remember all the counsel to sing out the songs?
that's great except so many of us couldn't sing our way out of a paper bag.
i remember visiting a congregation in colo. & a sister was really following the counsel, top of her lungs.
when we were on our way out the song that I literally broke out laughing on was
A spectacle we've come to be that all men may know.
how true!
mrs ozzie and i are enjoying a week in the blue mountains at a convention (no, not a district convention!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
) but we didn't want to miss out on our customary poll, so we're sending this from a very welcoming cafe in scenic katoomba.
check it out on the web.
good day to you mr and mrs. Ozzie
at first I thought #1
now it's a strong #2, just bragging, making themselves look good.
which is closely related to #7 showing off.
#10 why is that they don't help out every day? that brings me to #12 I hated it that they didn't support charities with nothing more than a piece of paper.
i have been looking for a place like this.
seems pretty cool.
i am about 1.5 years inactive and have no plans to go back.
hello and welcome Auntiem!
are you from Kansas?
in another thread heathen gave me a great idea.... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=43769&site=3.
i'm always hearing apostates propose the idea of partaking of the emblems or passing out apostate literature at the memorial... but heathen has given me an even better idea.... a mass walk-out.
well, at least five people or so .
very interesting Elsewhere!
if your going to do it, you may only be able to do it once, so make it good!
was it family, friends, the belief that this all was really true?
ditto to the first poster reubenfine.
happy new year all..... i hope your new year had a better start then mine did.. my partner and i stayed up to 2am new years day to welcome in the new year in a way neither of us could before.. we were really looking forward to our sleep in when we were rudely awoken by my visiting father at 6am to say that we better get downstairs quick smart!!.
we walk down the stairs to see nearly a foot of water through the bottom of our house!!!!!!!!!!.
our hot water system decided to pack it in and break its seals thus water through the house.
thats what you call a rude awakening. sorry to hear that.
I just spent the day straightening up the luggage, snow boots, and snow pants from our recent trip to northern minnesota, my husband and went for a walk in the afternoon, we live on a golf course and part of it has an open soy bean and corn field next to it. there was garbage blown all over from mondays windy garbage day of everyones christmas paper and other stuff. there just happened to be bags caught on the stubble so we cleaned up the field. On our way back we noticed another guy out there doing the same thing. I asked him what brought him out to do that. he said it was us. he had wanted to do it for some time, and just needed a motivation. It made our day to see someone else helping keep the neighborhood clean and it made his day to see someone else care.
edited to mention that we also picked up 29 golf balls to add to our collection, now totaling 1,130 for the two years we've lived out here.

in every congregation there is always a brother who gives a marathon prayer.
in my congregation there was a brother whose prayers were so long that i decided to time his prayer with my watch.
it lasted about 3-4 minutes.
some guys just like to hear their voice, we also had a few who even after being counciled rattled on.
so to make light of it and keep our youngest one occupied we gave him the privilage of timing the brother. his longest was 4 1/2 min. I would also be looking up to see what everyone else was doing, some were swaying because their eyes are closed , the older ones could no longer stand so they would be dropping like flies and babies are the best indicator of a prayer being to long.
I always wanted to ask the wives if they had cold suppers.

.
are elders more spiritual or just better qualified to teach?
does the watchtower choose their leaders for their spirituality or their leadership?
then there is always a little nepatizuim involved.
what did you do with all those bound volumes, song books, bibles, study books and such?
mine are all packed away in the shed.
we still have a lot of them in boxes, I don't know if i'll ever need them other than to look up info. to use against them. our sons in the middle schools have used the pictures from the Awakes for projects. I reckon in a few years most will be thrown out or burned.
