Syrian Christians didn't have any problems until Western countries started supporting the so called "rebels".

Could Jehovah's Witnesses Have Conquered the Roman Empire with the WTS Message?
by RottenRiley inchristians were known to show love to everyone, they beat down the pagan empire though a life devoted to loving kindness.
where do jehovah's witnesses stand on feeding the poor, helping slaves get out of slavery and donating funds to help orphanges and hospitals?
christians from various churches donate to help africa combat aids, get clean water, heating stoves to help cook their food.

What is with the WT obsession with King David??
by BU2B init seems like at least once a month he is brought up as a good example in the study wt.
it seems like he is given more praise than jesus.
have you noticed this?

They probably admire him a lot; he did get away with murder, was cruel to his wives, and he did love Jonathan more than he loved women, even though at the end of his days he had a young girl coming to warm him up in his bed because he was cold.
Who would not admire him?

There were similar sects to them from the begining, the arrians, the catars, etc.
But none of them promoted values comparable to what Christianity achieved in the Roman empire, abolishing slavery, raising the status of women, and educating people in mercy, charity and tolerance for other cultures.
In Spain for example, jews and muslims lived together and enjoyed a lot of privileges for centuries until they became a threat to Christianity's survival and were expelled from the country in 1492.
That probably saved Spain from the religion wars that asolated the rest of Europe with the Reformation that happened soon after this event.
The spanish people also fought heroically in every village against Napoleon and his French Revolutionary ideals that costed over 6,000,000 lives to implement in other countries. Not to mention the thousands of witch hunts that took place in the protestant Europe.
By their fruits you will know them...

If this video shows something is that we are all affected by the type of society we live in.
Different societies promote different values.
I think any society that promotes using women as sexual objects and wombs for rent does not deserve the name civilized.
Ancient Greece was a democracy, that is if you were not a woman or a slave, so not quite.
In the WT the woman is the weaker vessel, that means, give her all the cleaning jobs, put a cloth on her head if she (God forbid) has to make a prayer or give a talk, and remind her that she needs to be extra-humble when presenting an objection/query/remark.
I don't know if there is a gay agenda or not, but women have a due place in the family and in society and those who don't respect that are abusing them, even if it is not so melodramatic as in this video.

Letter From WTBTS Evidence of Mind Control Tactics
by Corvin inthe following is taken from ray franz's book, crisis of conscience, pages 341-344. this letter, sent out to all traveling representatives, circuit overseers, by the service department of the international headquarters, shows the society's demand for comformity no matter the cost to the rank and file.
jw lurkers: please read carefully.
the portion of the letter in blue is of particular interest, and franz's comments nails the governing body's intent.. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

This policy of thought crimes explains why there is so much hypocrisy in this organization.
I find disturbing that so far nobody has seriously examined what is behind this cult. It is not normal trying to invade other people's private lives, much less their thoughts.

Hidden Meanings of the Bible: It's All About the Mind
by ProdigalSon inback in bible times, the common literary style was in parables, metaphors, and allegories.
the reason for this is that the spiritual truths they were trying to convey are too abstract and difficult to express in literal terms.
the bible itself says that not a word jesus spoke was literal:.

By sneakely taking god's place in their literature and Bible interpretation, this particular cult has a negative effect in people's sense of spirituality and transcendence.
One of the main differences with other mainstream religions is that the WT does not promote real virtue, as drones are never particularly nice people, and the borg main goal is manipulation, control, real estate and who knows what political agenda.
They have no remote understanding of concepts like grace, love and justice that are essential in Christianity.
Christian religions don't need obscure rituals and strange doctrines to keep their members loyal; instead they tend to promote decency, spiritual transcendence, and a more humane society.
Darwinism produces apes, and not everybody enjoys living under the rule of apes.

Who is easier to indoctrinate, men or women?
by kneehighmiah infrom purely anecdotal evidence, i believe women are more indoctrinated on average.
i can openly disagree with the governing body with men and it results in a discussion however, most women i've talked to have immediately shut me down by ending the conversation.
the only person currently shunning me is a woman.

I think Christianity only became less attractive to men the moment secret societies appeared in the scene, before that Christianity was very much a male religion. Let the woman learn in silence....

It appears women are easier to indoctrinate, but only because a lot of men prefer to join secret societies rather than organized religion.
Nobody really knows what they believe, but since the french revolution and during the 20th Century those societies have been far more fanatic and destructive than any known religion.
A number of men join them seeking to gain status or power over others, even if most of them achieve only a small measure of it.
That seems to be enough to keep them happy in chains.
