This is same reason why JWs don't vote or contribute to any charities. It makes for a very selfish organization. Sure, there are reports of JWs helping a "worldly" neighbor during a disaster but that's only because it's convenient.

Today's watchtower study... Ugh.
by OneDayillBeFree inwatchtower studies like today's really make me feel anger for this cult.
i mean almost all of them do but this one is one of those articles that takes things too far.. i mean they are condemning the people who are trying to help/save the earth because it's "satan's" world and instead are saying that religious salesmen with magazines are doing way more than the others!like are you f**king kidding me?another reason why i hated this study article is for what some of the young ones did in response to the study.
as one was unwrapping a piece of candy, he decided to throw the wrapper on the ground.

Notes from "Safeguard Your Conscience" Special Assembly Day
by WinstonSmith inrecently we had the 'privilege' of attending our local special assembly day.
the theme for this year was safeguard your conscience, and you guessed it, they looked up every reference to the word 'conscience' in the bible and then wrote a talk about each one.
it was most definitely a case of "pack your bags, we're going on a guilt trip.".
-
QueenWitch
Sounds like a huge guilt trip.
Being late to a meeting does not equal not being respectful. Some people are just habitually late to EVERYTHING! This could be a mental issue.
I don't recall seeing in the Bible where a couple must use a KH to get married.
Blood is NOT hard to get rid off as any woman with her monthly knows. Clean it immediately. Hydrogen perioxide put on the stain helps dissolve it completely. WBTS analogy FAIL!
"We need to beg Jehovah each day to give us his holy spirit" - Why? If we need it, why do we have to beg for it? Do (good) parents make their children beg for food, clothing, shelter, and other necessities? We just give it because that is our responsibility.
Entertainment is one thing that can be hazardous to our conscience. This is because it promotes worldly things like spiritism and homosexuality as being normal. Movies show the misuse of blood, and the shedding of innocent blood. - The world thinks these things are fine, but they are not acceptable to Jehovah. Even a brief glimpse can begin the damage process on our conscience. - What? ok, let's take this bit by bit. Spiritism: Hollywood doesn't portray occult arts as they are in real life. For those of us who believe this sort of thing, we do NOT think of conjuring evil spirts as entertainment. Even when speaking with benelovent spirits, there is respect involved. Homosexuality: It's not my place to say that it's normal/abnormal. But I will say this, for a gay/lesbian/other person, their sexuality is normal to them and they are to be treated as people, not 2nd class citizens. I think it's fine for glbt? folks to be treated fairly and for that to happen, there needs to be more Hollywood portrayal of glbt? families. (I love James and Cyrus on Scandal!). Shedding of innocent blood: umm, just because Hollywood shows this doesn't mean we (the world) think that it's fine or normal. That's why it's fiction. Yes, I do think that some shows are pretty gorey (Spartacus) but again, it's fiction. Honestly, I don't think I could watch someone get killed in real life. On TV, we know that it's fake.

Whacky comments! What the craziest comment you've ever heard?
by toweragent inlast week a sister in my new hall made the following comment,.
"a brother once told me that it is better to be wrong with the organization, than to be right and be on your own without the organization.".
wow.

I can't think of any wacky comments but there was this guy who would always raise his hand but not like everyone else. Instead of using the 1st finger, he would use the middle finger LOL!!!

Women: Are they Equal to Men ?
by villagegirl inone of the hard core doctrines of the wt society, and many other religions, is that women are to be in "subjection" to men.. in the bible, in genisis , it says the domination of women by men came after adam and eve disobeyed god.
eve was cursed by pain in childbirth and that from then on as a curse: "he shall rule over you " from then on the male was to dominate the female.. but that was not in the original plan.
this was a reversal of the plan and a curse.

Are women and men equal? Are apples and oranges equal?
If you use the bible to get your answer than yeah, women are 2nd class citizens. Oh, there are limited examples of women in "power" but the overall theme of the bible is for women to be submissive to men. History has shown that pre-bible there were Goddess religions and tribes that held the importance of both men and women. I wonder why the bible changed all that?
If in the US, govt is supposed to represent the people, why is it mostly men when clearly there are more women in the population?

@Scary21 exactly!
A birthday is just an anniversary of one's day of birth. Wedding anniversary celebrations are allowed though.

What happens when a legally married....?
by sosoconfused inlesbian couple that has a child decides that they want to be one of jehovahs witnesses?
really think about this for a second.. what will they do then.. option 1: will they tell them that they have to get a divorce and ignore the scriptural counsel of jehovah hating a divorcing?
will they say that it was never valid anyway in the eyes of jehovah?
-
QueenWitch
I would suggest that the lesbian couple either forego Christianity altogether or look for a much more liberal sect. They shouldn't have to break up their family to serve god.

The Super Bowl - 9er Fans get over it....you got BEAT!
by dreamgolfer inyup, that is what i saw, the "kid" ck for the 9ers could not get the ball in the endzone via a throw, so that is it over and out.
if crabtree was a star he would have knew how to break free and catch the ball regardless if a harmless raven was on him, (sir mike was pushing off, too btw).
the game is over!
