It doesn't seem like there's any way to validate this article. I tried googling her name but nothing came up. She has a very common name, too. Maybe parts of it are true. Maybe parts of it are embellished. Who knows?

by RayPublisher inthe watchtower has chided its members repeatedly for many years about not reading anything it deems unsuitable, especially when it is composed by former members.. interestingly, the new march 2013 awake magazine pages 10-11 has an article about a woman that studied and then converted from judaism to jehovah's witnesses.
there are three key points in the article that actually encourage those with discernment to go against the watchtower ban on books written by those with dissenting views.

The Mormon religion does appear to be much less emotionally traumatic than JW, especially for children. If I had to choose one of the 2 religions when I was a kid, I would definitely choose Mormon. They're allowed to celebrate birthdays, holidays, can salute the flag, national anthem, plus a whole lot of other stuff.

Is a slow fade being selfish when you have kids?
by dissonance_resolved inso i got some great advice to take things very slowly with the husband and kids in order to be able to fade and still maintain contact with my parents and siblings.
but today i got a call from my son's teacher that he was having a meltdown because he was worried about all his friends and teachers being destroyed at armageddon.... first i felt like such a schmuck for ever having allowed that thought to enter my son's head, then i thought, is it psychological torture for me not to immediately correct the situation?
i had a long talk with him about how god is perfectly just and full of love and he didn't have to worry about that at all, but it still seemed lukewarm.

Me personally, I'm not in any kind of situation like that. I was never baptized, I escaped the madness at age 19, and my husband was never a JW, he grew up Catholic. I love my husband but if I had to choose between my husband and my kids, I'm choosing my kids all the way.

hearing the propaganda over and over again is pretty powerful i'm sure.
(i'm a non-jw, non-christian (no offense), stubborn as a bull and even i had moments of pause based on some of the doctrine (lasted 30 seconds) but i never had family/friends at stake or a background in this.

by awakening inthis is the question that came up in my mind.
now dont get me wrong i know the dates from 607 - 1914 are rubbish, but how would you explain to a witness when they will automatically say, look at the momentus year 1914 was.
