I tend to agree with what your saying, although I'd probably say it alittle more tactfully than you.
It is hard to believe in a God that is supposed to have limitless power, one that is supposed to love and care for us, that would just sit back and watch this happen. If there is a god,he has sat back and done nothing about countless tragedies in human history.
I can't feel warm and fuzzy about a god like that.

god needs his axx kicked
by messenger inwhere i live there have been calls for massive prayer meetings for all the victims of the terrorist attack.
my question would be, if god is so great and loving why didn't he stop the damn planes to begin with?????.
if the supposed great all powerful being had the power to stop something such as this and just let it all happen, the what fool would think he is going to give a rat's ass about the victims after the fact.. if there is a power who takes action in behalf of the victims, i hope they stomp a mud hole in the ass of those who caused this to happen and when they are finished do a little stomping on god for doing nothing.

JW relatives laying it on heavy...
by betweenworlds inmy father in law just called me to see how we were doing here this evening.
i was glad to hear from him, but of course i got a good dose of jw reasoning along with the concern.. he mentioned he was on his way to a dentists appointment this morning and was listening to the awake!

I'm avoiding my mother right now for this very reason.I don't want to hear that nonscense!
I can understand your feelings. This is normal but it will get better when you gain more confidence in your reasoning ability. You were taught to doubt yourself.
There have been other tragedies and terrorist acts in the recent past and all down through history that witnesses could try to latch on to as signs of the end, but that doesn't make them right.
This atttack is just a sad reality of life. This kind of thing happens in different countries all over the world and will probably continue.

ex-JW's : Would you go to war?
by Jim Lad inmy ex-brother in law phoned this morning and asked me how i felt about going to war now that i'm not in the org anymore.
with so many years of being told not to i wonder how many of us still feel that way.
would you be worldly conscientious objectors or would you defend...etc.... i'm not trying to antaganize or be inappropriate.

Here's one way of looking at it.
Most of us would do whatever was nessesary to defend ourselves and family members if someone broke into our home and threatened our lives in some way.Even if it resulted in their death it would be worth it to protect your family.
I veiw the country I live in as my home and the people in it as my extended family.
When you view it that way theres no decision to be made. You do what has to be done.

Now he's done it!
The President just said the words "PEACE AND SECURITY".He also quoted a verse from Psalms.
I bet the Witnesses will make something of this!

Kismit,
I was just thinking of putting up a thread like this, asking for ideas on what we can do to help. Thanks for your ideas.I especially liked the one about people stuck at the airports and how we could help them.

I live in a small southern town.
My vehicle was on empty so I decided to go fill up this afternoon.I went to WalMart to get the cheapest gas and was surprised to see every one else had the same idea.It was crazy!I decided to go somewere else thinking it was just busy there because school had just let out.I was wrong!Every gas station in town was packed out!Gas prices haden't gone up yet.
I drove to a smaller community on the way home thinking it would be better there.I was wrong.I got in line and waited and waited.I finally got to the pump and they had just run out of regular grade unleaded so I had to cash out and start over with the medium grade. They were running out of it too.It got very slow at the end just like the other had.Its been like this all evening I hear from my neighbors.I'm also hearing rumers of 5.00 gas in a larger city about 30 miles away.

Radar,
I hate to say it but I think your right.
This is such a shocking event that most of us are focused on the imediate tragedy.
This is going to have far reaching effects.
We Americans have lived with such a false sense of security,me included.

where are all the demon possessed people?
by sleepy inhow come that when jesus was on earth there were so many demon possessd people .. imagine how scared people must have been, creeping down the street wondering whether the next person you met was crased by demons and was going to attack you.. so how did they work out that someone was possessed by demons, who told them?how did they know it wasnt just a disease or other afliction?.
and were are all those demon possessions today ?.
you would think that with all the comunication technology today that at least one example of a positivly demon possessed person could be presented to the midia somewere in the world.. or perhaps we cant tell if someone is possessed or not because there are no extra outwould signs and any disease they caused would show up like a normal disease in tests.. maybe we are all possessed and dont know it.

Sleepy,
I have thought about this many times.
Thanks for bringing it up.
When you read the New Testament, demons are being cast out right and left! The Bible lets us know to expect the same kinds of events happening in these so-called “last days.” When I go to town, I don’t run into the numbers of demon-possessed people that are portrayed in the Bible. I do run across people who are depressed, mentally ill, handicapped, deaf, blind, etc.
These people used to be considered demonic or possessed .We know better today.
It makes you wonder at the accuracy of those Bible stories doesn’t it?
