Those who WERE or ARE Elders (Re: Molestation Coverup)
by dontplaceliterature ini'd like to hear from those who are currently elders or were formerly elders on your honest feelings about the charges brought against the society and their general policy in handling these matters.
do you think that the society handles child abuse accusations fairly?
or, do you think their policy is abusive?

The Lawsuit: What Is The Aftermath?
by metatron ini have been reading all these wonderful posts about this huge victory for justice against the sick, evil old men of the watchtower with immense delight!.
that said, i think it well that we should consider what the longer term effects of their defeat will be.. i continue to think that they will be under enormous pressure to discreetly end the circuit overseer arrangement somehow.
there have been many rumors about this but the watchtower is stuck with a real dilemma.

Remember the Panorama programme a few years ago? Many avoided watching it and those that did put down to apostates.
I remember it well yet I never saw it.
Clearly remember the brother reading the letter from Bethel telling us that we should not watch the program.
The first time I saw it was just a few weeks ago thanks to YouTube.
They will try to keep this case hidden from as many members as possible, at least to start with.

UK convention dramas recorded by American actors - the GB's yearly gaffe
by cedars ini'm just curious as to whether any of my fellow brits ever pondered how the society can be so stupid as to insist using the us drama tapes at uk conventions rather than having them re-recorded in a british accent?.
as all of us brits know, the convention drama is a subject of subdued derision among uk publishers - and i've been to many a party or social gathering where, at some point, somebody whose had a little too much coke re-enacts a scene from a drama mockingly (typically by gesturing wildly into the air and saying "jer-ho-vah gaaard!!
" in an over-the-top american accent).. what the society clearly doesn't understand is that the dramas really lose their emotional impact with british audiences when performed in an american accent by amateurs.

They can also translate the magazines and books into many, many languages, but fail to put the 'u' in colour or replace 'sidewalk' with 'pavement' for the British editions.
In the 70s and 80s I remember householders quite often saying they wouldn't join an American religion! You don't hear that these days.

Of course "the Society have never lost a court case" on this topic (until very recently).
Because in past cases, they usually settled out of court.

@notjustyet, no one mentioned Leo Greenlees to me.
Then again, they probably had never heard of him. Most witnesses have no idea of the names of the GB/leaders other than Russell, Rutherford, Fred Franz and Knorr!

What Are You Looking For, Something That Makes Sense Of Kingdom Hall Conduct?
by Bubblegum Apotheosis ini know it's hard to challenge your beliefs you have held onto so long, what else is out there in this world, that makes sense?
once upon a time, we had a edge over the world, we had "game" but this is fading.
think about the talks you heard at the "one day, two-day or summer conventions", were you upbuilt and told how valuable you are?

I had a friend who went to the rehersals for an assembly. He said what he intended to say at the district convention for an interview. The overseer (would it be a DO?) stopped him and wrote down word for word what he had to say. It wasn't true and it wasn't his words but he had to say it or be in trouble!

They think: "How come everyone knows who Charles Taze Russell, Judge Rutherford and Fred Franz are, but no-one had a clue who we are? I know, let's introduce a Harry Potter knock off - welcome, SPARLOCK!"

You wouldn't need legions of people to track IP addresses, just an IP database and a good programmer. Google and FaceBook track locations of their visitors. In fact, your location is being tracked by Google on this website - it uses Google Analytics.
The locations are not always 100% accurate. There is a reason for this - some IP blocks are allocated to large areas, rather than small. Brooklyn NY has lots of IP addresses and if you have one of them, you are 99.9% likely to be in Brooklyn. Some IP blocks are simply allocated to the State of New York. That is a large area and many websites try to guess where you are. Double07, your internet provider probably has several blocks of IP addresses they can assign you and might give you a more general IP address on occassion, sometimes to share the load. Websites may try to guess your location more accurately but they cannot be guaranteed to be right. Some do it off the longtitude and latitude which can be anywhere in the State! There is one IP block that is allocated the the area of the 'EU' - not much help!
I just see the Society working out how many views compared to the number of publishers in the area. For example, if North Carolina has a 42% download rate, Texas 44%, Detroit 41% but Chicago is only 6%, then surely they will inform the COs serving the Chicago areas?
Digital downloads are same as printed versions, so even if they edit the future edition...
I understand that there will be articles on the site that will not be put in print. You have got me thinking on that one though, they will have to print the study edition and I suppose that one will have the most important information in it.

Oh, I thought both the WatchTower and Awake were going to 16 pages for the public editions with the study edition of the WatchTower remaining at 32 pages?
