So tempted to post a reference to that WT article that says the origin of the practice doesn't matter, what matters is how people view the practice today.
RESIST WINSTON! RESIST!
we had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.
fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.
i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

Ugh, I know they think they are doing God's work and all, but sheesh, they can't give it a rest for one day can they? A young bro in our congregation, baptised for just over a year just posted on Facebook a copy and paste from an encyclopedia about the pagan roots of Christmas. Followed with a "why would you want anything to do with that?"
The first comment is from someone who I'm guessing is a non-witness friend replied with a "Yeah but its just a fun day to get together with family" to which bro says "Yes, a day based on paganism."
Behold, the insensitive reasoning of JWs. Can't leave things alone for one day. Gotta stir the pot!
just found this on a post from a fb jw friend of mine:.
experiences following the connecticut shooting:.
from a local witness:.
Sherilynn: Doing it out of love, plus marking down time and placements.
Sad, but true.
If someone turned up on my doorstep after a disaster, or an event like Sandy Hook and offered me a leaflet pushing a religous point of view, I would be offended at them capitalising on the situation to peddle their crap.
Totally different story if they turned up empty handed and just said "Hey, we are just checking in to make sure you're handling things. Need someone to talk to? Vent? Get something off your chest? We're here mate."
JWs are so out of touch with reality that they A: can't go out and be nice to people unless given instructions to, and B: can't talk to people unless they have a piece of WT literature in between them as a barrier.
having just finished reading the gtr (4th edition), i've compiled my notes and observations and am composing a comprehensive review/analysis of many sections.
so my question: would anyone be interested in reading and/or participating in a discussion about a number of jonnson's viewpoint?
be assured, it will be of substantial merit and not the typical superficial and remiss arguments you perhaps expect from someone who is a jw.. .
If you think people are trolling you, just don't reply to them. Instead of responding, carry on with the thread topic. At this rate you'll be needing to email the mods again to increase your post limit.
Third time: I haven't read the book, so, per your opening post, please fill in us in on your notes and observations.

Hey Recovery/StillRecovery/OlinMoyle/Ethos/FaceTheFacts,
Within a few posts you have revealed yourself. The name changes, but the modus operandi remains constant.
Let's get the thread back on topic. History tells us that your previous incarnations have difficulty with that. As I said earlier, I haven't read the book, so please enlighten us with your 'notes, observations, and comprehensive review' of The Gentile Times Reconsidered. We are already on page two of the thread and I see nary a mention of the subject of your opening post.

WMF I tend to agree. As I mentioned in FTFs intro thread, my radar is activated. The syntax and modus operandi have my spidey senses tingling.
He'll no doubt swing in with ad hominem 'I start a thread and all you do is attack me' presently.
FTF I haven't read the book, have been trying to obtain a copy. Please enlighten us with your thoughts and comments. I'd love to learn more.
not really good at introductions.
i am an active jw who has my doubts about certain things like the bible as a whole but im slowly but surely wading through them.
just of curiousity: what on earth has happened to this board?
Welcome FaceTheFacts,
There are lots of different people from many and varied backgrounds on here. All contribute in some way to the ongoing success of this forum.
Before starting a bunch of threads that you will struggle to keep up with (I see you have started 4 already), why don't you tell us a bit about yourself? We'd love to get to know you.
Recovery/StillRecovery/OlinMoyle/Ethos radar mode activated.
I have PostSecret in my rss feeds, and saw that in amongst yesterday's Sunday Secrets. It made my skin crawl.
I've often thought about setting up a site called JW Secrets where JWs could anonymously post their feelings in a similar format. It's on the to-do list....

Hello SkyGreen and Ziddina!
Thanks so much for taking the time to read through and make a post. Please keep in contact and feel free to engage anytime! My goal in starting my diary was to share life from 'the inside' and what it is like on the way out. I hope that in some small way it might help others.
You are right SkyGreen, going to the elders is a two edged sword. People who do so are likely to get smashed, but as a result it might be the jolt they need to wake up.
Hang in there team, we're all in this together :-)
By the way, after months of searching a million second hand bookstores, we finally found a copy of In Search of Christian Freedom. SCORE! Even better, it was a Salvation Army shop.....
Once I finish The Kingdom that Never Came, I'll rip into ISOCF. Some good holiday beach reading there baby!
hi guys,.
i was asked to give final prayer today after the field service meeting.
i asked for jah to bless and comfort the families of the newtown, ct massacre.
The brother giving the closing prayers at our Sunday meeting on the weekend asked for Jehovah to look after 'our brothers in Fiji and Samoa who have been affected by the recent cyclones' My first thought was 'What about all the other people on the islands?'
I have heard other people say in response to disasters where lots of people have died 'Well at least they'll get a resurrection now. Its probably better that way as they would have been destroyed at Armageddon.'
Ah, the Christian spirit of love and compassion. Its alive and well, and nowhere near a Kingdom Hall.
