Mid week meetings were the first ones I stopped attending. I hated that I was missing all of the good television shows.

by ProfCNJ inhi folks.
the usual feeling for me - when i missed mid-week meetings - is to feel guilty, sad or depressed.
it normally involved negative feelings.

Do Witnesses still go door-to-door??
by MsShockJock injust wondering if they still go door-to-door?
i never see groups of people walking around the neighborhoods all dressed up or out in fastfood restaurants on saturday mornings or groups of people driving around in cars.

Yes they do! Well at least in my neck of the woods they do. The doughnut and coffee shops are frequented before and after field service.

Service Meeting Adjustment w/c 1st September
by konceptual99 inprobably nothing of major note but there is an adjustment to the service meeting of w/c 1st september to allow for a 15 min local needs the society have asked the elders to deliver.
this is in uk and i've no idea if it affects other regions.. if it's uk only then i suspect it's either specifically about donations or more likely the status of the new branch facility, asking for volunteers/money.
given that the elder delivering it in our hall is prominent on the local rbc then i suspect the latter.. .

I hear that Jehovah's Armageddon supplier will be boosting prices on those hailstones.

I now have a law degree!
by digderidoo inhi guys, i don't really post on here much anymore, having been on here since 2001. this site helped me out in the early days and has been a great support system for all of my past jw issues.
like many others i was discouraged from an education so that i could window clean and pioneer in my youth during the 80's.
having spent many years post my jw exit in alcoholism and periods of drugs, i decided to clean myself up 7 years ago by attending aa, i was still a window cleaner ... at the time i wrote extensively on here about my issues.

What would you do if JW's lifted the shunning policy?
by bsand20 inhave you guys asked yourself that question?
what if the gb decided that "new light" revealed to them that disfellowshipping was wrong and they would do away with it for current dfd members as well...... .......16 years of my life.
would i welcome my family back?

They allowed someone to control their free will! Therefore, they must be held responsible for their actions, by voluntarily shunning family and friends. I would be respectful, but reserved with my dealings with such people.
As mentioned jws already shun inactive ones, so they will most likely do it to former members under the guise of conscience. With the biblical admonition about bad association.

What did you do with old WT/Awake magazines?
by naazira inwhen you were a witness, what did you do with your old watchtower (public/ study versions) and awake magazines?
i know for some throwing away a magazine is comparable to burning a quran.
i never threw them out!

Hahaha @stealth I thought only Ouija boards screamed when being burned. That's so true- if you are gone more than 5 minutes. I was gone once for 5 months and came back to a lot of new teachings. I guess that's what happens when one doesn't keep pace with Jehovah's organization lol Gotta keep up with this darn chariot.

inactive ones going back...
by monis1 ini have quite a big group of friends who were all in the cong together when we were teens.
about 75% of them stopped going or were df'd right after high school.
it is a varied group; a couple are staunch apostates, some dont care one way or another, and another handfull are fully "worldly", but still believe it is the truth.

I attempted to go back during the memorial and special talk. Everyone was asking me was I back for good. I said of course I am! I stayed in for 3 weeks, before I realized what I was missing. I enjoyed sleeping in during meeting days.

I Never threw them out! In fact, I still have a large stack, because I like to look at the pictures and draw over them.

If the Governing Body Told You They Love You All Very Much, What Would Your Reply Be?
by steve2 inin a letter in the 2013 yearbook of jehovah's witnesses, the governing body sign off with the words, "we love you all very much".
these words were later echoed by one of the governing body in an address to french jehovah's witnesses in july this year.
these words sound so marvellously compelling and heartfelt - goosebump inducing, even.. imagine the governing body wrote these words to you or expressed them to you in person- yes to you reading these very words.

Thank you, I love ME too.
