Do we have an update on how many NEWBIES have joined in 2012 ?
by smiddy ini think with every year their are more and more newbies that identify with this site , would you like to say " hi ", if you have joined in the last 12 months ?.
does anybody have a graph of the numbers of newbies who have joined in say the last 5 years ?.
i think that would be interesting.

I'm in, and having a hard time biting my tongue sometimes
by noonehome ini spend allot of time with other young witnesses my age, and am very close to a few of these friends.
my question is, is there any way to safely talk about doubts?
for instance, i've been learning allot about evolution and the science behind the flood (or lack thereof).

Welcome Noonehome !
The best advices I could give you (I'm living exactly the same situation. All my relatives are JW) :
. Avoid question about what is written in the Watchtower's publications.
But, make print and copy of all it can be used in these publications to discredit the Org. Display it on a wall in your desk for exemple.
indeed, who would criticize you to display hence the 'holy' spiritual food supplied by the GB ?
Ex : the cover of the W 84 15/05
Or Kingdom News No. 37, “The End of False Religion Is Near!” Distributed Around the earth in November 2006...
No assertion. just ask and conclude your question by using the key sentence : "But I'm confident that God will answer me very soon"
Ex : "Recently I was reading yearbook 2009 ( http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/302009002#p175 : a Brother, his wife, amd his 5 years old daughter killed while they was going to conduct a Bible study ) and I wondered deep inside me How Jah permitted his angels directing the Witness toward specific people, but without protect them individually when they are in the field ? .... But I'm confident that God will answer me very soon" .
If it can help you ...

Don't be so eager ! Zephania had written “The great day of Jehovah is near. It is near, and there is a hurrying of it very much", 2658 years ago.
(the GB don't create nothing in terme of false prophecy. Actually They just follow a biblical model.)

Conversation with my Elder Father
by happytobefree inthis conversation was so absurd...that i actually chuckled under my breath.. ..the shooting in conneticut really hit me hard...so i decided to call my parents, kids and siblings just to say hello and i loved them.. well my dad was happy to hear from me and said he loved me as well.
he said, i know you don't want to hear this...but because we are in the last days things like this is going to happen and even get worse.
well i had to bite my tongue...because i really just want to show my parents i love them and spend time with them...so i choose not to dispute his statement.

" He said, I know you don't want to hear this...but because we are in the last days things like this is going to happen and even get worse"
Even more that all angels are too busy in leading the field service to take care of this sort of thing

1975 - A weak argument?
by Christ Alone ini posted this on an older thread, but i wanted to get an honest opinion about this from all of you.
i think taking the 1975 approach with a jw is...weak.
was it wrong (and false prophetic) of them?

Awake 22/05/69 P.15
"If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that YOU WILL NEVER GROW OLD in this present system of thing."
False prediction ? no ??
Bab understanding ?? ok. so how can the GB proclaim to be a "DISCREET slave" ?
It would have been discreet for them to be silent !
Moreover, is this what is supposed to be the "feed in proper time" ?
James 3:11 A fountain not cause the sweet and the bitter to bubble out of the same opening, does it?
So how could God use such a means to communicate with us ?

Frustrated
by jemba insitting in the local cafe enjoying a coffee this morning when the witnessing group showed up.. before i had a chance to escape i was sharing my table with 2 'sisters'.
one was my best friend for years until i stopped going to meetings.
(such conditional friendships).. before i knew it i was being bombarded with questions like how i was going spiritually.

If they ask you when will you come back to meeting, you should answer "Soon... As for Armaguedon, very soon. You know the worker of the last hour of which Jesus speaked (mat 20:6) ? It's me !"

Hi everybody!
First I’d like to you forgive me for my poor English level. I’m French, and you do know how it’s hard for French people to talk foreign language. So please, be tolerant and patient with me!
To present myself briefly, I’m one of these numbered young baptized JW who know, 23 years later for my part, that’s the biggest part of our belief was based on non-scientific ‘truths’.
Now, I feel simply like prisoner of this religion – to be a JW son, grand-son, husband, son-in-law, uncle, brother-in-law, neighbour, workmate … you know what it is … it doesn’t really help to do your ‘coming out’.
I started to follow this forum 2 years ago.
But last Tuesday, I finally decided to write my own topic, because I regularly met in JW literature some weird arguments which wounded my logic mind and I’d like to know what do you think about.
May be have you heard something about the world wide JW worship unity.
I believed these too… until penultimate WT study (2012, May 7-13 p.15).
Back to begin. 2 years ago, I found how to take advantage of my ‘spiritual’ studies: reading these in English to improve my language (rather than simply lose 3 hours by week by attending JW meeting).
So, last Sunday’s morning, (like a gentle sheep…), I was hearing the WT reader speaking in French while I was following it in my English WT.
What a surprise when I discovered that some English sentences and most important, their ideas, was omitted, purely and simply, in their French translation!
In English, we can read in the article “MAINTAIN YOUR SENSE OF URGENCY”
§2 “As Jehovah’s witnesses, we hope to help people to be saved. To that end, we take seriously our commission to preach good news of the Kingdom. Of course, we do not dash about frantically. Then what did the apostle Paul mean when he gave the admonition ‘Preach the word, be at it urgently’? How can we preach with urgency? And why is our work so urgent?”
French traduction:
Following, the Google translation from this French version:
§ 2 “For our part , we want to help our contemporaries to gain salvation . That's why we take seriously our mission to preach the gospel of the kingdom . Paul was also ordered to ' preach the word emphatically '. What does this mean? How to follow this commandment ? Why is our work is so urgent ?”
The sentence « Of course, we do not dash about frantically” has simply disappeared in the French translation!
Damn, for once there was an interesting idea instead of the perennial chorus “first preach the good news”!
I conclude that we, in France, have not exactly the same ‘spiritual’ food that the English flock has.
So, the issue is: where is the worship unity in this case?
