satans path and i refuse to turn back - this was the reason they gave for me being DA'd

  I'm angry and scared

  i've been out of the witnesses for a year...and in that span i've become more of a skeptic towards any sort of religion or god.

  i don't know if i will ever again have faith in a supernatural, all loving and powerful being.

  i suppose this is because the only god i really know anymore is jehovah of the watchtower- who to me is nothing more than a jealous, angry and vindictive creature.

  i believe that every man (or womans) religion is in their own hearts, i followed a pagan path out of my own choice but only after 4 years of being against anything remotely religious then another 6 years of looking into any reigion that interested me, really got into buddhism for a bit but realised after all it wasnt for me

  now i live my life the way i want to - i still uphold certain things i learnt from the witnesses, mainly practical things and also practice buddhist type meditation, i basically do what i believe is right for me

  Got an earring......

  i first wanted an earring at about age 8, when i saw a movie with pirates.

  a gold hoop in one ear & an eye-patch, man that was way cool!.

  by the time i was old enough to get one, the gay(coming-out) thing was in full bloom & anyone with an earring was considered gay.. next, i get into the borg & you know what thats about.. finally, after all these years, i am wearing my earring, a gold hoop(no pirate eye-patch though), woopie!.

  Childhood memories of the "Truth"

  can you remmember any of the things you got up to or happened to you when you were a child growing up in the "truth"?.

  i remmeber once in a meeting throwing up all over an elderly sister.. also i remmeber the time when we were playing out side and there was this kid most of us didn't like, and a wall that had a very rought surface to it.boy and wall meet , blood goes every ware, parents run outside and panic.. the rest of us laught.. how about the rules you had to follow?.

  me and my brother were banned from drawing while the meeting was on.. that probably because we used to draw over all the walls.. also i remmember my dad smaking us before we went to the meeting , just incase we did something wrong.. yes it was different being a watchtower kid.

  i remember being made to answer up at meetings - i was sooo scared of the microphone and really didnt want to do it, my dad used to take my hand and hold it up, eventually i caught on and hid in the toilets during the watchtower study, got in big trouble for that
