It's been extremely cold here this winter. This morning at 6:30 the thermometer read 45 degrees. I don't know if it will make it to 70 today. Tomorrow I am supposed to play golf. I sure hope it warms up.

Governing Buzzards - Part 3 - Does the WTS lie about being Exonerated?
by Amazing inand likely rutherford and other top society officer must have known about this event ?
government motion in judges chambers:
this was fascinating, because while the society was allowed many motions, the government only made one motion ?

Jim,
I'm confused by your timeline. Congress did not declare war on Germany until April 1917. Remember President Wilson was re-elected in November 1916 on the platform of "He kept us out of war." The event which triggered the declaration was the resumption of unrestricted submarine warfare by Germany. This happened in February of 1917.
Were the Watchtower leaders under investigation in 1916 prior to the war declaration?

I had the same experience when I attended a different church. The singing and arms in the air kind of put me off at first. In thinking about it I realized that my JW training had taught me that any expression of emotion was wrong. The JW religion stresses "knowledge" and "rationality" (even if the beliefs are ridiculous they are still reached in some sort of "logical" order). During last conversation I had with my mother when we discussed her decision to shun me, I asked what it was about the JW religion that appealed to her. She said it was the "accurate knowledge" and the "truth" of doctrine. Right then and there I realized that we were on different wavelengths. To her Christianity was about doctrines and to me Christianity was about how you treat other people. I now believe that there is nothing wrong with the display of emotion in religion.

So Just What Did Happen In 1975?
by Englishman in4026 bc adam created.. add 6000years.

Englishman,
Not being an American you probably don't appreciate how close we came to having Armageddon in 1975. The scriptures clearly show that Armageddon cannot come until the Boston Red Sox win another World Series. As you probably remember the last time the Red Sox won the Series was in 1918. Is it just a coincidence that this was the year that Satan was cast down to the earth from heaven and Jehovah designated the Watchtower Society as his "faithful and discreet slave?" I think not!
Remember that the 1975 World Series was the closest the Red Sox had come to winning since 1918. Who can forget Carlton Fisk's winning home run in extra innings in game six? Of course serious Bible students took note and eagerly awaited the fulfillment of the sign with a Red Sox victory in game seven. However "in order that some flesh might be saved" the Cincinnati Reds won the 1975 series in game seven. This loving provision has allowed many more to come to a knowledge of the "truth" not to mention many more books and magazines to be printed and sold along with great appreciation of Brooklyn real estate values.
Serious Bible students have watched with excitement the off-season moves of Boston general manager Theo Epstein. The addition of pitchers Curt Schilling and Keith Foulke have led many of these Bible students to believe that this could be the Sox big year. The question on the minds of all lovers of truth is, "Will the Sox get A-Rod from the Rangers in return for Man-Ram?" These are exciting times for God's people! But you may ask does this mean that Boston will win the 2004 World Series? Maybe. God's organization is not saying and neither should you!

What is the WT's position on important topics like GOLF?
by onintwo inha!
just wondering if there is anything the wbts could possibly say against this wonderful game.
probably the only knock would be that it's so addictive and it would take up all of your time.

Blondie,
The avatar of course is John Maynard Keynes.
May 17, 1985 is the day I earned my bachelor's degree in Economics. Having been raised a dub and going straight into the pioneer work after high school (As my father the elder told me, "You'll always be welcome in my house as long as you are a pioneer.") I took great pride in this accomplishment.
