He even gave me a couple of tips on my golf swing.
I didn't know he played! What's his handicap? Can we put together a foursome?
last night i awoke from a restless sleep.
it was probably around three in the morning.
i heard the patio furniture moving around and thought we might be having some wind gusts.
He even gave me a couple of tips on my golf swing.

just got this e mail describing special meeting from pro-jw stance...song 155, opening prayer brother sam hurd (governing body).
brother hurd commented on the privilege of being at this special meeting, and that the governing body wished that the provision could have been made for all publishers, but it was simply not possible.. .
summary of the watchtower brother gary cross.
There are reports around the world acknowledging that there is no one like us. We are so peaceable, policeman at our conventions don’t know what to do with themselves, because we are sheeplike, meek and humble.
Yes we Jehovah's Witnesses are humble. In fact humility is our most admirable trait!
many jws have become excited by the events of 9/11 in the u.s., thinking that this is a definite sign of the imminent end of the system.
we have seen online jws talking about how these awful events were "prophecied in the bible" and how this is proof that armageddon is near.
we have heard reports of local jws saying the same things, including many of our family members.
You make some good points Seeker but the most important one relates to "American-centric thinking." Many terrible things have happened throughout human history but this is probably the worst thing that has happened on American soil in quite some time. Most Americans knowledge of history or even current events outside America is pitiful. Therefore this tragedy is magnified and given special significance.
hi, my name is erik.
this is my first posting.
i was a witness from the age of 2-18. i was baptized in 1990 as a jehovah's witness.
It seems to me that your motive for returning to the JW religion is fear. Since you left the religion in 1992 many horrible things have happened throughout the world. For example the genocide in Rwanda or perhaps killer cyclones in Bangaladesh. Evidently these things did not bother you enough to return to the Kingdom Hall. It took something
happening in the USA to do that.
Is fear a good reason to have religious faith? Does not the scripture say that perfect love casts fear out. Isn't the fear of a fiery hell the thing which "Christendom" used to scare its followers into their churches. Is the JW use of Armageddon any different?
Bad things have happened throughout history. If you do not believe me and somehow think that our time is worse than all others, please go to the library and check out a copy of "A Distant Mirror" by Barbara Tuchman (one of the foremost historians of the twentieth century).
However you choose make it a choice based on reason and faith, not fear. I wish you all the best.
can anyone give me some wt quotes of what jws should and should not do with governments.. ie.
salute flag and supoort us constitution etc?.

So we “render to all their dues, to him who calls for the tax, the tax; to him who calls for the tribute, the tribute; to him who calls for fear, such fear; to him who calls for honor, such honor.” (Romans 13:7)
Evidently the payment of taxes does not include taxes due the California Franchise Tax Board or the governmenet of France!
dont know if anyone pointed this thread out already or not but its pretty fascinating.
the incredible number of posts in a short time in what is normally a pretty slow forum shows how difficult a situation this for witnesses.
there are so many interesting and wacky comments being made there, you'll just have to read it for yourself.. http://www.witnessesonline.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/witnessesonline/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=6&t=000092.
Having read this thread on WOL really makes me think that these people live on a different planet. All night stakeouts, private investigators and special surveillance equipment -- where is this in the scriptures. When you have a man-made religion invented by a lawyer (Da Judge) this is what you get.
When I was a dub my wife and I seperated and she did indeed confess to the elders that she had taken up with someone else. Why she did this is beyond me -- she was no longer participating in the religion. I have never understood the penchant JW's have for turning themselves in to the elders. Anyway here in California there is a six month lag from the filing of a divorce and the issuance of final dissolution of the marriage. So I filed for divorce and the elders pulled me into a meeting where I was told how I must behave during the six month period. They advised me that if I was to sit next to a "sister" during a meeting that this would be like committing "adultery." Obviously dating was out of the question -- that surely would have got me disfellowshipped. What a krazy kult!!!!!!!!

latest un information as of 7:00 pm eastern time (canada/us).
i spoke to the man who heads the ngo office at united nations headquarters.
i will not release his name at this point because i was asked not to by the individual who gave me the contact information.
The UN does not care about the WTBTS position on the UN because the WTBTS is irrelevant to 99.9999% of the world. It's as if the Rotary Club of South Peoria passed a resolution condemning the UN. Would the UN care? Of course not.
Will any JW's leave the organization over this? Probably not. The important thing here is that the WTBTS is not going to be able to use the status as a UN NGO to legitimize themselves with governments. My congratulations to those who worked to expose this deceit.
poor jw kids all aver america :.

I too was raised a JW and so never said the pledge of allegiance. I say it now because I love my country and admire the ideals set forth in the pledge. My four year old daughter has just learned to say the pledge and tonight recited it for me. I am very very proud of her.
as someone who was once associated with the wt (over 30 years) i have to say i am in a quandary.
with world events shaping up as they are i keep reflecting on many things i learned as a jw and some of the pieces fit together.
however, the many things i have learned about the organization upon chosing to leave have me stumped.. how can an organization put out teachings about the "scarlet colored wild beast", apply it to the un and yet be a ngo of that organization?.
The WT frequently asserts that we are living in the worst time in human history. They depend on the fact that few people have studied history. Go to the library and check out a book called, "A Distant Mirror" by Barbara Tuchman. This book tells about life in Europe in the fourteenth century. By the time you finish you'll be convinced that that period of time was the "last days."
