I'm not so sure JW's "LIKE" it, I think it's more that they're conditioned to automatically turn it into a Witnessing Moment.

I like tofu, and I like chinese cabbage (though regular cabbage will do). This is what I like to do:
Shred the cabbage and stir-fry it in Sesame oil. Once it becomes soft, add your cubed extra-firm tofu, a sprinkling of toasted sesame seeds, and a few dashes of soy sauce. Continue to gently stir-fry until the cabbage is limp and the tofu has picked up the soy sauce color. Serve over seasoned rice.
For grilling:
Slice extra-firm tofu into 3/4 inch slices. Marinate for two hours in a combination of soy sauce, garlic powder, brown sugar, and ground ginger, flipping it over ever 20 minutes or so (sorry, I don't have measurements, I do it by sight). Light the grill and let the flames die down. Once the coals are at a steady glow (without flame flare-ups) lay down a sheet of aluminum foil and place the marinated slices on the foil. Close the lid. Flip the slices with a spatula every ten minutes until done (browned, not burned).

The book is out of print now, that's why the copies are so pricey. I managed to get a copy a couple of years ago before it went out of print, and I highly recommend getting your hands on a copy if at all possible. I couldn't put it down!

Could the JWs sway you back...?
by new22day inop based on mr. freeze's topic - could attending the meetings/studying again sway any of you back to the org.
hearing the propaganda over and over again is pretty powerful i'm sure.
(i'm a non-jw, non-christian (no offense), stubborn as a bull and even i had moments of pause based on some of the doctrine (lasted 30 seconds) but i never had family/friends at stake or a background in this.

Well, they'd have to drop the Governing Body crap, the making of all the books and mags crap, begin using a reputable Bible version, and overhaul all of their teachings.
Maybe then I just might wander back into a Kingdom Hall.

Who of you ever lied on your field service reports?
by Julia Orwell ini've read a few people mention making up the figures for the field service reports, and i want to find out how common it is.
i never lied on my report.
sometimes i'd round up 15 minutes if i'd mentioned jw stuff to my brother that month, but that wasn't falsifying.

JWOP
Near the end I simply quit filing my monthly reports. The elders kept trying to goad me into it, and I kept explaining that the counting of hours cannot be supported in Scripture, and that it's plenty enough that God is the one who knows my hours. I don't know if they filled in fake hours for me or not.

Why Did You Get Baptised
by God_Delusion inhi guys,.
so then, why did you get dunked?
were you pressured into it too, or did you do it because you honestly thought it was the right thing to do?.
-
JWOP
I was a born-in, the eighth of nine kids, and 17 years old. A district convention was in the near future, and the pressure was on: "Are you getting baptized at the convention?" "Why aren't you baptized yet?" "Your brother was baptized when he was 12, what's taking you so long?" I was getting it from elders' wives, friends' mothers, and my own mom started it too.
What they DIDN'T know was that I had a secret worldly boyfriend who I was sexually active with, and I wasn't willing to give him up. I also didn't understand the convulted explanations of prophecies -- even though I knew the expected answers to the questions. (Just because you know e=mc2 doesn't mean you know WHY "e" equals mc squared!). But, since I did still believe in the JW doctrine at the time, and I was tired of fielding the incessant questions, I did it just to shut everyone up.
