  awake 4-22-02 "spider masquerades as ant&q...

  there is a rather fascinating article at the end of the april 22nd awake concerning a certain spider that is able to imitate an ant so convincingly that it can live among ants and escape detection.

  (puzzlingly the article fails to either name the spider or indicate its native habitat.

  looking up some info myself, i see that there a several species of ant-mimicing spider, especially of the genus myrmarachne.

  Incedently how did Peter James and John recognise Moses and Elijah next to Jesus?
  Perhaps they had a painting of them somewhere hidden in their robes eh.

  It is interesting that if you read the letters of the early Christian writers, it becomes obvious that they all felt that they were living in the time that Jesus spoke about.
  James 5:8 The Presence of the Lord as drawn near

  This "Presence" had not happened by the time the writer of Revelation, wrote : Revelaytion 22: 20 Come Lord Jesus come

  You can almost sense the desperation in that plea.

  Christian Apologists will point to the events that befall Jerusalem under General Titus and say that this was an "END" of the Jewish system of things that Jesus spoke about.

  Yet it is clear that this was not the expectation or the teaching of the early Church. This can be seen from such words as penned by James in the quote above, infact if one reads the surrounding verses of that Bible verse it is clear.

  Christian apologists will go to any lenghts to explain the failure of Jesus's prophecy. Take "Larsguy" for example, he believes that there are in reality people still alivefrom the days of Jesus when he was said to utter those words.

  Hypnotism

  has any one here ever been hypnotised?.

  i'm intrested in whether there is a link to repetative meetings and book studies and hypnotism.. hypnosis is defined as a "sleep like state in which people are open suggestion and will act how they are told to.".

  can this wok over a long term period , such as the years in the "truth' or only on a short term basis like in a hypnotists show?.

  Feeling Sleepy ?, then we will begin.

  This is the mechanics of hypnotism: Firstly the hypnotist has to overcome a person’s “critical censor”, this is the bit in your brain which says “hey hold on a minute I don’t want to do that”. It is what stops you putting your head in the fire just because Fred Bloggs just did it.
  The censor sifts information coming into the brain and allows us to make choices rather than us being just a puppet to every command or idea that comes to us.

  How the hypnotist overcomes this, is to get in through the back door so to speak.
  He gets an individual to consciously focus on something and while the person is doing this, he then feeds suggestions to the person’s unconscious mind, (you are feeling sleepy) by allowing the hypnotist to do this, the hypnotist voice is slipping through the back door and his suggesting go to the persons brain uncensored, it become like an inner voice speaking to that person.
  When the person actually becomes sleepy, then the hypnotist knows his suggestions are getting through, and then can take control of that person’s consciousness.

  It is interesting that once JWs accept that the “Governing Body” are the voice of God on Earth today. Then anything that is spoken by “the body”, gets to their brain uncensored so to speak. Automatic obedience follows without question.
  So once a person accepts “the truth” he actually is giving his will over to the hypnotists of the “governing body”.

  It can be said that all fundamentalists are guilty of this type of control.

  The Watchtower April Fool

  I have just received a copy of the Watchtower April 15th, which a friend posted to me. He highlighted an article to me, entitled “Two Pastors who Appreciated Russell’s Writings””.

  The Watchtower article features a former pastor of the Waldenses: Daniele Rivoire, who translated Russell’s book Divine Plan of the Ages into Italian, and Giuseppe Banchetti. who also was a pastor of the Waldenses.

  In the first paragraph, the article says that the professor had an “open mind”as regards the writings of Russell, which led Daniele Rivoire to do the translations for Russell.
  This statement is incredible in view that many JWs are dissfellowshiped because they have displayed just such an open mind with regard to doctrine and a search for truth.

  In the third paragraph, the author of this article reveals his ignorance or deception, by stating that Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1903 were then called “Bible Students”.
  The reality is, that Jehovah’s Witnesses today bear no resemblance at all to the “Bible Students” of Russell day. In fact, if Russell were alive today he would almost certainly be dissfellowshiped by present Watchtower policy.

  Jehovah’s Witnesses today, do not reflect the teachings of Russell.
  Rutherford regarded pastor Russell’s teaching on salvation, as revealed in “Studies in the Scriptures” as a “Ruse of the Devil” (Salvation page 38,351,354)

  Does this Watchtower researcher also not realise that Rutherford was in a process of wholesale repudiation of Russell’s six volumes!!!

  The April Watchtower article shows that Daniele Rivoire and Giuseppe Banchetti, never became “A Bible Student”.
  This truthful observance made in this article is the only redeeming feature..

  obviously from this reasoning, there was confusion amongst some as to what actually happens at death.. greek philosophy, which led some people, such as the epicureans, to lead a life of pleasure, was obviously apparent during that christian time period.

  Obviously from this reasoning, there was confusion amongst some as to what actually happens at death.
  Greek philosophy, which led some people, such as the Epicureans, to lead a life of pleasure, was obviously apparent during that Christian time period.

  This raises important questions to those who today argue that the evidence of Christ’s resurrection was clearly seen by those that lived during that time period and those that did not see the resurrection, could easily speak to others that did and so collaborate the event.
  Surely such divisions should not have existed on such important subject as this and also, so near to the miraculous event.

  It’s apparent that divisions and confusion on “life and death” matters of faith, have always been with those that follow the God of the Bible, which leaves his subjects fighting amongst themselves. Why even at the time of Babel God confused the languages setting up barriers to truth and harmony throughout the world.

  yes its true!.

  we are nearing the time of year now when jws gather in their millions and display utter rejection of their saviour jesus christ.. this empty ritual known as the memorial, will be taking place around the world soon.. bread and wine will be passed before the eyes of each individual witness and 99.5 % of them will reject it.. why?

  JWs Dissfellowship Jesus!

  Yes its true!
  We are nearing the time of year now when JWs gather in their millions and display utter rejection of their saviour Jesus Christ.

  This empty ritual known as the Memorial, will be taking place around the world soon.
  Bread and wine will be passed before the eyes of each individual “Witness” and 99.5 % of them will reject it.

  Why? Did Jesus say that some of his followers should not eat it?
  
  Not so! It’s because some old men in Brooklyn say so.! There is not one single Bible verse that says Jesus Christ’s followers should not share this meal.

  This refusing of a meal with someone, was regarded as a rejection of that person in Bible times. It is so ironic, that the Watchtower enforces its Shunning policy on its own members on that basis

  Yes loyalty to the ageing men in Brooklyn surpasses that of their professed saviour.

  And just to highlight the mind control of the Watchtower,….. the Governing Body in a court of law, would put their hands up in the air and say : they never told anyone not to eat of it, and the rank and file members would all agree!!!!
