  My JW friend and Silentlambs...

  i caught up with an old friend on the weekend.

  she's still a loyal dub but has had terrible marriage problems in the past (they've been divorced for some time now) and feels that she has been slandered in the congregation.

  she's also pretty wild for a dub...anyway, that's a discussion for another time.... over lunch, we got to talking about one of her friends (also a dub) and she mentioned that she is very promiscuous.

  MY FATHER HAS BEEN REASSIMULATED!!

  yes, im sick!

  my father willingly allowed himself to be reabsorbed by the borg!.

  during the time he was dfd and separated from my mother (church lady) i tried to help him see through to the real colors of the organization.. he has not one spiritual bone in his body and never has.. he really didnt want to discuss it.. i was concerned because i knew that between the organization and my mom he just believed he was a bad person who would be destroyed at armageddon.

  This may sound strange but my dad was an elder for years but I still say he was never a spiritual man.

  My mother was the spiritual head, police and judge in our home.

  He's a very introverted man.
  He always hated service, public speaking, family study,.....

  He did what was expected and what he had to to keep mom happy.
  She nagged all of us including him about personal study, study for meetings, the text, reaching out for privleges and so on.

  I understand, you really do have to be careful.

  Someone else on the board (I don't remember who) was discussing how they were trying to deal gently with a JW so as not to trigger their "aposto shield".
  I liked that phrase because that’s just what it's like; an impenetrable shield, and we want to avoid going there.

  Maybe you can let her know the airdate of Dateline when you find out when it is.

  That spinach recipe is always a hit even with people who claim to hate spinach.
  Glad it was a success.

  MAJOR ALERT - UN 2nd LETTER on WTS/NGO

  on january 24, 2002 the interim head of the department of public information responded to my letter requesting disclosure of the watchtower file.

  even though dpi still refuses to give me the file, they did present some more facts on criteria for association.

  also dpi provides what their dpi committee alerted the wts too in the committee's 1992 letter of accreditation to the wts.. there was a delay in posting due to the fact that the dpi sent a wrong brochure to me that accompanied the letter.

  Why should we doubt our brothers? Is becoming an NGO the same as fornicating with the enemy? I don't think so. The brothers obviously saw a benefit without compromising our loyalty to Jehovah. They took advantage of what the UN was offering, but they did not back it up as humanity's solution to its problems. They never said that it is Jehovah's instrument to bring peace and security to earth. I do not see the actions of these brothers as a "sin".

  I am sorry to point out that maybe on this issue, you have read too much into the "apostate reasoning" that is presented with the supposed "proof". If one looks at this "proof" without the demonized reasoning, then there is nothing to it.

  He really didn’t want to discuss it.

  I was concerned because I knew that between the Organization and my mom he just believed he was a bad person who would be destroyed at Armageddon. I knew he needed to think and talk about it. He needed to start thinking for himself.

  I knew he wasn’t ready but I thought of something. I had never really asked anything of him before and I pointed this fact out to him.

  I asked him if he would promise to read the Bible cover to cover before ever even considering going back to the organization.

  Reading the Bible was sure an eye opener for me.
  I found out that JWs don’t teach in harmony with what it says.
  As I continued that study I came to the conclusion that it’s not inspired by God either.

  He promised that he would read it. I felt pretty safe because I didn't figure he ever would ever take the time to read it and he surely wouldn't break his promise to me.
  I thought I was covered both ways.

  Wrong!!!

  That was a promise he did not keep!

  It all boils down to the fact that he would do anything to be able to get back with my mom.

  I have talked to them once since October. That is the month he went back to mom with his tail between his legs.

  They also have two grandchildren and another daughter that they have cast aside for this religion.

  My mother hasn’t seen, called or written them in almost a year.
  That was when I went to see her with my kids. There was no effort on her part even a year ago.

  Now I feel the need to do whatever I can to keep my DF’d sister from going back.

  Even though I know this is not my fault I still have to fight feelings of failure and loss.

  I know this has happened to some of you too.
  It's just sad.

  Food for a funeral

  a sister who lived in a local cong was dying and so she decided to get ready for this by preparing all the food for her funeral.. she spent a lot of time baking cakes, quiches and making sandwiches etc and filled the freezer with these so that the brothers and sisters could remember her at the get together after the funeral talk.. would you have eaten anything?

  This is just plain weird!

  I wouldn't have wanted to eat it.I can't tell you why either.
  It's just creepy.

  You would think she would have expended that last bit of energy on the "all important" preaching work, to make sure Jehovah remembered her.

  Instead she chose to make sure she was remembered in death by her congregation, family and friends.

  I assumed it was from a complete nut and deleted it.

  Is this world ruled by Demons and are we?

  to me, one of the most pathetic and lamest of all watchtower teachings is the fantasy that satan and the demons rule the world.

  the witnesses are terrified of these demons getting into their minds through everything from wearing old clothes bought at the thrift store to smoking cigarettes (remember all drugs give demons easy access to your mind.).

  they would have you believe that each country on earth is controlled by really big mean and tough demons (hey demons cant be nice you know) and they are actively controlling the minds of the political leaders in a global chess game because they have nothing better to do.. i was wondering then if anyone can show me a single itsy bitsy tiny amount of evidence to show any credible physical evidence or logical/metaphysical reasoning to back the jw ideological boogey men.
