many religions, including the catholic church, have adopted a blanket approach for all 'ministers of religions' and volunteers with regards to compliance with the working with children act 2005.. another point worthy of mentioning is that all religions and organisations have adopted, and have made publicly available a child protection policy, a working with children protocol, a child abuse handling policy, and a privacy policy.. victoria police also made a submission in which they launched an attack on the catholic church in relation to interfering with police investigations into child abuse.
the catholic church has now placed a "gag" order on all priests and religious personnel prohibiting them from talking to the media or the public about the inquiry.. notably absent was any submission made by the religion of jehovah's witnesses and the watch tower society.. an interesting submission came from the seventh-day adventist church.
their 65 page submission was submitted with the follow letter published on page 2.... .

Are there any sanctions imposed with this absence? If Watchtower refuses to engage what measures can be taken by parliament to force them into action and accountability?
in a separate thread, there's been intense discussion about how the gb is still seeking to tighten its grip on the rank and file.
the latest evidence is the january 2013 watchtower which rolls out hugely predictable statements about not doing anything to upset one's (jw) family by, for example, being in email contact with a disfellowshipped witness.
it's hard to stifle the yawns.
I would agree the articles are generated from the perceived needs as reported by BOEs and COs and DOs specifically related to what they are experiencing in the congregations. Ever since the disfellowshipping announcement was modified to say "so and so is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses" attitudes from rank and filers have changed. Many "independent" thinkers simply don't pay any heed to the admonition to practice shunning. Of course there are still those trying to "reach out" for privileges or elders, servants and their family that will practice the shunning as to avoid bricks being thrown at their glass houses.
Last month I talked to a sister who was devastated at being disfellowshipped without a hearing and without being told what the allegations were. She was in great pain thinking she would lose contact with and be shunned by her mother who has done so much for her throughout her entire life. Today the sister received a card in the mail from her mother and was very afraid to open it. Happily her 70 year old mother told her that she loved her and has since her birth and always will and NOTHING will ever come between them.
I believe more and more family and friends are taking this stance regarding shunning. Therefore the WT articles trying to vilify the actions.

neither of us new we both had personal abuse issues and i am moved by her personal story.
I am currently working on posting videos to YouTube which document the inception of the book as well as the making of the children's Music CD. It is very moving to see the children singing and fully understanding what they are saying. The book has helped even many of the artist's that have been involved with the project.
I like the concept because it takes a somewhat taboo subject and puts it forth in a positive way without any darkness. We are currently working on getting the book made available to Pediatrician's offices around the nation.
Pre-schools and Grade-schools have "safety days" where subjects of traffic laws, stranger danger, etc are talked about....This book provides another excellent way to approach a subject that not only will benefit the child....it is going to keep predators at bay when children everywhere are reciting the words "U TOUCH I TELL"
good day folks...for some time now, i've been trying to be deleted as an ms as this will even make my fade much easier...the body of elders in my "home" congregation, where i was "appointed" is asking for a letter stating that i won't be able to live to up to the responsibilties of being an ms and would therefore like to be removed...i'm not the best at writing and asking for some help w/o making it seem that i'm stepping down for "apostate" reasons.... .
i can't wait to send this letter to them on sunday and then perhaps next week the announcement is made!.

Simply tell them you need a break.
If they continue to load you up with responsibilities, do not show up for those responsibilities.
They will have no choice but to cover you and they will most likely wait until the CO comes to discuss it then.
Anything you put into writing will be used against you.
Missing meetings and failing to complete assignments is not a disfellowshipping matter if that is what you are trying to avoid.
Play the game. Win.
