thought i would start a discussion, and hopefully a positive one, on what successes you’ve enjoyed since leaving the org.. each of us is different as people, in life experiences etc.
however we all share one common factor in that we have all experienced the negativity, to a greater or lesser degree, of being a jw and the org.. each success is worth celebrating so i invite you to share some of your achievements.
it does not matter how ‘big or small’ it is, share it with us.. my achievement means a great deal to me both personally and professionally.
Dumped abuser and his ridiculous religion, then: Went to college, learned to think critically and logically, found actual decent man and fell in love, married, had beautiful son together, got multiple professional certifications, had a nice career, purchased beautiful home and nice cars, BUT most importantly of all, got my children by my first mistake (marriage) out of that destructive, piece of crap, life destroying, family destroying religion.
Life has been good since.
i called a guy i haven talked with for over two years yesterday.
i met him at bethel back in the 1970's.

It happens. One of the saddest times I remember on here was when we 'lost' a member I really valued. :'( His kiddos were withholding his grand children from him for leaving. So, he went back. It had nothing to do with believing, he just wanted his family more than he valued his freedom. It does happen but it's rarely ever for believing in the vomit the org spews; it's for family, friends or a sense of belonging.
popping in to say hi.... been away from the forum for a long time.... had some serious health issues starting at the beginning of this year.
on the mend now, and getting back into the swing of things.... great to be alive!.

i always found it interesting that one could appeal a disfellowshipping....if jehovah doesn't make mistakes, then there wouldnt be a need to "appeal" anything to begin with right?.
don't bother... it won't help... in fact it would make them see a 'spirit of unrepentence' and work against you. pfffttt... seriously, there is so much life outside of that narrow-minded little cult of neanderthals. walk away with your head held high and live your life. there is so much joy to be had once the veil is lifted and the chains are shattered. :)
i have just returned from visiting friends and family.
when i was disassociated my parents had contact with me a few months before my dad was diagnosed with cancer.
i was reinstated 20 months after his funeral and then they disfellowshipped me 5 months later as they are convinced i had not changed my life enough to be a jw again.
I have come to the conclusion that people who treat you like this are mentally ill. It may not be a condition from birth, but the mind has become corrupted and enflamed by a dark belief system. My advice, us this as an opportunity to teach your son exactly why you left and why he should stay away. Don't go back... not even for a funeral... why should you? They don't give a shit about you of your kiddo... live your life and don't look back.
all religions under critical examination has been recognized inherently as formative lies devised to appeal to human emotions and as a means to cultivate power and control for a select propagating few.
knowledge acquired through scientific inquiry and evaluation has proven that all religious adherence was mostly drawn out human ignorance targeted toward the emotions and consciousness of people.
here we are in the 21 century and people like the jws are still adhering to the lies of christianity and how this religion developed over time.

Because self-aware entities do not want to die and cannot, for many, come to grips with it. It 'feels right' to believe in the supernatural because death feels so unnatural. Basically, we think too highly of ourselves.
jehovah's witnesses have never come to my door but they have come to my girlfriends door.
i have coached her as to what to say or ask but it appears that they always seem to come when she's not there.
.....just curious would you get into it with a jehovah's witness at your door especially if it was someone you did not know?.

while reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.
because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".
i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.
One could go quite mad trying to assign a specific purpose to life when we don't even yet know what life is in all it's forms or precisely how it 'got here'.

Perhaps just a bit off-topic, but has the org begun asking those who saved original magazines in those binder thingy's to dispose of them? It might be nice to get your hands on some since they 'tweaked' the 'reprinted' mags in the bound volumes... your wife may find the differences between what they say they said and what they actually said interesting...
yes my holy anionted mom who has cancer is concerned that the loving god jehovah may ask her in heaven to destroy here non believer family including her 5 year old grandchild during armagedon....how messed up are these crazy people!!?

This is the kind of crap that made me write my 'family' off for good. when my son was born my own mother said she didn't want a relationship with him because he was going to be killed by her evil god and she didn't want that to come between her and her 'faith'.
That was 18 years ago. I was so disgusted that the only time I talked to her after that was this past year for a few minutes when she called to tell me my father had died. :/
These people truly are sick... their minds polluted and their hearts twisted by an evil doctrine.
