  No, it hasn't occurred to me, because such a suggestion is totally NONSENSE. I realize that in the little world you exist in, the only relgion that has to deal with criticism is JWs; one day you may learn that is COMPLETELY UNTRUE.
  
  My proof: take a look in any LARGE bookstore (Borders, Chapters, etc.) or large reference library and ask to be directed to the "Religion -- Criticism" section. Be prepared to be overwhelmed with books critical of every possible religion..
  
  Afraid to go to a wordly library? Then try this. The Watch Tower Society calls Catholicism "a whore" and "prostitute" and a "FALSE RELIGION". HELP HELP! THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS BEING PERSECUTED!!! THAT PROVES THE CATHOLICS MUST BE THE TRUE RELIGION.

  hello fellow geeks,.

  i have a question regarding visibility of devices inside a network behind a router running network address translation.

  i have a router providing internet access to several machines / devices on a private (192.168) network in my house.

  SNG, you are correct. The devices inside your NAT are not visible to the outside world.
  
  Assuming the NIC in the router is not promiscuous, the internal traffic between the NAS and your other systems should be ignored. But, I speculate, if the NAS device tried to initiate contact with/through the router (Windows NetHood browsing?) then this is potentially a problem. I'll assume that this would never happen, and if it did, the NAT/Router would probably just dump the packets; but better safe than sorry. I concur with the suggestion to use Windows security anyway.

  Breaking News: Berry girls lose high court appeal

  with those two short, sweet, words of the nh supreme court, the berry girls 4-year fight to hold the wts responsible has come to an abrupt and bitter end.. a preliminary scan of the opinion indicates a virtual slam-dunk victory for the wts, although there was one dissenting justice out of the four on one issue only, the only female justice of the four.

  Interesting. The court recognizes that churches are not required to dispense common sense advice. They can dispense dangerous advice (as the dissenting judgement noted) and that's OK. I'll remember to point this out to the next JW that comes knocking at my door to give me solutions to the problems which "Young People Ask..."

  i have been thinking about this because of another post where the question asks have any of us ever been blackmailed to stay in the watchtower organization.. no, i won't say i was blackmailed; however, after i wrote my note of disassociation, the congregation overseer wanted to visit me in my home with two other elders.

  i repeatedly said no, that i would not allow them to chastise me in my own home.

  therefore, all of my conversations were over the phone with the overseer.

  Just analysing and extending the judges "logic":
  
  A full time Plumber/janitor/bricklayer who happens to be a part time elder (i.e. "Parrot of Watchtower literature") qualifies as an "ordained minister".
  
  Okay...... I suppose that means:
  
  When I refinished my bathroom, I had to do quite a bit of changes to the electrical circuits. I guess that judge would now call me a Certified Journeyman Electrician and say I can enjoy all the rights and privleges of same.
  
  Oh, and of course there were lots of changes to the plumbing, which I also did myself. I guess (according to this judge) I am now a Certified, Journeyman Plumber and am afforded the rights and protections of the law w.r.t. Plumbers.
  
  Hey, I also have changed my own oil in my car, and changed the spark plugs. COOL! I guess that judge would call me a Certified Automotive Mechanic. Watch out guys, I'm now protected by the provisions of the "Mechanics Lien Act for Ontario" which means I can hang onto your car if you don't pay me!
  
  Oh, and I used to do major work on my motorcycle, so I guess I'm also a Certified Motorcycle Mechanic- Advanced.
  
  Don't let my critics, who point out my complete lack of formal training in those fields, total lack of *depth* of knowledge, and success only with the most trivial and basic tasks (some of which I totally botched up and had to redo many times before I got it right) confuse you into thinking I'm not qualified, either. 'Cause I am. The judge said so. If I play dress-up and claim a certain status, then that is all that is necessary.

  P.S. It's too bad that "ordained ministers" aren't regulated the way that engineers are. In most states/provinces, if you call yourself an "engineer" and you don't have professional certification, you can be fined and even serve jail time. This is to protect the public's safety from the danger of under qualified, and/or un-qualified engineer wanna-be's.

  don't you think the witness leaders would have given up the blood doctrine and 1914 by now had not apostates made such big things of them?

  haven't they been painted into a bit of a corner where, if they tried to adjust things on blood now, everyone would come down on them like a ton of bricks?

  if apostates were not so vigilant in watching the witnesses' every move, perhaps the governing body would have tried to drop the dubious doctrines by the back door, like so many others that they have discarded when they did not feel to closely watched (organ transplants, for example).
