i was having a discussion elsewhere on the internet about why people believe and why people don't believe in god.. i am of the opinion that people believe in god, not for evidential reasons, but instead because they have some emotional feeling that god exists.
no amount of logic will make someone like this stop believing (any more than trying to talk someone out of being in love).
the same goes for athiests.
Why was I Christian? because my mother was. She was Baptist before JW. I'm a born-in. Once I started seeing the world outside of JWism, I explored other Christian sects. None made sense. I am agnostic Deist and no longer Christian - I believe in God/dess but I admit that I cannot prove to an atheist that She exists.
I agree with a PP that said many of us were/are Christian because of where we were born. If I was of Asian descent, I would most likely be Buddhist from birth.

Here are my explanations:
1. Jesus was an alien. Just think - today it is possible to become pregnant and be a virgin.
2. Virgin back then meant an unattached female, not necessarily one who never had sex.
3. Virgin also meant a woman who hasn't had sex in 7 years. There's some scripture in Leviticus or something.
4. The entire story is bogus.
we all know the wts position on same-sex marriage, but i thought it was interesting to see this piece on its website.
i think what intrigues me the most is that the wts approach is, as i once told the elders on my judicial committee, "inadequate, incomplete and insufficient".
the peice then goes on to give the typical fairy-tale solution to what it perceives as a problem with the experience of someone they call "nathan" and how he was able to completely change thanks to god's holy spirit working on him.
like Broken Promises, I have revised my views on homosexuality. Congrats AK and don't leave out us Allies!

- yes, i'm that hopeless) that explain what is the 'hot topic' week to week and month to month.. i'm interested in knowing what agenda is being pushed at a particular time, especially in regards to conventions and that sort of thing.
i find the witnesses that i have to associate tend to be more or less opinionated on certain things depending on what the wt is telling them to think at any one time.. if i am able to understand what they are being told, i think it will help me to avoid getting involved in certain conversations and therefore 'keep the peace'.. does such a site exist?

her name is samus and she is a poodle mix about 4 yrs old.
she has to be walked at least 2x a day.
Once I figure out what food she likes I can get her treats. She appears to be housebroken. Only one accident in the house.
